Shame Cronulla didn't go on to win the comp they had the players but were pretty unlucky.

In 1978 & 1979, then 10 years later in 1988 & 1989, Cronulla should have won a premiership in any of those 4 years. Basically as you said, Cronulla were unlucky not to have won a premiership in the late 1970s & late 1980s. They deserved to win a premiership in that time. They had great players in that period, but couldn't quite get it together in the finals.

@@kurtflahavin5994 Yeah the 78 replay was disappointing. To have a game 2 days after the big one and lose their big guns was a farce. These days they can't wait to see a game in extra time/ golden point blah blah blah. Yes by all means we should have 2-3 comps there. Anyway past is the past we can only rely on the team we get to qualify maybe in a few years we can get another crack.
