    New York City Revealed: World Trade Center

    The opening statement of the lady who lost her sister is so very true. I had no desire to go down to that area and would only go if I absolutely have to. Now I work in the old financial center across the street and it’s such an eerie feeling. The area is so beautiful but it just doesn’t feel right to have all the tourist walking around snapping pics. It’s weird

      The towers will never return exactly the way they were, and I think that's a good thing, even if they could build them back the same, why would anyone want to see them again after what happened to the originals, I think it would be almost scary to see them again in real life, you can see them all day long in photos if you want to, the other problem would be finding the same materials they used to build the towers, a lot of those materials are not made anymore.

    i think about 9/11 nearly every day in some way.. i feel like that was the day that my whole universe was flipped and it hasn't flipped back ever since.
    i've actually been in the towers and went up to the rooftop observation deck. i was only 13 at the time, but i've always been fascinated by supertall skyscrapers from a very young age and that was where i wanted to go, when i was on a family NYC trip in 1997.
    this may sound overly dramatic, but i think a part of me, my innocence, and my bright outlook for the future died when i saw the towers fall on TV that day.

    • @user-wh2ei8qm6s
      @user-wh2ei8qm6s หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It was a big metaphorical and tangible impact. The towers were the most eye-catching buildings in existence. Then 9/11 happens and they get imprinted in your mind even harder. Then half of New York wants to rebuild them, and what happens? A corrupt friendship between Pataki (governor of NY at the time) and the architect of the new 1 WTC causes them not to rebuild. So corruption causes us to waste trillions on a war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and corruption allows the terrorists to alter our skyline forever. Very understandable to feel like innocence and hope has died.

    I really like the Freedom Tower, for the most part, and the way it was constructed/engineered internally is brilliant. I do wish they would have built two of them and offset them in the same diagonal fashion as the original towers, though I definitely understand that they lacked the space needed, being that they needed so much room for the reflective pools where the original towers had once stood. I just wish there would have been a way to have the reflective pools where they are and still build two identical "twin" Freedom Towers.

    • @jus10lewissr
      @jus10lewissr หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      A part of the video got me thinking:
      20:22 When they reconstructed the site in the late 2000s, they added streets back that hadn't been there since the late sixties/early seventies. The site of the twin towers ultimately caused them to complete delete one or two of the existing streets at the time for extra space. Looking at the image shown, they could have technically built a new twin set of towers on that site, staggered over a bit so as not to impose on the area the original towers had been. I get why no one wanted to give up the spots where they built the other towers in the complex, but they surely could have figured out a way to construct "twin" towers and still allow room for other buildings and the reflective pools. The World Trade Center complex as a whole is pretty large altogether, and I'm grateful for the Freedom Tower, but it's still disappointing that they didn't build two of them.

    • @jus10lewissr
      @jus10lewissr หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Especially considering the fact that they haven't even found enough tenants yet for the final tower that they've yet to build. Being that there isn't enough tenants to fill up seven buildings, finding the space to create two twin towers wouldn't have been difficult.

    • @Thefox0922
      @Thefox0922 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know your gonna completely ignore this but
      Building 3-6 where crushed from the falling debris
      Building seven had severe damage from debris smashing into the side of it and uncontrollable fires
      The church was hit by falling debris crushing it
      The steel *trusses* did not melt but instead weakened and deformed which caused it to pull the perimeter columns inwards so it could no longer support the weight above
      Hope that clears some stuff up

    Hey Larry Silverstein, we know you demolished the trade center on purpose, we know about how there was thermite planted in the elevator shaft, we know that the specific floors that got hit by the towers were being renovated with a very explosive and flammable paint, we know that you mentioned how there's so much unused room that it deemed the building useless, we know you demolished it because it couldn't be wired for the Internet, even though it could, just look at the sears tower. The building was built to sustain multiple large aircraft crashes. Also after the plane hit, why did it randomly start falling apart? The bottom half of the building could withstand the top half of the building, even if it fell off, it couldn't have destroyed all of the bottom half, every force has an equal and opposite reaction.

    One World Trade Center is built really well! I always felt they should build another one with an open observation deck on the roof like the original WTC 2 had. What can be more beautiful than two of them? The design is already in front of them with all the same safety features like the re-enforced core to allow for better evacuation, and blast proof pedestal , and in my opinion is the best looking design compared to what is being presented (please whatever you do please don't build the stacked box design🤮)! Having twins again would show resilience. Freedom (west tower), and Resilience (east tower) ??? As long as it's ok with the family's of those we lost that day. Imagine seeing two identical towers down town again. 9/11 was not the result of building too big. It was the result of non existent airport security. If we had the security measures we have today that tragedy would have never happened. The terrorist hated the way we live, and wanted to change that forever. We should never let them win. RIP to all the victims, and their family's.
