Just because someone is introverted doesn't mean they necessarily lack social skills. Introverts just figure out things internally instead of externally. Introverts can especially become social when they are comfortable with who they are around or if they're comfortable in their environment.

Hi @jessica Venyke I’m in your very position!! I’m currently a nurse I have been for a year now! I do like it but I’d also like another career! Stimulate myself having 2heads attracts me! I’ve been working personally on pushing and applying myself it’s been my new mantra now I believe whilst your alive you should be exploring trying out new things & connecting with others! I want to be ambitious and dip my toe into a different career. Love that you can work from ANYWHERE with this career!

Love the last reason you stated! People think software engineering is not creative, however to me it's so creative! Figuring out a way to solve a problem and also having the skills to build whatever app we can think of, feels so empowering. Let me know how you like the Python course! we need more inspiring people like you in the tech like all the youtubers out there who code don't ever talk about the beauty of it instead keeps insulting and discouraging. like we know it has some cons but you don't have to keep holding a grudge over it right. unlike them i love how you showed the beauty of this field in just 8 minutes and all of the points were so important and i have heard them all for the first time. thank you for making me gain back my interest in coding!!!

You are so inspiring! I've always loved computers and was trying to figure out what IT career was best for me, now I'm certain it's software engineering. I love the idea of remote working, not a fan of offices and shared workspaces. The salary in Jamaica is much lower even at the highest level, definitely have to look for work internationally.

Started a boot camp in April, currently working on API hack capstone. I have an infant son and a toddler daughter + a content creator. I do majority of my work at night and weekends. But, between the pandemic, racial injustice and grocery prices I am OVERWHELMED 😭😭😭. My question is how do you deal with imposter syndrome?

I couldnt pass calculus and dropped intro to cs halfway into the semester. Software enginerring is not for me sadly, but at least i gave it a shot.

Since I've been a software engineer, I had to use calculus exactly 0 times. You may just need a different path to get there and motivation!

Thank you for this !I'm currently taking a web development boot camp class on udemy since the pandemic. I'm also african American so it's very encouraging to see another black woman in your position doing so well ! being remote and the pay are my biggest plus so far lol. I love to travel so this is the reason I really want to get into this field as well we need more inclusion with new technology.

i’ve been discouraged by peers and family when i tell them about software engineering because they tell me “you’re a girl! what makes you think you can be a software engineer in a career full of men?”. seeing this video made me so happy because i realized that women can be software engineers too.

I have so many dreams about what I want to do as a software engineer. It is so nice to see a lady engineer like me talking about it. I am mostly likely going to be the only female in my small college going into software engineering. I am in my first ever coding class and I know I have a long way to go, but I am so so excited

Really good video. I'm a software engineer too. I currently work from home which is a really good benifit about being a software engineer. The thing I love most is that I get to create my own product on the side too. For example, I've created a productivity app called Gotstado (www.gotstado.com shameless plug lol). Being a Software Engineer allows me to create something based on someone else's spec or be creative and build something for myself 😊
