I love the Specialized Levo and have owned two of them. My only complaint is the Brose motor, my first Levo was a 2019 Expert and the belt failed on the motor at 800 miles. Specialized was very good replacing the motor at no cost to me. I traded that bike in for 2022 Specialized Levo Pro and just recently again the Brose belt failed at 1,600 miles. But this time I was offered a replacement motor for $600.00. I opted to have the motor rebuilt and upgraded by “eBike Motor Repair”. Because of all the riding down time with motor failures, I was forced to purchase a backup 2022 Orbea Wild eBike. 😢
The current levo is a great bike as an all round package. Not always the best value for money, but everything is better integrated than most other brands, plus there are often good sales on them. The only thing that im less keen on is the asthetic of the motor housing. I expect that will be addressed in the future. Dispite being out for a while its still a benchmark model.

I'm now in the market for a new bike but the 2024 model isnt exciting me over the competition and with nothing new planned I need to look around.
Smaller bottom bracket that looks more like a regular bike instead of this great big thing. Love the handling the versatility of the bike. I've never had a problem with the motor but a lot of people sure have.
current Levo g3 is amazing, however I put 170mm Zeb + Cascade Long travel link to make amazing :) the only issue is the motor reliability .... fix that and it'll be perfect bike. (maybe a bit more clearance under BB? )
Love the Specialized customer support, I’ve currently got a Gen 3 Levo Expert. Had a Kenevo SL comp before this. I want reliability! Love the way the bikes ride, but needed a new wiring loom in the Kenevo SL plus a new motor at 1700 miles. Needed a new motor in the Levo at 1500 miles. To there credit and a local dealer all done under warranty and quickly too. So I am happy to buy the same brand when I get a new bike. But I would like to see testing in UK conditions as those motors don’t seem to last very long. Reliability reliability reliability!
I have a turbo, levo gen 3 The bike is truly amazing. Talking about reliability, I was hoping you had discussed the future of electric mountain bike drive trains. I think the future is going to be gearboxes with belt drives. I believe this would bring great benefits and much more reliability than existing systems
I'm still on original levo from 2015 , great bike even by today standards, also set the tone for industry. it did not have display, like Steve mentioned
Went through to two s-works Levo’s gen 2 & 3 I believe , both had full motor replacements under warranty and one battery…..love the bikes and only switched to a Pivot AM, as I felt it rode better. I also got annoyed at how specialized treats my local dealer, hopefully they don’t forget about the enthusiasts shops along the way.
Specialized definitely needs to add a MGU with belt drive to their ebikes lineup, that would be my dream SUV bike you guys can add the pinion system to your ebikes. Come one already.
I ride a 2022 Levo s2. Great bike. Just a thought, I’d really like slightly longer chainstays. Even in long/low I feel the front center : rear center ratio is a bit wonky
Transmission is the key to innovation in modern mountain biking, if you still release a bike with cassette and derailleur system today is already old because that's the weakest part of the bikes today... talking about reliability is absolutely agreeable but seriously transmission on e-mountain bikes needs a serious revolution otherwise you're talking about nothing.
...was the benchmark up until 2021... they've been leveled up by Trek, Orbea, Canyon, YT, Giant etc. Time to update with new gen and compete against full powered lighter weight Raymon ZF-90 and AMFlow DJI-110.
I had a generation one SL comp put a slack R headset changed the front end to 64°. Then I got a generation three Turbo Levo comp. I ride in the hills behind Laguna Beach. I live up on the hill in Laguna Niguel. I could ride my SL down to the park with no power. And the bike had no drag in the system, it felt like a normal mountain bike. With the Turbo Levo, I always have to have the power on therefore it uses more power from the battery. When you turn the motor off on that bike, it feels like there’s a 20 mile an hour headwind. On the SL I could do three different rides each approximately 10 miles. On the Turbo Levo because I have to use the power full-time I can only do two rides. I would like a full powered bike that weighs 43 to 45 pounds max. With no drag in the system.
My Gen 2 Levo has been generally a very good bike but on my third battery in less than four years despite doing everything by the book to care for it. I live and ride mostly in North Wales hills and more attention needs to be paid to keeping water out of electrical components. Very disappointed to have to pay £450 toward my third battery after the 2nd only lasted 37 charging cycles. I contested it was not fit for purpose but Specialized disagreed. Brought into focus the elephant in the emtb room namely massive purchase price but virtually worthless thereafter. Either we continue to pay extortionate prices for components or wind up with a piece of scrap metal. Much as I love riding , sad to say as a retired pensioner I will struggle to justify buying another bike when my current one becomes uneconomical to repair. If I were to spend the same purchase price on an off road motorcycle , it would continue to have a residual value towards an upgrade for many years. Not so with an emtb.
I ride a Levo G3 which I love but it’s very heavy for me, a 54yr old female. I have trouble lifting it over obstacles and on to my bike rack. Please consider making the G4 sub 20kg. Plus if you can include the option for bottle cage addition batteries I can join my friends on multi day rides where charging isn’t an option. Thanks
They just need a WAY more reliable motor. I have 3 friends with Levos - ALL are on their 3rd motor. My previous gen Kenevo had 3 motors. My current gen Kenevo is now on its 4th!! And I had to pay €600 towards the last one, even though it was within the 4y bike warranty, because the 3rd motor they put in was just under 2ys in and although it was allegedly 'improved over the orignal (and the 2nd one)" it then only came with a 2y warranty. It is absolutely disgraceful!
Well, I agree that reliability is crucial and lightness does not come often with it but I would say reducing the weight is the way to go. The SL should have much more focus as it will attract more analog bikers. Having tried both FP Levo and SL, I better stayed with analog bike than the FP. SL is a game changer, it makes analog bikes obsolete. It is all the bike you need. It just need to get a bot more power and a bit bigger battery. Yes, it would be heavier, but here comes R&D, make it same weight.
What We Want is a Kenevo With MGU and Belt and a 750wh Battery and Alloy Frame to Keep cost Down And a Weight of 24KG ,Now Go and Make it Happen ?Oh And Ready For Next Summer🙂
Glad I bought a Santa Cruz after hearing nothing from these guys. The Kenevo needs the Levo motor to be on par with the competition. As stated in this video more guys prefer more power than less power and less weight. Exactly why I went with the Bullit vs Kenevo.
I’ll take my full fat aluminum frame Kenevo any day over a bullet. I ride with two guys with bullets they always run out of power due to much smaller batteries, plus I can set up easily as a full 29er, or set up as a mullet or ride as stock with full 27.5. Quick change to 29er front fork lowers on the stock Boxxer fork makes all that possible very easily.
Reliability and durability would be nice.. had my levo sl for 7 months, within 4 weeks the remote on the handle bars packed up and needed to be replaced. It sat at the store for 4 weeks waiting for new unit. After 5 months the motor had permanent failure which was another 2 weeks bike less. The rear hub has also failed and the rear rim is softer than warm butter, bent with an insert and I'm not even running low pressure, 32 psi on the rear. My mates new kenevo sl display just packed up and his rim has also folded already within 2 months of buying the bike.
Power is an interesting subject when it comes to eBikes, too much power can sometimes be as bad as too little. Some companies believe that 90-95nm is the sweet spot 🤘
Yep, much higher priorities than more power. I don't even use the boost on my bosch and been up all sorts of tech steep hills. But I worry about rain and puddles coming = higher priority.
👍You don't need more torque that you can handle. It's why the two stroke 500cc motocross biken is just a memory for collection😂. I love my Specialized Levo SL S-Works Carbon 1.1 that I built from frameset so much, that I bough one more frameset and built one more to have as a spare bike😂. These bike have 170mm Öhlin and Fox Factory forks and Fox Factory coli 216x63mm at the rear, Roval carbon wheels, XTR groups hole through. I have also a Orbea Rise 60Nm total rebuilt with Öhlin 170mm fork Fox Factory coil 216x63mm damper and DT-SWISS mullet 1200 carbon wheels. I tryed a 85Nm Yamaha moro that I rebuilt to Marvic mullet, Öhlin 170mm fork and Fox Factory coil 216x63mm damper, this bike rebuilt to standard and sold it to my friend hwo need to train😂, because I didn't whant torque, but exercise with a bike easy to handle😉
Great bikes. They just don't need to chase weight reduction at the risk of less durability. We want to keep riding not be stranded in the middle of nowhere. For the money you want something that lasts and you can rely on. Accept that motors and batteries will be weighty if you want assistance, or you are on the wrong bike.
How will Specialized support older M1 bike owners, especialy battery wise? I have few first gen Turbo Levo FSR bikes and for each few batteries that are now all dead. No spare parts, no support.
My gen 3 Levo motor went after one year and 1 day, but specialized were great to deal with for warranty. However they need to allow users to upgrade the TCU to mastermind as software locking is disappointing. Not everyone can afford the super bikes and I wanted aluminium, not carbon. I want to spend money with Specialized for a TCU as my budget allows, but they won’t allow it. Forcing me to spend significant money to upgrade to a new bike, as the only way to get Mastermind, seems unreasonable. For me, it significantly takes away from an otherwise great bike.
very nice, but it is difficult to understand that the masterminds of spe came here without letting you try the levo g4! and as usual all the youtubers will release their video at the same time in 2 months ...
My shimano motor unit has failed. Motor and torque sensor are both working perfectly, but an internal ($50) cog has worn out. Shimano offer no servicing or maintenance and the only solution is to replace the entire unit for nearly $2K. 18000km in 5 years and they claim that I should be happy with that. They want $2K because a $50 cog failed!? Off to court we go.
It would be interesting to get SOME info especially on battery nd/or specs and timing of products coming to the market … usp of specialized presently not there … 😞
It's only the Levo SL (Super Light) that runs the 320wh batteries. These models can also be used with range extenders. The full power Levo uses 500 or 700wh batteries depending on the spec level.
Click bait.. EMBN your better that this. I have owned all Gen Levos.. their good, but far from the best bike, especially considering cost to value. Brose announced a 48 V 95 NM system a while back. That's all Spesh is bringing out . With some new software similar to Shimano.
All the engines from previous generations suck, only the good response to warranties saves them. Looking forward to seeing how the next more basic carbon bike will cost more than 8000 usd.

Love the handling the versatility of the bike. I've never had a problem with the motor but a lot of people sure have.
current Levo g3 is amazing, however I put 170mm Zeb + Cascade Long travel link to make amazing :)
the only issue is the motor reliability ....
fix that and it'll be perfect bike.
"What comes next?"... and they talk about Tyres...
I'am at 16:55... and they say nothing about a new KSL, or anything else!
I am OR I'm . Not I'am.
@@vashon100 Thx!
New kenevo 29er and mullet option coil shock maybe tad lighter
I have a 2022 Turbo Levo & I love it 🫶🏻
I have a turbo, levo gen 3 The bike is truly amazing.
"When can we expect the Gen 4 Levo?"
- September 30th 2024 😜
Went through to two s-works Levo’s gen 2 & 3 I believe , both had full motor replacements under warranty and one battery…..love the bikes and only switched to a Pivot AM, as I felt it rode better. I also got annoyed at how specialized treats my local dealer, hopefully they don’t forget about the enthusiasts shops along the way.
I love my Specialized Ebike 😊
"Super Nice!!!" to the camera man breathing heavily on the mic 🤣
I did wonder what that was in the background 😂
I want to start seeing more Aluminum bike builds across all brands. Carbon is great but not needed.
i missed the question - what about the turbo kenevo ... we be missing any news since years
WOW! Did we just have a full episode of EMBN without Mr Shimano Bosch Jones saying either Bosch or Shimano? Unbelievable!
2018 Gen 1 levo with BLEvo app was best bike for me, now i ride 2023 Pro and I don’t like power delivery on it.
Specialized definitely needs to add a MGU with belt drive to their ebikes lineup, that would be my dream SUV bike you guys can add the pinion system to your ebikes. Come one already.
I was a big fan of Specialized until I saw the Kellys Theos F100 review. Now that’s a stunning front runner.
I ride a 2022 Levo s2. Great bike. Just a thought, I’d really like slightly longer chainstays. Even in long/low I feel the front center : rear center ratio is a bit wonky
HaHaHaHa! 😂😂😂 Excellent try Mr Jones. I really enjoyed their squirming and how good humoured it all was. Very good from you all, thanks 🎉
Love my 2022 levo , no issues at all , give me a full fat 24+ kg bike all day long
...was the benchmark up until 2021... they've been leveled up by Trek, Orbea, Canyon, YT, Giant etc. Time to update with new gen and compete against full powered lighter weight Raymon ZF-90 and AMFlow DJI-110.
Gen 2 climbs much better than gen 3 gen 3 is only slightly better at decending gen 2 rocks still
I had a generation one SL comp put a slack R headset changed the front end to 64°.
THIS GUYS LIKE THE GRANDTOURING OF E BIKES
it's just sad that the motor (belt?) lasts only 3500km (which is less than a year for me) :(
Run gen 3 bit longer make new full fat kenevo
Reliable motors would be good 😮
What We Want is a Kenevo With MGU and Belt and a 750wh Battery and Alloy Frame to Keep cost Down And a Weight of 24KG ,Now Go and Make it Happen ?Oh And Ready For Next Summer🙂
Like to see them remove the software locks to allow tcu upgrade to mastermind Levi’s with older tcu.
we want -
gearbox / motor
belt drive
antilock brakes
did i miss anything ?
reliable water proof motor
Reliability and durability would be nice.. had my levo sl for 7 months, within 4 weeks the remote on the handle bars packed up and needed to be replaced. It sat at the store for 4 weeks waiting for new unit. After 5 months the motor had permanent failure which was another 2 weeks bike less. The rear hub has also failed and the rear rim is softer than warm butter, bent with an insert and I'm not even running low pressure, 32 psi on the rear. My mates new kenevo sl display just packed up and his rim has also folded already within 2 months of buying the bike.
I think 100 NM is really all you need right now. Advances Should be in motor engagement and efficiency as well as well as better lighter batteries.
Continental dh tryrs on e bike corner miles better than any other brand rubbers stiffer
I am disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm from these guys.
Spesh is most likely coming out soon with something given that these two guys show up for an interview... 🧐
Gen 2 Levo. Still relevant. Still rips. Still waiting for an excuse to upgrade……….
Great episode! maybe lift the camera angle up a bit and lose the water bottle off the table
Why are specialized prices so damn high? And it’s been this way since the 90s. 11000 to 18000 dollars for a bike in Canada is just insane.
according to a german emtb forum Brose has finalized the Brose Peak3 motor 😂
It would be interesting to get SOME info especially on battery nd/or specs and timing of products coming to the market … usp of specialized presently not there … 😞
Get a motor that works and doesn't have to be changed twice a year, and do away with pathetic 320w batteries.
Bafang ultra 52v is what you are looking for
It's only the Levo SL (Super Light) that runs the 320wh batteries. These models can also be used with range extenders. The full power Levo uses 500 or 700wh batteries depending on the spec level.
I'd like to see a full powered levo at 42 lbs. with 95 nms.
Ich erwarte nichts welt bewegendes von BIG S das levo gen3 ist nach wie vor ein top emtb, geometry, mullet, 90nm und app integration..
Doesn't seem terribly difficult to parameterize the responsiveness of the motor to include variables like conditions, geometry, and tires.
We want an in closed electric gearbox and belt drive.
enclosed vs in closed
I think October 2024. As some Prices of "Older" Bikes are dropping already..
Nokia was biggest phone seller...... Levo carbon 23 owner... Great bike anyway
Click bait.. EMBN your better that this.
I have owned all Gen Levos.. their good, but far from the best bike, especially considering cost to value.
Brose announced a 48 V 95 NM system a while back. That's all Spesh is bringing out . With some new software similar to Shimano.
blabla nothing new
A bike that has E-components upgrade potentiial... Ie standards for frames so E components can be upgraded.
What is next for ebike ? Maybe a reliable motor for a change!
I got a gen 3 levo had a shot of my brose kenevo thought mm should off got a kenevo climbs same as levo in terms of lower and speed
Did they ever seen Orbea Rise? Much better bike, lighter, more powerful, lot more customizable…
What specialized rider's want? A different bike
then buy a different bike :D you dont need to buy a speci. buy an orbea or a cube when you want a different one
riders vs rider's
I’m fairly sure they just been looking at the new bikes, why would they all be out there with Steve?
All the engines from previous generations suck, only the good response to warranties saves them. Looking forward to seeing how the next more basic carbon bike will cost more than 8000 usd.
