Brightpick Autopicker is the only mobile robot in the world that robotically picks and consolidates orders directly in the warehouse aisles. The robot is like a human with a cart, autonomously picking and consolidating orders as it moves through the warehouse aisles.
Its patented two-tote design enables Brightpick Autopicker to both retrieve product storage totes from shelving and robotically pick items into an order tote. In contrast to other automated fulfillment systems, Brightpick Autopicker does not need to travel back and forth to centralized picking stations; this means the robots can pick and consolidate orders faster, which increases efficiency and throughput. Brightpick Autopicker can reliably pick ambient and chilled groceries, packaged goods, cosmetics, electronics, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, polybagged apparel and more.
Brightpick Autopicker is fully patented and powered by proprietary machine vision and artificial intelligence. Its advanced AI algorithms have been trained on more than 500 million picks to date and use machine learning to improve with each pick.
The robot also comes with Goods-to-Person (G2P) capabilities for heavy or oddly-shaped items, and autonomously finds the nearest human picking station to complete a pick if needed. In addition to order picking, Brightpick Autopickers can also autonomously replenish and put away inventory.
Brightpick robots work with standard shelving and totes, enabling fast deployment and easy integration with any warehouse environment, including existing operations and mezzanines. Unlike other solutions such as shuttle (such as Exotec) and cube AS/RS (such as Autostore), Brightpick robots do not need any fixed infrastructure, grids or conveyors to operate. It's good to see some honesty. She said they would help you to meet your customer's expectations with as little effort and as little PEOPLE as possible. Usually, they try to say that robots won't do away with your job but rather they are just there to work alongside the employee to make them more productive. Of course, we all know that is just silly. Nevertheless, that is evidently the future right?

I've always envisioned a wireless charging method for pickers, so there's really no down time. The pickers can drive over an induction coil mat, placed in the isles and traffic paths, reducing the weight in batteries and minimizing any need to stop operations.
@jatigre1 that's a great idea, and we've also considered that (and may develop it in the future). However, doing so would add significant complexity to the installation process, and require customers to install fixed infrastructure to operate the solution. One of the biggest strengths of Brightpick Autopicker is that it doesn't require any fixed infrastructure to operate, which enables warehouses to install it in a matter of weeks and even move it from one facility to another (which includes the charging stations - our robots use standard 110V power to charge). Adding coils beneath the floor would obviously make this a lot more complicated and expensive, and ultimately the costs may outweigh the benefits.
@@brightpickAI The charging "coils" are no thicker that a few millimeters when dimensioned right, when you think about the wireless coil inside a QI charger, it's just a thin "film" of copper printed on a sheet. The "mat" could be just "rolled out" and placed. Contact points can be added from under the shelves, and can be narrow enough so the wheels don't touch. I don't know why someone hasn't done that yet, Even in RC toys, you can build an entire racetrack like that, so the cars have almost no batteries or need to stop. Cheers!
Would like to see your solution: 1) picking apparel and similar softgoods, 2) picking books (if doable), and 3) consolidating order totes (when everything that is picked for an order spans >1 order tote). Thanks.

2. As long as the books are packaged (so as not to open when picked), we should be able to easily pick them!

@brightpick This was a very clear demonstration of your product ! I'm curious to understand wich part of the automation is AI driven ? Is it the navigation, automapping and pathfinding ? The dynamic slotting ? How is it AI and not handwritten program/algorithm that simply do what they are told to ? For exemple sorting by sell frequencies and associating with sorted postion by travel time is not AI... Not criticising, just very entusiasm to learn and understand in what this AI that we see and hear verywhere is a breaktrough
@solenevernay614 thank you for asking - we really appreciate your interest! We use AI for the robotic picking - given the wide variety of SKUs in a warehouse, it is not possible to "train" the 3D camera to pick each item individually. That is why we use AI to identify and pick objects, including random ones it has never seen before (with perfect accuracy). This enables to quickly deploy the robots in any warehouse.
In the future, we also expect to use AI for the fleet orchestration / path planning optimization (and possibly slotting), but as you rightly point out at present that is easier to accomplish using algorithms (which are still more powerful/efficient than the AIs available today)
Nice system!! Super interesting tech! @brightpickAI, why do the scanner and picking arm not move up and down with the boxes so that the boxes have less travel time?
@boele0707 that's a great observation! The reason the boxes move up&down to pick instead of the picking arm is to reduce the number of moving components in the robot (to improve reliability and reduce cost).
The boxes have to move regardless for the robot to retrieve totes from storage, so by using the same mechanism to move them for picking as well we avoid having a second motor / chain for the robotic arm.
In terms of performance, the results are identical (our 3D camera has sub-millimeter accuracy, so we know exactly how high the tote should go for the pick).
In addition, the tote-moving motor also has an energy-recovery system which recharges the batteries when the totes move down, so the impact of moving the totes instead of the arm on energy consumption is negligible.

@brightpickAI is it possible to use other totes than the default ones? We work with flower bulb products that needs a tote that allows the product to release moisture and to get fresh air from our ventilation system

In some cases, yes. The main requirement is that the short side of the tote is flat and has no gaps in it (otherwise the robots would not be able to retrieve the totes using suction cups). Also, the totes cannot be wider than 400mm (but they can be narrower).

At the G2P station, both totes look the same, what keeps the human from picking from the wrong tote?
@TerryPullen great observation! Our robots always carry the storage / donor tote on the left and the order tote on the right. In addition, each robot carries a tablet, which uses a simple visual prompt to tell the person which tote to pick from. The tablet also has an image of the SKU itself and, in cases where our storage tote is split into multiple compartments, it also shows exactly which compartment to pick from.

It would not be if our countrymen would actually show up, I am forced to go AI due to the “stressed workforce”at my whse, call it lazy American’s, leave in two weeks for a dollar more, incompetent can’t read workers, dumbed down schools, call it what you want, I just can’t keep going with what our Baltimore schools are pushing out the door, losing profit and irritating my customers will do me in, we as a country are doing this to ourselves all across America and leaving absolutely no choice but robotics , investing up front will give me 24 365 whse movement, and no insurance, no vacation, and no calling in at the last minute leaving me hanging in the wind, I’m done, and have exhausted every avenue but friends, if the people don’t want to work for a good competitive honest days pay, what choice is left but to close up the doors. For me, going this way is not a choice, it’s forced on my situation or fold.
@@dannylee4634 I get that all the time too. I use the change in agriculture to counter such thinking. We used to send an army into the field to schye the wheat then thresh it. Now we send the combine to do the work of 1000's. We could go back to the schye but Millions would starve. The AGV's are the Combine of this century.
Who loads the boxes these robots take from the shelf?

The robots do this themselves. They take the totes (boxes) from decanting stations (which is where the totes are replenished with new inventory) and autonomously slot them into the storage shelves.

How much this machine? Can be transport to Middle East ?
We don't sell the robots individually but rather as part of a solution consisting of multiple robots and software (in addition to installation itself). The smallest installation we would do would consist of 6-8 robots.
At present we only offer our solution in North America and Europe.
Is the existing Wi-Fi infrastructure sufficient for connecting the robots? Any challenges there we should be aware off
Great question! In every installation, Brightpick provides its own dedicated Wi-Fi network and infrastructure for communication. If there are competing Wi-Fi networks in a given area, we would establish reserved/priority channels to use. For power, we would utilize a facility’s existing power supply using either a 110 or 220 v outlet.
How does this pick large items that won’t fit in a tote?
@gregaustin8114 unfortunately if an item is too big for a tote, it will not be suitable for our solution (we use standard 600x400mm totes with varying height options)

We design each system for the specific needs of the customer (throughput, storage locations etc.), so pricing will vary. However, typically you're looking at a cost in the low-single-digit millions including installation and software.
