Weekend In Torquay - Part One - BYGONES Vlog 11th March 2023

- Join us as we head to Torquay in the beautiful English Riviera, Devon for a weekend away, we visited Bygones Victorian Street in Babbacombe and much more
The plans was to get to Babbacombe a lot earlier and visit Babbacombe Model Village and the Cliff Funicular Railway first however they were both closed, when I arriving we drove past Bygones and had no idea how good it was
We then had a short stroll around the local town centre, bought some cakes and food for Tilly and then headed to The Imperial Hotel to check in, this hotel is big and grand and also built in 1866 apparently, we had a clean and cosy seaview room with garden balcony
We then headed to the beautiful crystal clear watered harbour and had a walk around where we spent son money in the slot machine arcade and then ended with a lovely meal at the Harvester

It was outdated but was ok
I was there in February, took my dog with me round the model village. No one else was there. We had a look inside the shop at Bygones, but didn't go in because the dog was getting bored by that point and he needed a proper walk. :)

We're not that far away from torquay as been to the bygones a couple of times. Love the old "arcade games". I grew up about 20 mins away from flambards and their victorian village. If you happen to Visit down here again this year a couple of good places are the hmp dartmoor museum in princetown and watermouth Bay Castle in Ilfracombe that has loads and loads of old fashion 1p/2p/5p arcade machines and old fashion rides etc think you'd enjoy it 😊
Edit to add I think you missed out the war time stuff unless. You didn't show it. It's just past the old machines.

A great little gem this! Went when I was around 3 years old, so not long after it opened! I was properly fascinated by the model railways. Also went around 10 years ago or so! Awesome vlog Andy

Apart from Plymouth another good market town to visit is Tavistock 40 minuets from Plymouth

Hi Andy went to Torquay last year we stayed in Brixham though. Our first time down to south Devon. We usually go to North Devon Woolacombe and Ilfracombe and Combe Martin are lovely. We spent the day in Torquay It was quite a nice place . Your hotel wasn't to bad least you had a nice view and it was clean . The Bygones was ok looks a lot to look after though. There was a Bygones heritage village in great Yarmouth back in the 90s we went it was very similar to where you went but had a lot of outside space with old steam engines and organs and old pub etc . Tilly is just so cute bless her . Thanks for sharing with us love to you all as always Tracey 💕 xxxx

Heading down that way next weekend, especially for Bygones and the Model village so great to get a reminder of what we previously enjoyed. The Imperial looks so good (from a distance!) looks like you got a lot of space for your money at the hotel to be fair, be good to see it properly renovated one day. Extremely good video, cheers

Hi Andy gutted u got the wrong weekend I'm down there on the 2 April for week there 3 funfairs in the area Teignmouth painton and Plymouth all grounds run by anton and rolands de ver family bygones is good babbacome village is cool I'm down there about 4 5 times a year have a good look around it's good

That aviary place used to be 'Living coasts' with penguins, seals and birds. Was a part of Paignton zoo and closed down a few years ago

Sadly torbay is in deep decline highest suicide 2nd highest divorce 3rd for single mums and highest homeless for Devon and no 1 for alcoholics and over run hospitals
When the town is busy and the sun is out is beautiful but in the winter it's dark place to live
Next you go you need to go and have a cream tea at the angle tea room just Down the for the rail way.

We stayed at holidayinn express at Exeter when we went to Torquay, Paignton etc, wasn't too far away ,, looked a ok hotel and having that outside space was really nice xx

Reminds me of the old village attraction they have in flambards in Cornwall, I believe that one is based on London, I remember they had a simulation of the blitz that had the same old smoky smell
