That’s exactly how I was....then when I got a little bit of freedom as I became an adult I totally became indulgent with drinking and drugs then got knocked up and dropped out of college.....I sure showed my parents smh that is damn near exactly what will happen to at least a few of their kids. My mom’s side of the family is really religious and when I want to there church you would half to ware really nice clothes and no at that church would waring really nice cloths at the church that was the last time I went to there church because no one on my dad’s side of the family doesn’t really expect you dress that way when you go to there church. This past winter when my mom,dad , me and my brother where at house for a family get together my mom’s parent tried to volunteer me and my brother to cut the cake for everyone me and my brother stayed in the other room because I did not feel like we should do that is. At the last family get together on my mom’s side my mom’s parent wanted to get food for me I told her I can get it my self she got upset I felt like she started to be controlling when I wanted to get my own food.

At 12 I remember telling my one friends very strict mom that she can’t shelter her daughter forever, it’s going to push her away. She just told me I was a kid and I didn’t know what I was talking about. Now I’m 22 and guess what? Her daughter did everything that her mother didn’t want her to do but behind her back. And all of it just made my friend a good liar in her teens. Now she hardly wants to do anything with her parents.

But there are a lot outside of Doctor, Lawyer, Engineer, etc that DO need degrees. I majored in Advertising and Public Relations. If I didn't have that degree, not only would I not have been hired in the field, but I wouldn't have had the basic knowledge to excel at my job. Plus, she got a scholarship. Someone was willing to pay her to get a higher education at their school and honestly, I think it's sad that her parents weren't supportive of that. In today's field where so many people have a college degree, that makes it even harder (outside of trades) to get a job without a degree. I've seen basic jobs demanding a degree in something, anything, but a degree. It's the world we live in right now. It went to a top 'public' school on scholarship. I made that decision so I wouldn't have as many loans. If the student picks a low cost school (not private) and a degree that actually is in demand, it's a great decision.

She just told me I was a kid and I didn’t know what I was talking about. Now I’m 22 and guess what? Her daughter did everything that her mother didn’t want her to do but behind her back. And all of it just made my friend a good liar in her teens. Now she hardly wants to do anything with her parents.
