    Just to add a bit around freelancing I think if you are in college it is a good option to do while still in college at an individuals level. Depending on what school you go to you may have people in other majors like the arts that will be looking for portfolio websites and it is a good way to get some practice while getting a little cash in your pocket. Also if you make under s certain amount (which most college kids do) it may even be considered as a hobby and not a true job by the government. (At least when I was in school this was the case, I'd still recommend reaching out to someone knowledgeable about starting businesses ie... a teacher at college) While it is a far cry from a true industry job it does give you the opportunity to get your feet wet with some of the latest industry languages considering sometimes schools tend to be a bit behind the latest trends. I just found your channel. You're doing a great job! Looking forward to your future content. :)

    Salaried jobs aren't forever. Turnover rates are high in tech, especially now. The only way to get a raise is to leave. Unfortunately, every time you leave you get more money and less seniority. Eventually you'll hit a wall. This is where many give up and go into management.

      You don't know until you try! I'll drop a link to this guy who has some great videos, really helped me get started. Senegoddess mentioned she uses Python, here's a playlist for Python.
      th-cam.com/video/sfhhk8m4mcQ/w-d-xo.html
      You will want to download a special text editor that will help you with programming, it has a kind of spellchecker to help point out places you made a mistake. I used PyCharm and had a good time.
      Really, you should figure out what kind of stuff you want to program and then see what language is most common in that field, then try that language. I'm not really going to be using Python for a career, but I found it easier to get the hang of it than other languages. All programming languages are very similar. Imagine all spoken languages were the same but had different grammar, that's pretty much what programming languages are.

    • @XevisUniverse
      @XevisUniverse 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Give it your best shot. Worst thing that could happen is you don't like it. There is no such thing as smart enough. If you put in the work for anything you enjoy you will be great at it. You got this!

    • @PlatinumBuckGorilla
      @PlatinumBuckGorilla 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be challenging to begin with. Just like when you were a baby trying to walk. You crawl and crawl, then small steps with help until you starting walking by yourself.
      I got up and running from a single book. I learnt more on my first job (on the job is where things start to make sense, you may feel silly at times but if you have a good employer for your first job it will make a difference)

    Get the ‘hot chick[Black] in tech’ vibe she’s branding herself but tech advice is everywhere on YT.Aaron Jack (code drip) & Clement Mihailescu &Joshua Fluke for live streams/resumes/HR. If you want to be in web dev or swe, think, analyze, enjoy fixing ‘puzzles’ for hours.Refs above are solid- they’re ex-GOOGLE, fb... they’re not dumbing down shit and trying to be ‘cute’ in makeup so that you’ll watch & boost subscriber #. Fine to get ‘inspiration’ from female from certain ethnicity but if this is your only ‘inspiration’, swe is not for you. Be resourceful. Find solutions.That’s what we do.
