    Most Stage 2 reviews I've seen say that the turbo spools _more_ quickly. Odd.
    Thanks for the great review! I've been thinking about going with the MAP package and calling it good!

    • @jonmcnemar
      @jonmcnemar  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When it was just the downpipe, I would say that it did. However, when I added the intercooler, it felt as tho it took a little longer to spool to full boost. That might just be in my own head lol, but that's one of the things I felt stood out to me. Either way, the turbo still spools very fast compared to non twin scroll cars for sure

    Man possibly the best review I have ever seen, dude your explanations are on point , easy to understand . You should be in charge of all wrx stage reviews imy option is spoken like a pro awesome. Also I just my stage 2 plus with cobb and a custom amazing j pipe custom made no cobb no ma performance no grimm . Sounds so good and the power I gained with torque is very very nice .

    • @jonmcnemar
      @jonmcnemar  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is incredibly nice man, thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! The extra gains you get from the downpipe is super noticeable for sure! Did you build it yourself, or is it custom through a shop?

    Very thorough and detailed analysis man.
    I also have 2+ over here in Australian. Although mine has process west Verticooler, charge pipe and cold air intake with a pro tune amd I Nvidia catted J pipe.
    I must have missed you say how much power you gained, mine made 270whp or 200kw.
    I felt exact same, the noises are amazing.
    Although the fact it pulls to redline now and all rev hang is gone, which makes it diluted smooth to drive, I was suuuuuper disappointed with the amount of turbo lag. I didn’t realise the charge pipe amd cooler would make THAT much difference! I put them on to increase reliability and health the the engine because of lower IAT’s but I don’t know if it was worth it lol. I
    Miss the responsive feel amd almost no lag of stock.
    Most of all, I’ve found I essentially need to relearn how to drive the car to keep it pulling. The mat, and now I need more power. E85 next I think. HBU?
    Thanks for the vid

      Thank you for that comment man, I appreciate all of it! I put it on a hub dyno, and got about the same as you. If I remember correctly, I made about 270whp, and 300wtq. I am only on 91, and I've learned it's very limiting on making power, so ethonal is definitely in the future for me too. I have a lot of supporting mods I need to do first, like the fuel pump, the flex fuel sensor, and at that point most likely a clutch too. All that, plus the tune makes it kind of expensive to make that jump, but after talking to some tuners and other people, I've been told I can be pushing 350whp plus easily, so definitely worth it!!! My intercooler also added some lag as well, and without a real way to brake boost, it is an annoying thing to have to deal with. With some of the roll racing I've been doing, I've noticed it helps to almost kinda "roll into it" before the 3rd honk and it helps build boost a little faster. I've still got some more to learn, but comments like yours inspire me to keep going and put out more videos!

      @@jonmcnemar do it man! Just keep cranking out content if you can make the time! The bones of the vid is great amd the audio/video is spot on too, very easy to watch. It’s all about the information your feeding us dude.
      Yeah 100% agree, I’ve found over the last week that “rolling” into boost definitely gives you more of a hit when it comes on. Progressive throttle up to about 3.5-4k and then 90% will instantly throw me back into my seat. There readily is a sweet spot for the throttle control and that’s what makes it fun.
      Yeah I’ve heard the same, literally adding even 30% will gain you heaps. But for me, I’m also shit scared of knock so I want E85 for safely more than anything.
      It’s funny dude, everyone says different things about what u need for e85. The most common I see/get is @30% you don’t need pumps amd at up to 60% u just need the low pressure one upgraded. If you run straight gas every 5 tanks that will keep the high pressure pump lubed enough. So other than the flex there’s not much else. I’m luck because I already have a pro tune so they’ll retune for ethanol for 1/4 of the cost.
      I’m dieing to do it but I just dropped 4k on it getting it to 2+ lmao.
      Good luck my dude, and I’m subbed 😃

    nice video but i was told the fuel system parts needed to be upgraded as well therefore its really stage 3. stage 2 should be avoided. Or does stage 2 + include the fuel system?

    • @jonmcnemar
      @jonmcnemar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I am definitely no expert, all I can tell you is what I have experienced. My fuel system is still completely stock, and I've been running this set up for almost 2 years at this point with zero issues. (Intake, downpipe, chargepipe, top mount intercooler with a tune). I have been told that if I wanted to add ethonal, it would be a good idea to upgrade the fuel pump as not doing so can definitely lead to issues. Again, im not an expert so if your tuner or someone with proven knowledge is telling you otherwise, I'd go with what they say!

    Dyno tune always a must. No cars are the same. Must adjust driver weight, daily driver or not. E tunes are not accurate, and possibly dangerous (from my tuner). E tunes are what cheap people do

    • @jonmcnemar
      @jonmcnemar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've definitely heard dyno tunes are the best way to go, but I haven't heard anything bad about e-tunes... I know those "off the shelf" tunes can be considered dangerous long term, and should only be used to get you by until you can get a proper tune. I am not a tuner, nor do I claim to be an expert, just sharing my own experiences the best i can! I could be totally wrong which is why you should always listen to your tuner and not some random guy making TH-cam videos for fun lol

  • @jeffjackson9483

    My guy, check out Ron watson at Phatbotti tunning and get a flex fuel kit, you’ll be pushing almost 400 hp on a amazing tune!! 💯💯

    • @jonmcnemar
      @jonmcnemar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hes definitely one of the best tuners out there for the fa20s for sure! I want to upgrade a few other things before then, like my brakes and suspension, then possibly an IAG block.... we shall see!!

      @jeffjackson9483 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jonmcnemar yeah man, i am totally stock right now, just got a tune from him about a month ago, he got me about 20 hp to the wheel and 50ft pound torque added, all while making my car way more smother running and efficient.. I am about a month away from adding my flex fuel kit and Ron will be doing my tune for that also, I highly recommend him!! The tunning process is so easy and being involved is awesome!!! 😎

      Not gonna lie, those 18+ front ends look super good! Once you go flex fuel, these motors can make really solid power, and they hold up! As long as you stay within that 350-400whp range anyway lol

    • @jeffjackson9483
      @jeffjackson9483 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jonmcnemar Thanks brother appreciate the compliment!!! And yes sir, you are exactly right about keeping the hp between 350-400, most definitely will not push the hp past the flex fuel upgrade, that will be plenty pedal to the metal for me!! Plus my car is truly my daily driver!! Other than that i’ll just be helping my car breathe a little more better! Also plan on getting a 4 prong Map sensor from cobb to better read control and distribute boost!! While also making my readings to the access port more on point and faster! Cheers brother, hope to see more awesome videos of your Wrx 🔥🔥🤙🏽🍻
