Our VRF Grab Bags (GB) videos are compiled from content from our cameras as Mods and fans spot something neat while watching our cameras. In the GB you will, of course, find a variety of TRAIN content, special trains, maintenance, steam, diesels, interesting rail cars, cool paint schemes and more. You will also find fun people, city events, boats, planes, cars (sometimes going wild) and nature. Thank you for taking the time to sit back and enjoy these highlight reels that we call "Grab Bags"! - บันเทิง
I think we all feel the same way about the person that caused the Train to go into emergency and stressed out the crew. We also hope someone recognizes him and notifies the authorities. And thank all of you for being civil about it when something like this happens.
Oh boo ho ho
lol, we all grief in different ways, let it all out...@@AllanLoveJr
@@AllanLoveJrsuicide isnt funny
@@AllanLoveJr I think you should ride in the cab on a train with grade crossings and get back to us.
If I were the engineer or conductor..I'd have to go for a little stroll😊
This Grab Bag is dedicated to memory of Klaatu (think that’s how you spell his username), a longtime viewer on the La Plata railfan streams. He was diagnosed with cancer on February 17, 2024 and passed away February 20th, 2024. He will be missed on the La Plata chat.
May he Rest In Peace and everyone at LAP have fond memories.
Oh nooo 😢
Condolences to his family and friends
O my goodness 🙏🏻♥️
Oh no I'm soo sorry to read this 😢 I just don't know what to say to 😢😢
I totally agree....crews should NEVER have to go through this!
10:13
Kudos to the engineer who saw the person attempting to beat the train and immediately started blowing the horn.
good that the person also realized they had no chance of crossing safely
I was so glad to see him realize that he had no chance of making it.
12:27 i hope that man is arrested for disturbing the peace, and interfering with the railroad.
Yeah I agree but that mean literally played chicken with that train.
Looks like pictures were taken by a car passenger. The lousy local paper might have something about it.
That was just plain rude. He had no care in the world of anybody else but himself.
I was on an Amtrak train travelling across rural Nebraska when the train did an screaming stop. Out of the window I saw a pickup zooming off along a country road. The onboard staff says it's a game of chicken the local kids play with the train. They park on a crossing, make the train stop, then zoom off.
On the bright side, he did provide some entertainment value.
LOVED that La Plata sunset on the day that Klaatu died! God was telling us that he was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by that GORGEOUS sky. RIP, sir! 😢🙏
That dude that caused the train to go into emergemcy.....he needs.....nevermind. I don't want to get flagged.
I think we all feel the same way, thanks for being civil.
@@joepeach997 You're welcome. This is just...what if for whatever reason the train derailed when it went into emergency? Some people.
@@generalmoonstoneThat scenario happened in my hometown around 1993 or 1994. Someone did that with an empty coal train. The train went into emergency and derailed. They did find the person and they spent time in jail.
Can they be arrested for that? They should.
Yeah got some ideas...
I hate it every time someone would step out like that in front of my train... you never knew if they were serious or not. Usually they weren't serious, but you can't take that chance. I can almost head the engineer saying the expletive that matches his horn as his train grinds to a stop. I've been there a few times myself and it just sucks. And unfortunately I bet Flagstaff PD was nowhere near to arrest that guy or at least get him the help he needs.
He obviously needs help. That's not normal behavior.
@@srvntlilly yeah that's an a$$hole behavior.. he needs to be locked up
Always hurts my heart to see these folks....who are obviously suffering from a mental break...walk out like that wanting to harm themselves in the mist horrific way imaginable, then traumatize the crew. Hope this person is identified and placed on a hold.
When we saw the chap stop on the tracks waving his arms, we both said”is it a suicide action”? We both worked in psych situations so this could have been a real situation, but instead a numb nut trying for attention. To the crew who are slowly recovering from rapid heart rate and over load of adrenaline, good job.
He's obviously got ideations.
Condolences to Klaatu 😔, but loved the "BOING" at the end, 👍🤣😨😱❕
RIP Klaatu! I remember when he got his first membership. My user name was Mr. Spock then. Of course we had fun with that.
Love the Pong placement on that Loram lol. RIP Klaatu
I love playing ‘’ here my train coming’ by jimi … the Berkeley version. Best country song ever
God Bless and comfort Klaatus family and friends.
Including the full switching move was a nice extra treat. If I was in one of the cars that saw that I would become involved.
It was, could have never left that gem out!
You know it's a good day instead of a boring school day when virtual railfan uploads ;-)
Thanks I love the video Blessings ❤️😧😀☺️
Love the Pong, guys. Keep 'em coming!
Great bag catch! The barcode my all time fav unit.
Wondered what it would look like on Earth when the sun expands billions of years from now. The gorgeous video at 30:25 is pretty close. The sky looked like it was on fire. Amazing
Had to laugh at the guy getting 'bopped' on the head by the bar as it happened to me too, but in a garage.
Anything for clicks
6:55 Oh come on. PONG!?!?!! 😂 That had to be added later by video editors. If so, they did a good job!
12:45 I hope that man gets the help he needs. And you’re right, no crew should have to go through that. 😮
I hope they have some type of cab video of that guy who forced the train into emergency. They could probably find him through the Flagstaff police department.
Just catching up on a missed grabbag and sorry to hear of Klaatus departure. Not many names I recognise but have seen many of his posts, and as a cancer survivor, its always sad when someone doesn't and is lost to it. Rest in peace big man, you where known around the world, in my case Scotland.
Well praise the lord you survived brother god bless you
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, especially the BNSF train in Flagstaff, Arizona, makes an emergency stop by a person, the CSXT1836 in Waycross, Georgia, the CSXT1713, also in Waycross, Georgia m, the railgrinder in Chehalis, Washington, the Herzog train in Fort Madison, Iowa, railroad crossing gate hits the man in the head in Deshler, Ohio, and so much more, I like them all, @Virtual Railfan, thank you very much.
The RF&P unit is their best one yet 👍
A friend mentioned these people operating trains stressed out by people who interrupt their shifts, right out of the blue that came from her. I said 'Thank you!' on behalf of people hardly mentioned, along side the countless other people such as car and truck drivers who have that happen and aren't recognized for their unplanned and unwarranted part in it.
I think it's high time, someone pays when it's possible to hold someone to account. Either those doing that to taunt other people if they live or whoever is responsible for the care of people in the case of that so-called "care" not actually helping but harming or ending lives while ruining the lives of those who're working or commuting.
I see people out this way on tracks and some are pedestrians on the wrong kinds of paths, pests or not looking with their full faculties, yelling profanities or screaming inaudible words.
Plus we get lots of full and empty shopping carts left very close, at times I estimate within feet to inches, I pull them away before anyone needs to know for sure how close they are left. Calling around for cart pickups proves useless, more end up there before any somehow disappear and then there's more. I have seen seven carts, plus the garbage that is dumped out. Why? I couldn't guess. Some day, pieces of that kind of wire cart or hard debris may enter a nearby home if not whole parts of a train with its operators.
And then there's people who cross stopped trains. First I saw of that, thankfully the last so far, a young teen maybe, I ran yelling to get her off it, but she was too quick. That train was moving, not where we were, but it was in action and our area of cars moved right after she got through.
I hope I get wide dissemination of this one message. Please share.
This video was outstanding it was great to see an Excellent Video to Start my Day
Thank you vR for another awesome video love watching these each and everyday
We had one of those cute little Trackmobile car haulers like they show at 0:42 at the company I retired from. It had rubber tires as well as the flanged wheels so we could spot it anywhere around the yard.

Thank you again VRF for another great Grab Bag! Nothing like sitting back with a glass of wine, headphones on, and hear them beautiful train engines, heaven! And the beautiful sunset with the music, wow, had to rewind that so hubby could hear it as he is playing guitar now. He loved it! 😍😍😍

Nice sunset ... RIP Mark .... Godspeed Brother!
Whos mark?
@@truck_dudeThe fella who passed that they mentioned at the end of the video.
That's another beautiful sunset ending to the video. I have always loved the way the setting sun turns the rails to gold. I would always love coming home from work on the train, and just where the track did a 'S' curve, the setting sun would leave a picture of strips of gold ahead of the train. On the other hand, the driver of the train has all my sympathy, having to drive into the sun, making seeing the signals almost impossible. It can be treacherous enough as it is in a car, as I know from sad experience.
hello Virtual Railfan & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Virtual Railfan Friends Randy
6:57 I can't wait for a Pong simulation on a passenger car window, made with cellphones... 🙂😉
any further information about that emergency stop? how soon afterwards did the train start moving?

Nothing like a welded rail train on Horseshoe Curve, and it was dropping rail, already bent.
Unfortunately that seems to happen in flagstaff alot. Like the guy taking one to the noggin That's learning the hard way. Beautiful sunset in LaPlata.
12:48 guy should be sited... not sure what but there must be a legal law or something he can be fined or arrested, both the conductor and engineer should have free therapist consulting too...
We only get access to therapy if we make contact. I guess it's better than nothing, but this scenario is very common. (Just ask the Brightline people)
Trespassing interfering with interstate commerce to name a couple
OK….even with all the rare, unusual, exciting things shown on this fantastic channel, the picking-up of the set-out Superliner car at Galesburg ( 4:00 ) has got to be one of the RAREST THINGS one would ever expect to see in real life! A seriously contender for “Rarest Catch” in the Grab-Bag, ever….even more rare than the BNSF “Golden Swoosh”! COOL STUFF! 🤩
Just think of the passengers that got a "once in a lifetime" view that few passengers have ever seen!
@@joepeach997 That’s a great point!! Lucky them!!
@joepeach997 I wonder how they did making up the approx 1/2 hour delay as result of the pick up?

Not hard to come by. You can usually get a used one for less than the cost of a new pickup truck. Search 'railcar movers for sale'
LOL, I got to drive? Control? one ounce, it was a blast to move such big things (Train cars full of fracking sand). If you ever see one in use, talk to the person running it. You never know.

Apparently the Amtrak Passenger Car on the Siding in Galesburg had a Broken Axle. It was apparently taken to Denver but then taken Back to Chicago. 🤔
That man should be arrested and charged to the max. The railroad doesn't have time for ignorance like that.

wow what a terrible thing for someone to do in Flagstaff. At first I thought maybe he was actually having thoughts of unaliving, but it actually looked like that wasn't the case and he was joking around or whatever.
Some people don't get is that trains (Passenger and Freight) can't stop on a dime therefore crashing into whatever is in it's road
40 seconds!
30:25, Ow!
I posted a comment on the channel before about a high school kid who sat on the tracks and let the train hit him. This person should be made to go and view those pictures then not allowed to clean themselves. BTW, there is a section that anyone trespassing on railroad property can receive a citation but in today’s world they probably would have dismissed the case but you have to catch him first.

I’m not sure if the police of Flagstaff will finding this man who playing chicken with the BNSF freight train. I may not be a law enforcement expert for the reaction and as the result of “play chicken” incident.
Either he or (a she), would get an extended fine or charged for interfering to railroad operation of private property.
They would may temporarily arrested until they can let it off with a stern warning.
Pretty sure some crew, would say oh well. We tried. Really can't feel sorry for people like that guy. In my opinion.
