- Jay got me to watch Dragon Ball for the first time ever. I didn't grow up with this anime, so I wanted to give some of my honest thoughts on the story and take a look at what made Dragon Ball so special to people. At this point, the Dragon Ball franchise is massive, including Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Super, a ton of movies and even various video games. That's not even mentioning the source material by manga creative genius, Akira Toriyama. Hey, if you guys are into the Anime genre, some shows I'd recommend watching (especially if you like RPG elements incorporated into said animes):
Black Clover (A personal top favorite of mine, has some similar themes about "breaking limits" like Dragonball)
Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (really leans heavily into RPG elements like levelling, loot drops, and, well, dungeons, another top favorite of mine)
Goblin Slayer (another heavy leaner into RPG elements, but WARNING: also heavily more leans into darker and more mature themed tones. Nothing outright sex related on screen but lots of potentially awkward mentions of what happens to girls when they're captured by goblins)
Konosuba (another RPG adventuring based anime, leans far MORE heavily into slapstick comedy. Great for a good laugh and makes you feel better about your own self-worth after watching)
Death March (Also RPG/Dungeon based, only 1 season of this show exists but what's there is really good)
Farming Life in another world (KINDA RPG based, but as the title suggests, more focused on farming. Great "feel good" anime because its about a guy who REALLY wins at life, and light in tone. Nothing sexual on screen but lots of women and harem suggestive at times)
My Hero Academia (From the Super Hero Genre. Great if you're into Heroes or comic books. Because the show is an anime and not live action, they have far more creative freedom with character design and power sets. Great for breaking someone "new" into the anime genre)
Death Note (Murder Mystery genre. Not so much a mystery of "who" but why. this is a show that's mostly from the VILLAIN's point of view and is basically a sherlock holmes vs. any bad-guy story but from the bad-guy's perspective. The master detective in this show is simply named "L" but the thriller aspect of this show is superb. It also has elements of fantasy as Gods of Death and their powers legit exist in this universe)
Just a few of my top choices. I've been watching the genre for a while now but I've only scratched the surface of it. I'm really enjoying the hell out of it though and I'm looking forward to the decades I've missed out on in my youth to watch now.
My favorite arc of dragon ball is the demon king piccolo. The stakes were high a lot of amazing characters died. I don't want to spoil it but this arc is one of the best arc in the show. Thanks for the vid Jill & Jay God bless you both. Also there's a monkey King video game coming out in August I would love if you guys play it.
Amazing saga. That's my favorite too and led to one of the best characters ever.

I really love this channel and wanted to let you both know. My favorite arc might be the one surrounding the first tournament, just because it's so awesome to see how much Goku grew in such a short period of time.
Yeah the martial arts tournament is amazing. I loved Roshi's Jackie Chun disguise
It will be really fun to hear what you think of the different continuities of the series. I think both do things better than the other.

Omg I love that this is happening guys I’m so excited. I love the demon king piccolo arc. Also a close favorite is the final filler arc with goku and chichi. Can’t wait to see your reactions as the plot progresses. I subbed.

One of the most balling stories in fictional history
the thing is, a lot of the so-called "sexual" stuff that we saw in the original Dragonball was at least played up for slap-stick comedy. It wasn't like there was any real ill-intent there. For instance, Roshi would always do his thing were he'd get too handsy or too close to a woman, the woman would slap him silly or beat the S***t out of him, he'd hilariously be bruised and dazed, the show moves on.
Another great example was when Yamcha accidentally spotted Bulma naked while she slept. Nothing bad actually happened, instead he freaked out and blew his own op of trying to steel the dragonballs because he was deathly afraid of women at the time. He was so terrified he literally had nipples into his eyeballs for dramatic/comedic effect when he freaked out. But again, no real ill-intent there.
The fact is if you watch the show, you know the woman always comes out on top when someone like Roshi tries to get too pervy because the men always fail epically and hilariously. That's just how dragonball as a show operates.
trust me, there are plenty of actual animes out there were the P***n isn't so suggestive and is outright and in your face. Dragonball is literally child's play compared to those.
I think you just have some real whiney and sensitive people in the our western countries who need to thicken their skin a bit.

This is by far one of my favorite anime series. The classic manga is so fun too.
