Nice bike, but 14,000 pounds and still needing to add 500 to replace to a decent brake set, makes no sense. I´d pay this price when the motor can reach close to 90 Nm and the battery is around 700 Wh at the same SL weight, else same. Before that point, the actual price just seems out of the market curve price.
@guacyume in the 90´s mobile phones came in the form of a bag with a large antenna, 2 hrs lasting battery, and a cable to join the earphone and microphone all weighting around 5-6 kgs.... You know how the story ends today with the smartphones.
That’s ridiculous, especially for these SL models.. Do they ban fat people on bikes too? They also do more trail damage, but nobody in their right mind would deny a bigger person to ride the trails just because of his weight.. I’m really disappointed that there are such laws in the US.. Here in Germany you’re still allowed to ride your Ebike on mtb trails, thanks god!
@@rolux4853 totally agree. The Fed has declared class 1 eMTBs as bicycles but it is still up to State and local land managers if they allow them. Unfortunately the hiker lobby is full of old biddies that don’t like MTB and consider eMTB “motorbikes”. Even worse is that they’re a powerful lobby so land managers are not quick to change. We also have a stupid amount of analog bikers that get butt hurt over eMTBs in “their” trails and advocate to keep them off as well 🤦♂️ It’s gradually changing but it’s slow.
My feeling is lower torque/power/weight doesn’t quite fit a downhill centred bike in the same way it can for a general purpose trail machine. The Levo SL makes more sense to me than this kenevo SL. I’m still a full fat fan though. 35nm is too low in my opinion. I think the sweet spot for these semi-skimmed variants is 60nm.
Price is a joke, so glad I got my 2019 Levo at a third of the price and it will still be going when you’re battery is flat. You can buy a very good quality motorbike that will do 150mph for the same (or less) money. Kind of think Specialized have lost the plot with pricing.
Good design spoilt by ridiculous pricing, I'd rather fit a mastermind to my Levo for a couple of hundred quid (they are reverse compatible, well done specialized) Also I'm not sure what it actually thinks it is. I reckon you will see it at a Bike park, or downhill as a bike with inbuilt uplift.
People love to complain about the price You can’t afford something, that doesn’t mean that it’s wrong or shouldn’t exist. You can get a moto for the same price or less? Who cares if you don’t want or can’t ride a moto! Work harder, save longer, get finance, or ride something else ✌️
I agree with most comments about the outrageous pricing on specialized bikes. And they are off my radar when it comes time to buy bikes or equipment. I mean... Do I have sucker written on my forehead or something?
Who is agree that kenevo need to be a 80nm power bike, bullit makes more power with same amount of Travel and it is mullet too. Sl bikes should be another ebike class , not a kenevo.
love the bike - it's the one for me except.... price is ri-di-cu-lous, regardless how good an e-mtb it is. For 99% , spending that money on an mtb is insane apart for a tiny minority who choose to just do mtb with their life or those who drive a lambo as a daily runner.
i think specialized mean there is no lighter bike that is more capable, because obviously there are more capable OR lighter bikes, i like this bike, it fits it's purpose, fantastic at going downhill, who cares about going uphill, it's not made for that, but the levo is now lost in the space between the SL and the kenovo, not nearly as good downhill, and no longer the best trail bike, and the SL is just not powerful enough. i'm switching brands, i ordered a Orbea Rise
The way bike manufacturers measure geometry needs to change. Why measure bottom bracket height, head tube angle and seat tube angle when it's going to change the moment you put your weight on it? All geometry specs should be measured with 25% front and 30% rear sag taken into account.
Just another example, if one were needed, of greedy mtb manufacturers trying their best to bleed us dry and price joe public out of the sport. Unless your livelihood depends on it I honestly don't see how any bike could be worth that kind of money! If you're looking at this and thinking 'if only' remember this, the true spirit of mountain biking has never been about the name on your tube but the balls hanging over the seat. Clunkers rule!
Honestly, it’s apples to oranges. I don’t care what you pay, you will never get close to the performance of a Bafang BBSHD or the built in version, like say the Frey. But apples to oranges compared to what ?

Nice bike, but 14,000 pounds and still needing to add 500 to replace to a decent brake set, makes no sense. I´d pay this price when the motor can reach close to 90 Nm and the battery is around 700 Wh at the same SL weight, else same. Before that point, the actual price just seems out of the market curve price.
@guacyume in the 90´s mobile phones came in the form of a bag with a large antenna, 2 hrs lasting battery, and a cable to join the earphone and microphone all weighting around 5-6 kgs.... You know how the story ends today with the smartphones.
On my 2020 kenevo comp at bpw I can do 5/6 full runs if I don’t use turbo , who many could this kenevo sl do ?
Great looking bike !
Why buy an Enduro? Easy. ‘Cause I live in a region of the US where eMTBs are still banned on any trail worth riding. 😢
Oh hell now that's an interesting comment. Sorry to hear that, whereabouts is this?
@@stevejones7956 Boulder, Colorado. But much of the US still does not allow eMTBs on single track. Only moto trails.
We also have a stupid amount of analog bikers that get butt hurt over eMTBs in “their” trails and advocate to keep them off as well 🤦♂️
It’s gradually changing but it’s slow.
Definitely the bike I want if it was a third of the price 😂
Its the Double-E Duro!
Why with all the competitors using 60nm on their sl’s?
Super expensive! Why ?
My feeling is lower torque/power/weight doesn’t quite fit a downhill centred bike in the same way it can for a general purpose trail machine.
The Levo SL makes more sense to me than this kenevo SL. I’m still a full fat fan though. 35nm is too low in my opinion. I think the sweet spot for these semi-skimmed variants is 60nm.
Needs 50nm more??? I would feel seen off on 35nm for 12K. Probably fine at the FOD. It is so flat.
Price is a joke, so glad I got my 2019 Levo at a third of the price and it will still be going when you’re battery is flat. You can buy a very good quality motorbike that will do 150mph for the same (or less) money. Kind of think Specialized have lost the plot with pricing.
Hi there, please be aware that Levos start at £2500 for HT and £4800 for FS
I'm buying a 2020 model for £3700. It's steep but I will enjoy every second of it.
Compare this: a £12,500 bike, or £5,000 bike (still very capable and high end) and roughly 150 days of uplifts?
At £40 an uplift - £6,000. Love my KSL
Good design spoilt by ridiculous pricing, I'd rather fit a mastermind to my Levo for a couple of hundred quid (they are reverse compatible, well done specialized)
Also I'm not sure what it actually thinks it is. I reckon you will see it at a Bike park, or downhill as a bike with inbuilt uplift.
why are they one year ahead?
He should have started at the beginning with : super light, super capable AND SUPER DUPER expensive.
People love to complain about the price
You can’t afford something, that doesn’t mean that it’s wrong or shouldn’t exist.
You can get a moto for the same price or less? Who cares if you don’t want or can’t ride a moto!
Work harder, save longer, get finance, or ride something else ✌️
I'll stick with my Levo Comp. Double the battery, triple the power. Same price
2022 Turbo Levo... Why was there no comparison?
Yes not a Kenevo as we know, but a SL Enduro!
I agree with most comments about the outrageous pricing on specialized bikes.
And they are off my radar when it comes time to buy bikes or equipment. I mean...
Do I have sucker written on my forehead or something?
Can't even get a 2021 ebike never mind 2022🤔🙄
Who is agree that kenevo need to be a 80nm power bike, bullit makes more power with same amount of
Travel and it is mullet too.
Consider buying one from a friend or? I picked up a 22’ Kanevo SL for $4500 usd. Smokin smash bike on trails.
Putting the E in Expensive 😅
Missed out “super expensive”
Never ever will emtbs signal the end of MTBs while they cost stupid amounts of money. How can you ever justify the cost of these bikes.
I think specialised should stop introducing 2022 bikes and get on delivering some of their 2021 bikes which we cant buy anywhere
Aaaand super expensive. They have lost their minds….
As per usual in the bicycle industry, Pricing is a joke ~
Hi there, please be aware that Levos start at £2500 for HT and £4800 for FS
🤔😵 Why delete first video 15 Min before?
They announced the bike even before Specialized did...
i think specialized mean there is no lighter bike that is more capable, because obviously there are more capable OR lighter bikes, i like this bike, it fits it's purpose, fantastic at going downhill, who cares about going uphill, it's not made for that, but the levo is now lost in the space between the SL and the kenovo, not nearly as good downhill, and no longer the best trail bike, and the SL is just not powerful enough. i'm switching brands, i ordered a Orbea Rise
Preferred older levo SL for half price
Better looking , light too
Hi Tristano the Levo SL is a different bike
@@stevejones7956 I know mate,
My friend David Cameron is texting Rishi right now to get me the money I need to buy this
Did you ride Dai Cam's?
nice
Price of emtb's, and getting more affordable is certainly an area that is at the forefront of many brands at minute
I’ll race you for pink slips on my Banshee hardtail.
You pick the uphill and I’ll pick the downhill....
Honestly, it’s apples to oranges. I don’t care what you pay, you will never get close to the performance of a Bafang BBSHD or the built in version, like say the Frey.
But apples to oranges compared to what ?
BEST BANG FOR UR BUCK!!
I like my ebike simple like me, to many options & alterations with this steed.
You buy an e bike for the power to blast you up the hill with ease! If I wanted a light bike I would buy a normal bike. I hope the e bike market changes to making the bikes more affordable and reliable not super light and expensive
Price is perverse especially for a 35Nm bike...
Blevo app has all the same metrics
You're starting to get real "Specialized Lovers". You guys seem no longer independent e-bike journalists.......Shame.
Hi Paul, yes absolutely I am a lover no doubt about that. Specialized are a partner brand. On this channel we give you regular tech insight, knowledge based features, adventure and of course ews - e racing. If there is anything you'd like to know I'm more than happy to give you details
Who on earth can afford these bikes anymore
yet they are still selling out , im not sure either but clearly we dont know enough millionaires or hard core riders who have a terrible car and an awesome bike.
Santa Cruz all the way
Yeh Boi💪
Prices for EMTBs are just insane...for 10k you can get a brand new Enduro MOTORbike (Yamaha YZ250F).
why would you buy the enduro you ask? BECAUSE IT DOES NOT COST 15 FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS
Omg. I had to refinance my car just to afford an Enduro and Steve is like " no reason to buy an Enduro". Wow, elitist eh? It's only 11,000$ guess I will continue to love gassing out on the uphills
No need to fall for the sales pitch, no need for an s-works either they’re just biked designed to extract money from the rich
@@JayGee6996 They are overpriced but your statement is hyperbole. Dial it back to the reasonableness you are demanding of them.
@@unfurling3129 not hyperbole at all, over £10,000 for a push bike is not even close to a reflection of the cost of R&D + manufacturing costs. They are priced at what people are willing to pay at the top end, the sworks is awful value for money but people with deep pockets will pay the money so they can say they have the best bike. the same goes for the components on the sworks, the component manufacturers are also stealing from the rich. Not a problem in my eyes but it is what it is and it's not hyperbole. The same is now happening with superbikes, they used to be 10-12k tops, when they realised they could start to take the piss the price, mainly due to pcp loans, you're now seeing flagship bikes selling for 20-30k. The same happened with iphones. It's everywhere and it's not just inflation or the cost of manufacturing. As long as people are willing to pay the prices will keep going up
A bike for over weight, unfit rich old men! It’s getting like top gear, saying how great lambos and Ferraris are that 99.99% of people just can’t afford and can only dream about. If you’re that obsessed by bike weight and therefore smaller motors and batteries get fit and buy a regular mtb.
I'm definitely not an overweight rich person, Im very fit and have a good job, where I live I'll be able to do twice as many runs and still get a good workout.
@@brhoades3870 you don't need a £13000 bike to get a good workout!
@@TCK71 you don't need a $2k bike to get a good workout, you don't even need a bike. What's your point?
@@brhoades3870 My point is…. it’s way overpriced.
@@TCK71 that's your opinion.
14k What a joke!
That's a machine but who the hell will pay that for a bike. Must be mad.
I really don’t see the point. This is not a kenevo!! The vast majority of people who buy an e-mtb are not concerned about the weight. It’s 19.6 kg. That’s 3-5kg less than a normal kenevo ( depending on what size you ride). This is Less travel. Less power. Less battery. Buy a kenevo 21 save yourself near 6 grand. And just put it in eco. 🤷♂️. £8750 and £12500 😆🤦♂️ bonkers price tags
I'd buy an Enduro because I don't have money for thjis
Actual lol, 35nm? Specialized missing the point...
Yhea not sure about the constant shade you insist on throwing at the traditional MtBs all the time. I get why but it's sad to see someone who used to love riding non emtb for so long discourage others from doing it now.
Yes it's not one or the other but both naturally aspirated and Emtbs that is the pleasure of cycling. But the magic of Emtbs is they turn us into gleeful kids again and broaden our ability to explore terrain multiplying the benefits of one of mans greatest gravity inventions the bicycle. I use my naturally aspirated Mtb as a training tool for Emtbs when away from my favorite full on Mtb tracks in Derby Tasmania. E=Mtb²
@@robhaskins3068 oh I fully support playing up the fun and brilliance of emtb just don't like the crap throwing, especially by someone who enjoyed the sport themselves so much for so long.
@@itarry4 I can understand your frustration at Steve's comment but I suppose it depends on the image we have of have of ourselves at our stage of life .I think it's all about human evolution where some peoples ego's won't allow their brains to EVOLVE to match the technology available that allows them to enjoy life even more. I often ride up past people struggling in difficult terrain and say Why would you Not want to Explore new Grounds. Purist run the trails barefoot or swim the English channel unassisted. But that's only my thinking. They are not for racing just FUN FUN FUN.
@@robhaskins3068 totally get the appeal and as I've got heart issues they're actually the only way I can even ride so... Its the negative against the mtb I don't like just as I don't like or understand the opposite. Why not both for whoever wants it. Steve is actively trying to get people away from a sport he did himself and loved and for many young fit people can easily be a better idea, especially a better starting point. Everyone should stick to big uping the 1 they like and leave the putting down of the other out. It's not that Steve is pro ebike and I hate the opposite of people who only want mtb to exist. Just both sides need to stop being sides and accept that both have merit.
@@itarry4 Yes I agree with you that we should respect everyone's çhoice of bike even single speed rigid Mtb.
It doesn't even look like a EMTB
does the motor even make sense i feel like a 8kg hardtail accelerates quicker than this heavy bike
