Boss Analysis # 59

  • The fifty-ninth episode of Boss Analysis.
The Halloween season is upon us once again, the nights draw in faster, the weather gets colder (Well, USUALLY, grumble grumble...) and the world becomes spookier in general.
This is the perfect time to make a Boss Analysis episode based on scary bosses based on famous monsters: Vampires, mummies, ghosts, zombies, or if not that, then the video game bosses who scare me the most and why, along with strategies on how to kick them right in!
But... ugh... I can't be bothered... of all the Seven Deadly Sins, the one I struggle against the most has to be Sloth; If I were to give into my true nature, I could quite happily sit down and play video games all day, every day until goodness knows what would happen...
Dead Rising 3 has seven psychopath battles (the bosses of the series) based on each of the Seven Deadly Sins. Perhaps the most interesting of these to me is the psychopath that embodies Sloth...
This video is a sequel of sorts to Boss Analysis # 30: • Boss Analysis # 30

Something that would be pretty funny, and expanding upon your videogame idea would be that the boss fight would be in VR, Nick gets all of his regular stats transfered while the psychopath plays as an incredibly generic avatar and maybe even featureless that reuses attacks from previous psychopath bosses from the previous games, like Adam's chainsaws, Cliff's hiding gimmick, Antoine's pans, and if you want to be really mean, Sullivan's uppercut. After all, nothing says sloth like reusing the AI from your previous games shamelessly.

I think that a clever sloth battle would be one where it feels almost like a lazy psychic is fighting you. In other words, he will be able to fight you with little effort while you have to put in a ton.
It initially goes the same as the regular fight, but the drones are a bit better at their job and more numerous. Once you break a panel or two though, he understands that you're serious and pulls out all the stops.
Using traps funded by his infinite money cheats, objects begin flying across the house, lasers make it tougher to dodge said objects, those drones are still there, and he just sits in some part of the basement behind a makeshift shield. The lasers also get tighter in the basement hallway, but he can't get objects into that area. The drones can just fine, though.
Once you finally get past all the flying objects, lasers, and drone bullets, you can finally watch him die of a heart attack from the shock of seeing you breach all of his defenses. He even falls onto a conveniently placed shutoff button, so the trip back outside is a refreshing jog instead of more Matrix shenanigans.

It just seems appropriate that the Sloth boss doesn't even care enough to make a challenging boss fight

I for one love the idea of going down into the basement to get the key, only for Teddy to challenge you to a game of Street Fighter 2. Winner gets the key, loser gets killed.

For a second, I thought it would put you on a Fetch Quest like that Diva with Hostages...
As for how to improve him, you could give him a strong ass Zombie Security Guard he just failed to notice became one and sic him on you, maybe have you advance all the clocks in his house to make him think the firebombing is happening and force him out but also have lots of zombies chilling in certain rooms with them (He left the windows open or some shit) and failing to do the clock minigame alerts them by making alot of noise...

I love the mech ideas, but doing stuff like making robots would be too involved and active for a Sloth character (unless it was his father's, but that may affect lore too much). My idea would be to have the house be a pigsty with furniture flipped over, boxes, waste and more strewn about, making the entire mansion a tripping hazard AND an obstacle course! He could also have left some entrances open, allowing zombies to get in; the higher the difficulty, the more stuff he leaves open, and the more zombies there are! Nightmare Mode would add the dope, of course.

3:53 I don't know if this is true or not, but a channel by the name of "TheNiskelLP" said that you also have to do a side quest where a survivor is found in front of a armory and you have to get him some guns

Imagine if Teddy did something like the Master in the original Fallout. But less body horror! In this case, a turret chair that he operates remotely. You'd have to leap behind cover, inching your way closer, and then beat the stuffing out of him up-close. It could even be like the Master fight with Super Mutants pouring in behind you... or in this case, zombies, given they already show up more and more if you take too long upstairs.

I'll guess I'll mention in Shantae and the Seven Sirens, the sirens are based on the seven deadly sins.

Hey Git, have you ever played the Gunvolt series? High octaine run n' gun platformer by IntiCreates?
Well, the bosses in the first game are based off the sins, too. The one that represents Sloth is this dude called Merak. He fights you while in a hover chair with arms, and he barely moves an inch from it; you're moreso fighting his chair than him. But the thing is, he has this psychic power called a Septima that lets him conjur wormholes, and his chair punches and shoots missles through the wormholes. He even shoots a bigass laser through it.
I think warping space with wormholes is a perfect power for a Sloth to have. Merak's a real laze ass, too: he floods his base while you're playing through his level to try and kill you, *with his goons still inside no less!* Although his fight's a lot more challenging than Teddy's, that's for sure.

I do have an idea for the Sloth boss fight (Nightmare Mode Exclusive) Where the drones now hit for half a block of health, they take more than 1 or 2 hits to blow up and they spawn more frequently. As for the zombies, they spawn faster and half of them are the special zombies. And for something nobody asked for, because of the upgraded drones, the cranes in the crane boss fight are easier to destroy, because they have less machinery to work with, they break a little easier and they move a little slow. This only happens if you choose to do the Sloth boss fight. So there's an incentive to doing the boss fight.

To improve the fight? Why not be as slothful as Teddy in that regard?
The .50 cal guns on the helicopters are now about as effective as they would be in real life. Getting hit more than twice probably spells the end for you.

    • @raziyatheseeker
      @raziyatheseeker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Dude, exactly. Either the helicopters are shooting .22 rounds and not aiming for vitals, or they're shooting BBs. Either way, it's surprisingly low damage for automatic fire.

That's weird. He probably ate so much junk food while hiding there instead of healthy food and never standing up for a long while must have made him fat, pudgy and out of shape. Resulting in his body malnourished and being sleep-deprived at the time you enter his home.
But rotting and SHITTING HIMSELF after he dies that was a bit much

Personally, I'd just tweak the helicopter AI. I mean, why even bother to control the damn things himself when he can have a script or AI run them on autopilot? Would make them more of a threat and that would allow them to still be problematic during the escape afterwards.

The basic framework is easy to build off of; boss is too fat and lazy to fight in person and hides behind tons of traps and automated defenses. In addition to the drone copters and lasers he could have auto-turrets with motion trackers that do double duty of killing zombies. It's clear he paid someone else to install all this stuff, so you can go nuts. More thematically, some traps can shoot tranquilizer darts to put you to sleep a la The End in Metal Gear Solid 3. Sure, you'll wake up in a few hours but those are hours wasted off your total time.
He could also subsist on zombie flesh delivered to him by the mansion's systems which would zombify him when he dies, resulting in a fat slobbering zombie waddling at you. Though we already had a boss attack by puking his belly could crush you.
