I met Alan Parsons and his team having lunch at an Italian restaurant in the 1990s. So, I sat at a table near theirs and, pretending to read the menu, I started quietly singing: “If you believe in the power of magic I can change your mind And if you need to believe in someone Turn and look behind.” After the third attempt at humming to get his attention, he turned to me and sang the last verse: “Turn and look behind.” Then Alan Parsons continued: “Would you like to join us? You can sit here next to me.” As a bonus, I even got Alan Parsons’ autograph on my shirt. Alan Parsons is the most humble musician in the entire music universe.
Remember this like when it was first aired and the radio presenter this was apeice put together by a group of studio musicians who called themselves Alan Parsons Project but that couldn't be 40 years ago could it,oh my god that is ridiculous it sounds just as brilliant just simply gifted!!!
I'm a metal guy and i love this song. I remember this video so vividly on Mtv back in the 80's. You remember, when Mtv actually played music because the "M" stood for music back then.
Il y a quelques jours j'ai pris un taxi et il y avait cette magnifique chanson ❤, j'ai fermé les yeux et j'ai basculé dans le passé avec les merveilleux souvenirs 😢
Shout out to Alan Parsons Project. It was just two days after the Pulse shooting in Orlando when I witnessed something incredible. It was them playing outside behind a bar in the parking lot facing a public street. Apparently the owner of this bar had ties to them and they must have dropped whatever they were doing that day to show up in Orlando as a tribute for Pulse. There was no fanfare and maybe fewer than 300 people even knew they were ever there. I was pinching myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Coincidently coming across one of my favorite bands of the 70's just a few feet away and in front of a handful of people! It was uplifting indeed. What a very special thing they did that day, trying to do their part for a town that was in shock.
Alan has always been a classy guy and he is certainly a very talented musician. It is great to hear of stories like yours about famous people who do good in this world without any fanfare!
I was in my teens when this was released. I am now a "50 something" teacher and proud Mum of a pre-teen. I still love this. The ultimate love song. Fantastic orchestration. Despair in that voice. The perfect song for me. ❤
Interesting definition of a love song. He's telling her she's being stubborn. And teasing her don't dare let her guard down that they might talk and come together. But if it works for you why argue with success.
The Alan Parsons Project is one of two legendary bands that still are on my bucket list. Here's hoping some day to remedy that. Hands down, the most incredibly talented group to have ever performed in the 20th century.
In the Age of 20 in Dezember 1980 I heard this Song at the First time. I was pregnant with my 2. Son. Today he is a great Fan of Alan Parsons and spezialy of this song ❤
Quote from the APP website ( FAQ ) : " Eric Woolfson was the main songwriter and lyricist for the APP writing 95% of the music and 100% of the lyrics. He also sang lead vocal on many of the APP’s greatest hits including ‘Eye in the Sky’, ‘Time’ and ‘Don’t Answer Me’. He played keyboards on practically every APP track recorded. He was also the manager of the APP and handled all the business side. It was his decision to call it ‘The Alan Parsons Project’ - a choice he often described as both the best and worst in his career. The best because he got to enjoy the success of his work without any of the fame. The worst in that generally no one outside the music industry had a clue who he was! "
Sitting in our living room, sweltering in California and my 100 year old mother- in-law is just loving this song and loving this man. She's never lost it....just love this and so happy to share it with her.
Je suis fan de la première heure et je resterai à NANTES pour l'écouter en boucle ALL NIGHT and DAYS MERCI BEAUCOUP POUR TON MESSAGE MUSICAL D'AMOUR À LA FÊTE DES MAMIES .
When I need to listen to something beautiful that calms my mind and soul, Alan Parsons is where I go. All I need. Love Alan Parsons Project and everything they have ever done. This one…. breaks my heart.
My father(middle 80 years young) and me were on a private Concert in Berlin few years ago. It was simple fantastic. My Dad was flashed and grateful and so am I. Thank you, Mr. Parsons, for your everlasting music
It is inconceivable to know that these guys did not do any live concerts in the 80s since acoustic technology was not ready for their concept and their music RIP Eric Woolfson
Best concert I've ever been. Absolutelly brilliant, a life-goal achievement. This concert was in Medellín, Colombia. The best of all is that it was FOR FREE!
Hola Juanca...me encontraba por esos dias fuera del pais...mi hermano me comentó de la convocatoria para esta recital...creo que fue en el parque de las luces? Saludos desde Bogotá
This is actually quite emotional for me. After so many years of listening to this song (since it came out), this is my first time seeing these guys in a live performance. It’s hard to describe the feeling.
Tonight me and my girlfriend were in the Goodwill store in Southern Indiana at 6:30 on a Sunday night and it was snowing that song came to my voice when we came home tonight I pulled it up and I probably haven't heard this song in 30 years I don't know why it came to my voice but it did and I started reviewing some of these songs from the past when I was in high school in Clarksville Indiana what a fun evening
Minha adolescência, amores que tocaram meu coracao de cristal, quem amei ja nao esta entre nós, ainda bem que temos musica pra relembrar nossas histórias, só nosso coracao sabe a dor e o amor , a saudade e as lembranças ❤
Alan Parsons and Jeff Lynne were two of my favorite British composers who got me through 4 years of college. I got to see ELO but never got to see the Alan Parsons Project.
Wow! Can’t believe Alan Parsons will be 70 this year! Amazing how he is still so much like he was when APP started. All that creativity has kept him young!
age has got nothing to do with true talent, just cruel that people still think you are going to look the same 50 years later,l what do you want? Talent or looks
