- Hello everyone!
This time I covered Evil Cross & Nightmare, aka The Saint Comes Marching In, from Namco's horror video game Splatterhouse.
My favorite instrument, the BOSS SY-200, has an organ tone, so I thought I'd give it a try.
Also, since it's Halloween season, we selected this song that we think fits the mood🎃
When I analyzed this song, it was progressing while passing the melody between two instruments.
In addition to that, there seemed to be another independent counter melody.
This time I played the former with two electric violins.
Please pay attention to the exchange of the two melodies.🎻🎻
This time, I tried something new: chromakey synthesis of videos. I bought a low-priced green screen on Amazon.
I didn't have much time, but I tried a lot of experiments, so I hope you enjoy them!
This time, I applied correction to prevent the face from elongating when shooting with a wide-angle lens, but I had a funny accident where the correction caused the violin's bow to appear bent near the face, haha.
It was interesting that the bow looked like rubber, so I decided to use it as is😆
For the violin tone, I first applied a compressor (Delux Com) with HX STOMP to add punch, then mixed the sound one octave higher with a pitch shifter (Poly Pitch) and passed it through the SY-200.
I am using variation 10 of the SY-200 Organ category.

This video game is very scary, but it's also a wonderful piece of art, partly due to the effective contrast between the cool songs that make full use of FM sound sources that cannot be expressed in sheet music, and the beautiful melodic songs🤩

In case you didnt play you should play metal gear solid 1(ps1) and 3(ps2) and silent hills 1 to 4(originals not hd remake). Is the best games ever and got an amazing soundtrack for cover.
