    This dance is similar to Venda dance called Malende, but its a high energy dance, drums sond similar

    • @normanmdzimiri1773
      @normanmdzimiri1773  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh OK thank you for the information. Can you pliz tell me more about the dance as to why the Venda perform Malende? On what occasions is the dance normally performed? What time of the day do they do the performance? How is it done and how do they prepare for it. Is it a ritual dance or it is a social dance. How many drums do they use? Can you describe their full attire and it's colors. Do the colors have any meaning or any interpretations. Are there and does and don'ts, in other words are there any rules to be followed during the performance? Lastly is the dance performed by the Venda people in Zimbabwe or in South Africa? Kindly give me a specific location.
      Thank you very much for the information.
      NB: feel free to add as much information as possible about the dance. It is only for educational purposes, marketing your culture to let other people know about it and nothing more. Please send the information to the email below.

      @@crzyrdr am a Karanga, the dance isle was performed during spiritual initiation called “Bira”. Everything from the dance, the dressing attire, head gear, plus the tsvimbo, also they performed or dance holding little axes called “Karuka” with the horn blowing!! Very amazing. At our home stead my father used to hold the bira 5 or 6 times a year! I was very young but I remember it very well.

    Now this is the hosanna I know, not this modern one this youngsters are doing

    • @normanmdzimiri1773
      @normanmdzimiri1773  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Brandon,this is the version of Hosana that is performed in the Bakalanga villages considered by the Bakalanga community to be aunthentic. This is performed when they are having their rituals asking for rhe rain. The youngsters have combined Hosana with other contemporary dances mainly for entertainment and not for ritual purposes hence the differences you have noted. My main purpose however was not to compare the two versions but to see how choreographers of dance groups have managed to marry contemporary dances with traditional ones. That fusion is a skill that is worth noting. Also i wanted to bring your attention to the issue of how modernity has infiltrated our traditional dances and to what extent. Do you see a sustainable future of Hosana amid crisis of modernity and christianity as forces that are influencing Bakalanga culture?
