CaptainSparkles is a great guy, but I kinda feel disrespected by the statement of the wildfires being one of the most damaging events in U.S. history. I went through Hurricanes Lee, Debby, Isaac, Barry, Marco, Laura, Zeta, IDA, Beryl, and Francine. Lee, Debby, Isaac, Marco, Zeta, ESPECIALLY IDA, all caused my family to push themselves thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars in debt. I live in the Greater New Orleans Area, specifically from the West Bank. We as a state were still recovering from Hurricane Katrina, when Hurricane Ida flooded over 25,000 properties, dealt severe roof damage to over 90,000 properties, and overall dealt damage to roughly 300,000 properties. This caused over $193 Billion in reconstruction costs, many of which are STILL being paid by both homeowners, and trade companies (eg: roofing, plumbing, construction, etc.) New problems caused by Hurricane Ida are being found every day. This is not to mention water plants being shut down, and damaged; this causing both more carcinogens in our drinking water, along with homes being without water for weeks, even months. None of this is to take away from the damage done by the Los Angeles wildfires, simply to bring awareness to a statement that could upset others that have gone through similar troubles. P.S. The people that complain and get offended about every little thing can go ahead and get their reply and dislike in, you will be paid no mind. I'm here to bring awareness to a statement that holds genuine meaning. CaptainSparkles is an amazing person, whom I hold utmost respect for. People make mistakes, we're human. To those suffering from the Los Angeles wildfires, you have my sincerest condolences. I wish you well, and I wish the state of California a recovery, and increase in air quality.

So glad to hear y'all are okay; saw that tweet about the tree and I swear my heart was in my throat. My family had to evacuate the Thomas Fire back in 2017 b/c the flames got to just a few miles up the road from us, but we got super lucky too when the winds ultimately blew it the other direction. Only thing I will say -- and this is coming from someone who's Chumash (socal Native) -- if those of us from southern California tribes were still allowed to practice seasonal controlled burns, then maybe things wouldn't have gotten a bad?? Unfortunately this was outlawed way back in the 1800s, but you're absolutely right; sometimes Hutash (Mother Earth) is just gonna do her thing, though I still wish that, under indigenous supervision, we could've cleared out some of that brush ahead of time. You can never predict these sorts of tragedies; you can just only hope that we can do better to try and prevent the worst of them. All the love and support to those who were affected (including friends of mine/friends of the family), and endless thanks and respect to all the firefighters and first responders.
Glad you're all safe, mother nature has a way of humbling everyone that's for sure. I hope the clean up and reconstruction for those impacted goes well, I can't imagine the pain of losing everything like they have.

Take some time and rest, do things that you find relaxing and don't worry so much about entertaining us, we'll be waiting when you want to post or stream.
So glad you guys are okay. I can’t imagine what a wildfire of any scale would be like in my neighborhood. politicizing something is useful when there's something you can change; you brushed off the idea that there was anything we could do to have prevented this, but that completely ignores man-made climate change, climate disaster, the main contributors, and the things our leaders literally COULD DO to mitigate these tragedies! Climate activists and green party have literally been screaming about the solutions to these imminent issues for decades! All of this is inherently political and its crazy how you can have such a close brush with this nightmare and not come out the other side galvanized into a more nuanced position on all of this! I lost my house to a massive fire in 2018 and the experience forever shifted my view of the world and our responsibility we have to eachother V glad you and your fam are safe

As A southern Californian myself, I can safely say that we need some change. That doesn't mean Californians have to vote for a different party, I just hope we vote for people who are more competent, regardless of political party
Honestly ya’ll are gonna have to do more than just vote your problems away! I grew up in southern Cali (specifically San Diego) and I watched as that part of the state slowly yet surely go to hell from 1999 until 2015. All those Californian exodus movements happened for a reason. And all these problems cannot be fixed with electing new politicians.
I mean for crying out loud! I went through 2 different wildfires in the 14 years that I had lived there! Even back then (2003 and 2007) the fire depots could not do squat!
I agree with you that better preparations could be made, but the weather conditions were the absolute worst case scenario for wildfires to be managed. Dryest start to a rain season in recorded history, combined with low humidity and of course the winds, this fire was nearly impossible to control at first. In essence, climate change is by far the biggest factor in why the fires were as horrible as they were, and, imo, nothing much could have been done to stop the fires regardless of who’s in charge.
It's a slow progress, but it's really good seeing the containment percentages rising steadily. Hopefully this disaster is over soon...Even if there will still be struggle for so many people to rebuild and fight the trauma, it will be so much better once the raging fires are finally out. And hopefully they don't come back too soon... So glad you're okay
It’s rough times these days. Our East coast was devastated by an inland running hurricane that still to this day has issues about. And the west coast is on fire.
@ I’ve been trying to figure out that myself. We still have people without homes and access to much of anything useful deep in the mountains due to this past hurricane. Bridges and roads still gone, access to towns obliterated.

In case you're not aware Jordan, the California government does have government home insurance which you can apply for if you have been denied by two separate insurance companies to my understanding. I am not an American so this could be an entirely false understanding of the situation, but I do know for a fact that the California government does have some kind of homeowners insurance policy as a last resort for people that live in California

Seeing a man I've watched grow and build a life and home and find great hobbies be affected so closely by climate change is...... a truly devastating feeling.
We went through this with the CZU fire in Northern CA a few years ago. The fire stopped a mere quarter mile from the house. It's been 5 years, and a huge number of homes still haven't been rebuilt.
So glad you’re safe. Been watching since 2011 and I’m glad you’re doing alright. 14:20 well honestly the fire danger shouldn’t be what it was for the coming years… assuming i understand the scale of the disaster- everything has been reset. The biggest issue was that dead brush had accumulated year after year after year. Now that it’s all burned away they would just need to make sure the brush that dies out every summer gets cleared. But hopefully with that in mind the state does some things different and the insurance companies have some more faith in the condition of the state so to keep there rates reasonable 16:50 for what y’all pay for housing over there they might as well be concrete and steel. Wood prices are expensive as it is. 17:42 there are already talks from the governor of the land being completely bought up by the state.
That's the thing that bothers me just a tad when Jordan said that this was essentially unavoidable (something like "there's some things no one can control") and tried to make it seem like politics had nothing to do with it - politics are why the indigenous in the area weren't allowed to do controlled burns, politics is a HUGE chunk of why climate change disasters are on the rise, politics are why disaster relief is limited to $770 a person... I appreciate wanting to stay away from politics as a topic, but saying politics aren't a factor is just incorrect.
So far the only content creator I've seen who has lost his home was Kyle Hansen of the PC hardware and tech channel Bitwit. Him, his partner, their cats, and their car are ok, and he has a studio (that he can't live in) but everything else is gone, he's homeless.

SC dude here. I've gone through multiple Cat 1 and one or two Cat 2 hurricanes. Yeah.. winds are scary. Even at 50-60. Gusts aren't too bad. But when the wind is completely constant at that speed? Not fun
Stay safe, man. We have another extreme fire weather warning tomorrow, winds gusting up to 100 mph in some places and humidity as low as 3%. It looks very similar to the first big wind event this year.
The reality with hurricanes, as terrifying as they are, is that they’re also predictable. Mostly. Sure, sometimes they make turns that you don’t predict, but you know they’re probably coming *days* away. With fires or floods or tornadoes, you just don’t know whether they’re coming or not, or if they’re gonna suddenly take a 180 and come your direction.
You should use this time to make sure you have all your valuable document/memento (picture album, birth certificate, etc) into an easily transportable or fireproof box just in case. Make sure you have backed up important data (old videos, photo, etc) or store your data off site. Also prepare and "go bag" and plan where you will be going in an emergency.
i'm glad you guys made the decision to leave when you did. even though nothing terrible happened and you got lucky it very easily could have gone differently. hoping that things start taking a positive turn over there
Yea the most we've stayed in my area was for a category 2 hurricane. It gets a little scary when the winds whistle with the roof in a dense neighborhood. Any more than that and we voluntarily evacuate. Its been a while since my area has been hit with anything bigger than a cat 2 as a direct hit. Its hard to imagine when its a fire involved.
It's a lot to think about, true. But thanks for taking the time to keep your followers informed. I am relieved to know the Captain and Kara are ok and your snakey pets are too.
I live in Australia and the place I live has fires and floods pretty regularly. We pay a fire or flood levy on rates which I think you call property tax, depending on how close we are to bush or river. So our insurance isn’t crazy.

Glad you all made it out prayers for all the ones in LA that were deeply affected by all this!!
Just glad to know you're okay and doing good, cap' - nobody should have had to deal with that nightmare, what a wild fortnight you've all had!
Southeast US person here. Get hit with a hurricane every year on average for the past 7 years or so. Honestly, I'm just so freaking used to it I barely even care. Shutters go up, food, water, bring the grill to the garage, trash cans down, then just chill out.
❤️ Glad you guys are safe and quick thinking of trying to prevent any other fires from starting. High winds is one of my fears and can only imagine the sound of them and seeing those flames.
Much love… glad you’re ok.. Prayers out to everybody
So glad yall were okay, your house is okay, and everything for yall is good. I can't believe how much damage the fires have done. Prayers for yall and the rest of everyone that has been in or effected by the fires
I’m glad you’re okay man!! Keep doing what you’re doing.
Bless your heart. I'm glad to know you guys are okay. Hope your family are doing okay as well.
Glad you're all safe, mother nature has a way of humbling everyone that's for sure. I hope the clean up and reconstruction for those impacted goes well, I can't imagine the pain of losing everything like they have.
I'm glad you're all okay. Watching the letsplays uploaded in advance of and shortly after the fires has been harrowing enough. My heart goes out to the victims and to the brave firefighters and first responders.
Sorry to hear about the family member who lost a house. Even if you didn't, it's okay to be upset that you and Kara and the snakes had to go through something that traumatic (even if you can't directly blame any one thing). I've never personally been affected by any natural disaster, so I can't imagine how scary it is to have to consider what to do and face your home being so deeply marred by a disaster.
Take some time and rest, do things that you find relaxing and don't worry so much about entertaining us, we'll be waiting when you want to post or stream.
childhood legend right here! glad your alright!
love from chicago ❣️ i’m sorry you experienced this and i’m very glad to hear you’re safe.
So glad you and Kara are all good. Super unfortunate that insurance will probably screw everyone over now
Sending prayers from Los Santos
So glad you guys are okay. I can’t imagine what a wildfire of any scale would be like in my neighborhood. About your question on dealing with hurricane winds, we mainly just stay inside with books or board games while the storm passes. Just kinda wait out any storm under cat 3 like a long tornado watch
politicizing something is useful when there's something you can change; you brushed off the idea that there was anything we could do to have prevented this, but that completely ignores man-made climate change, climate disaster, the main contributors, and the things our leaders literally COULD DO to mitigate these tragedies! Climate activists and green party have literally been screaming about the solutions to these imminent issues for decades! All of this is inherently political and its crazy how you can have such a close brush with this nightmare and not come out the other side galvanized into a more nuanced position on all of this! I lost my house to a massive fire in 2018 and the experience forever shifted my view of the world and our responsibility we have to eachother
V glad you and your fam are safe
I live in LA county but far enough away that my city is support, but not in danger. That said being so close to LA and having been born there, LA is so central to my identity and it’s heartbreaking to watch what’s happening. Not to mention knowing people who have had to leave and lost their homes.
I’m so glad you guys got out safe and lucky, I’ve been keeping an eye on yours and Kara’s Twitter. Stay safe, I know I and many others will always be here to support you guys.
We’re all happy that you’re safe jardon!
It's nice that Jardon has compassion and empathy
yeah from what i can tell, he genuinely is a good person
As A southern Californian myself, I can safely say that we need some change. That doesn't mean Californians have to vote for a different party, I just hope we vote for people who are more competent, regardless of political party
huh
But changing political parties would definitely be the best way to fix it.
In essence, climate change is by far the biggest factor in why the fires were as horrible as they were, and, imo, nothing much could have been done to stop the fires regardless of who’s in charge.
man all this chaos is pretty rough humanity is being stretched to its limits luckily we deal with this at our peak and i hope we get through
I like to think the person with a chainsaw was markiplier
It's a slow progress, but it's really good seeing the containment percentages rising steadily. Hopefully this disaster is over soon...Even if there will still be struggle for so many people to rebuild and fight the trauma, it will be so much better once the raging fires are finally out. And hopefully they don't come back too soon...
So glad you're okay
It’s rough times these days. Our East coast was devastated by an inland running hurricane that still to this day has issues about. And the west coast is on fire.
Yea, the weird part is the west coast gets so much more aid so much faster than the east coast.
@ I’ve been trying to figure out that myself. We still have people without homes and access to much of anything useful deep in the mountains due to this past hurricane. Bridges and roads still gone, access to towns obliterated.
@@MegaLokopofor this particular disaster I think that’s just a case of LA being such a massive population center compared to some of the areas hit by Helene that the resources needed are more readily available
@ It is political bias, look at how Biden reacted to both situations.
I’m from California and I’m fortunate enough to not have been at risk of my home burning or losing power, but I know people who lost power or their home and I hope everyone who was affected is ok and able to recover from the disaster.
Stay safe people
Really glad you and Kara are doing okay! Sad to hear that one close family member wasn't that lucky! Wish you and kara all the strength to get through this!
Hope you safe captin wishing everyone in LA well ❤
In case you're not aware Jordan, the California government does have government home insurance which you can apply for if you have been denied by two separate insurance companies to my understanding. I am not an American so this could be an entirely false understanding of the situation, but I do know for a fact that the California government does have some kind of homeowners insurance policy as a last resort for people that live in California
'how you guys who deal with hurricanes deal with the wind' yeah... we sleep XD we live roughly 1.5hours from where milton ran across florida so we road out the storm, i heard the wind and such but i just chilled until the power went out around 11:30pm so i went to bed, when i woke up it was over XD
the biggest thing the wind does is you can actually find trees/forests that grow diagonally because they get hit with high winds so often. so glad to hear yall are ok :3 everyone stay safe out there
Seeing a man I've watched grow and build a life and home and find great hobbies be affected so closely by climate change is...... a truly devastating feeling.
We went through this with the CZU fire in Northern CA a few years ago. The fire stopped a mere quarter mile from the house. It's been 5 years, and a huge number of homes still haven't been rebuilt.
Very glad you’re doing ok Cap… love from WV
I'm glad you and Kara (and the cars) are all good!
I’m really happy that you and your family lucked out. Godspeed as you move on from here, Captain
So glad to hear Jordan is ok 🙏
glad that you guys are okay :(( sending love to u guys and everyone affected
I'm glad you two are alright.🙏
I’m glad you’re safe and your house is also safe!
Protect yourself, Los Angeles!
But hopefully with that in mind the state does some things different and the insurance companies have some more faith in the condition of the state so to keep there rates reasonable
16:50 for what y’all pay for housing over there they might as well be concrete and steel.
Glad you are safe captain
So far the only content creator I've seen who has lost his home was Kyle Hansen of the PC hardware and tech channel Bitwit. Him, his partner, their cats, and their car are ok, and he has a studio (that he can't live in) but everything else is gone, he's homeless.
for me the crazy thing is how much you waited before evacuating... I would panic even at a glimpse of a wildfire comming my way, remember life and health are the most valuable things we have, also I can't imagine someone so legendary as you being lost due to some wildfire... crazy to think, anyways, hope everything gets better there. Best wishes from Poland
Everyone being respectful about this but when Australia was burning, all i saw was
"We didn't start the fire
It was always burning, since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No, we didn't light it, but we tried to fight it"
You need some better friends then bc I didn’t see any of that
@@melovekittie all over youtube comment sections actually. Was on those news videos
@@Stickflood oh, youtube comment sections on news channels are ALWAYS the opposite of supportive sadly. Hurricane? Womp womp. Fires? Biden caused it (somehow). Cute puppy saves owner? Wow, that owner doesnt know how to treat their dog.
I saw quite a bit of this when it was happening at the time. I do think (or I'd like to think) people have become a bit more mindful about these things since covid and there's been a shift towards being there for people rather trying to divide ourselves from other countries since it was a world pandemic. That's just my two cents but idk at the same time.
~a local Kiwi across the ditch 🇳🇿
I've seen people being very condescending towards the victims of the LA fires, just not in this comment section thankfully
Glad you're okay, Cap!
Glad your safe
*you're
im so glad you and kara and the pet are safe
Good things happen to good people... Glad you're okay. Thoughts to those who are struggling ❤
I just watched the penguinz0 video about the changes to the Chick-fil-A fries and though the title of this video was "fries" and not "fires"
SC dude here. I've gone through multiple Cat 1 and one or two Cat 2 hurricanes. Yeah.. winds are scary. Even at 50-60. Gusts aren't too bad. But when the wind is completely constant at that speed? Not fun
Prayers from San Andreas🙏
Stay safe, man. We have another extreme fire weather warning tomorrow, winds gusting up to 100 mph in some places and humidity as low as 3%. It looks very similar to the first big wind event this year.
The reality with hurricanes, as terrifying as they are, is that they’re also predictable. Mostly.
Sure, sometimes they make turns that you don’t predict, but you know they’re probably coming *days* away.
With fires or floods or tornadoes, you just don’t know whether they’re coming or not, or if they’re gonna suddenly take a 180 and come your direction.
Wishing you and your family the best.
You should use this time to make sure you have all your valuable document/memento (picture album, birth certificate, etc) into an easily transportable or fireproof box just in case. Make sure you have backed up important data (old videos, photo, etc) or store your data off site. Also prepare and "go bag" and plan where you will be going in an emergency.
as someone who forgot for how long ive been following you im happy that you are safe
i'm glad you guys made the decision to leave when you did. even though nothing terrible happened and you got lucky it very easily could have gone differently. hoping that things start taking a positive turn over there
So glad you guys are safe
Glad you're safe Jordan. scary stuff!
So scary!!! Very happy that you guys were able to get out!!! ❤❤❤
Stay safe out there, Cap. God bless
These fires are terrifying, i hope as many people as possible make it to saftey
So glad you and Kara are ok. Stay safe everyone ❤
I'm so glad you are okay!
Dude, West virginia has gotten the exact opposite thing we've been getting snow and blizards
I live in Australia and the place I live has fires and floods pretty regularly. We pay a fire or flood levy on rates which I think you call property tax, depending on how close we are to bush or river. So our insurance isn’t crazy.
Glad to hear you are okay mate, stay safe bro 🤛
4:15 God is great
Least obvious rage bait
it's going to take years for LA to rebuild but they are going to do it. stay strong !
