The best time to find a job is when you have one. Perhaps taking this role and do the most you can within the next 1-3 years before jumping out again. Provided the role is aligned with learning opportunities and your end-game goal.
There is no guarantee of another decent offer, especially if a downturn comes. If you have something decent, grab it with both hands first. Even if it's a 5 to 20% drop, take a step back to move forward.
Must remember that competition from hungrier people (both foreign and local) is coming & escalating. The longer you stay unemployed, the less employable you become in the eyes of companies. If this 4 month drought turns into 12 months or more, leverage swings to the employer in a BIG way.
Many reasons why someone has to take a paycut that goes beyond your feelings. It could be the market cycle, the industry & sometimes plain bad luck. No point in comparing as well, there will always be people richer/higher-ranking/more career-advanced than you.

I agree with working on skill set, networking and standing out from others. It’s really a show of how proactive as a person compared to just sending out resumes and waiting for interview.
I just share 1 of my experience when I was working in the bank. 1 day a relatively young gal came to the branch and asked if the branch manager is ard. Turns out tat she just present herself and ask if my boss is hiring. And sales job are always on the lookout for good ppl, so they did the interview on the spot. A lot of times the branch managers dun get to see who are the hires posted over, it’s like a mystery box, so to get to talk to the person 1st, get a feel of whether can work with tis person is impt. End of story is she got hired despite no interviews after numerous resumes to HR.
Tis story might not be able to apply to diff industries, but I’m just sharing abt being proactive. If all else fails, just get out of comfort zone and go for sales role, it’s a very good area to learn and build up ur network and communication skills. Dun just keep looking for jobs tat stays behind close doors in front of a desk.

What if the desire for pay cut is due to wanting to have less responsibility as the current role is giving burnout?
