I own this one, too! In both mass market paperback and in hardcover. The hardcover has a larger version of the image than the paperback, and includes a guy falling off a tower to the left of the paperback's cutoff. I wish they'd found some way to include that in the mass market paperback, especially given the title. Certainly seems Dangerous to me!
A GUY FALLING OFF OF A TOWER?!? Oh my gosh that's incredible!! That certainly is...DANGEROUS. 😂 I wish they could always find a way to include the entire painting in the stepbacks. Perhaps if it had been a two pager. Oh well! 🤷🏻
This was my first historical romance (and still one of my favorites!) many, many, many moons ago and first intro to Amanda Quick. Never looked back since then! 😉

More Amanda Quick! Remember the one that had the bird-of-paradise on it? That was my favorite, because I've loved that flower ever since a group of them sang to me when I was a child (at the Tiki Room ride at Disneyland). Although I seem to recall that, as an actual reading experience, my favorite was Reckless. Which also had a great cover and stepback, of course.

I am so happy to see Dangerous on this list!! Truly the best of the Amanda Quick romances- I haven't seen the stepback in so long! (My copy is sadly without one.) Just seeing it makes me want to read this one again! (Okay, I was going to re-read it pretty soon anyway, but still...) Thanks for featuring it- this made my day!!

@@SaraEDickson I was thinking of Tomorrow the Glory, but you're right it is under her pen name of Shannon Drake. I looked up Ondine to see if they were the same story by chance but they are not. Now I have to find Ondine.

Does her brother survive her attempt to save him? That cat has a prominent placement in the picture so is that significant to the story? Maybe early fall because there are flowers by the carriage. 🔍🔎🐈

I didn’t think the story had fantasy elements but is he a warlock with a black cat familiar? Or inherited the cat from a relative and is paid to keep it happy. So many possibilities?? LOL
