I feel like this version was cast for talent/ability first and characterization second, while the version with Tim Minchin and Ben Forster(?) was cast for characterization first and talent/ability second. Having watched them both, I used to gripe about the autotune in the Minchin/Forster version but I really prefer it over John Legend being John Legend and this guy being this guy. I feel the characters were played better than just "good at singing" guys being good at singing.
-Celebrity in a major role that can’t act to save their life -Lead doing a weird mix of speaking the lyrics and over complicated singing -Ensemble who overact and behave like they are the main character -Audience who scream and cheer at every little thing Yep, definitely an American musical!
Yes, he killed it. It was unfortunate that Jon's voice clearly was shot by the lives as he fought through laryngitis by the end. But the show DID go on. (I bet Jon regrets that thinking back, wishing he could do it again with full and strong voice). As a singer, I get it all too well. You can't control it sometimes and you lose it at the worst times.
Unnecessary:... Nothing will ever compare to the original score and the movie score which will forever be my favorite. I simply dislike this version and wish I never saw it and wish it didn't exist at all.. It's a Detroit version. No thanks okay enough was trying to turn everything overly black-ish
Tim has changed quite a bit since the last time i saw him ;-)
I think it’s just that he’s wearing a vest now
Nah Carl Anderson hit the gym and had a haircut
Simply marvelous!!! Love this rendition of the song.
Tim Minchin looks different
Tim got a hell of tan.
I loved this version ❤❤
Bravo, Victor Dixon 👏👏👏
Beautiful Jesus
Heaven on their minds...Amen...Revelation 21...Hosanna.. the rocks and stones will start to sing... Amen...
Carl Anderson
Even if they got the name wrong, this is one of my favorite performances of Heaven on Their Minds. Criminally underrated!
Check out Jodie steel’s version it’ll blow you away!
This was God awful
This is an amazing version ❤
Nothing compares to the movie score.
I heart Judus!
Brandon Victor Dixon, not Tim Minchin...
You have to admit, they look very alike
He was just incredible as Judas
to be fair they do look alike
Stole the show! 💫
Dude…. (Judging from the description, you probably uploaded the wrong clip)

Can anyone tell me more information, what his name is, what performance was this?
Brandon Victor Dixon in Jesus Christ superstar live
@@theblackcat2792 thank you
A very good performance, but not Tim Minchin. Hasn't this happened before with another clip?!

He should have been Jesus instead of Judas. Sang much better then John Legend!! Alice Cooper as Herod was awesome ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Какие охрененные калиброванные красавцы!
Is that John legend in the clip
Yes, but he wasn't singing. 🤔😉
Can you put this correct. This is the 2nd time it was done. This is NOT Tim.
Como encuentro el vídeo
Marry me baby❤❤❤😂
Not a patch on Jon English or Jon Stevens in the Australian productions
Tim Minchin does blackface??!?!?
Btw he is the BEST Judas
Did he get a haircut? 0_o
Well I guess we know that nobodies monitoring the comments on this channel
I am sorry, good singer, but Karl Anderson was THE GUY
He's hot
Like it's solid but the never somebody John could outsing
Least favourite version personally, vocals were really lacking. Nothing and Nothing could top the Arena Tour with Minchin and Forster
Except Carl Anderson
Seriously? Love Minchins version. But Ted Neely and Steve Balsamo have Forester beat as Jesus. And nothing beats Carl Anderson as Judas.
Yeah. This is a mess. It's not the right melodies/rhythms and all the changes are for the worse.
Drew sarich does a great judas.
Legend wasn't on his game for Gethsemane. Sorry.

No thanks okay enough was trying to turn everything overly black-ish
This was horrible
Not Tim though
Just doesn't work with legend
Absolutely mid performance
Tim?
NEANCHE LONTANAMENTE
Judas is black? 😮 you’re serious?
Carl Anderson played Judas in the 1973 movie, you twit. Also, Jesus ans Judas would have been middle eastern in real life. You twit.
Why?
He was in the original too
I mean he wasn't white in the Bible, so makes sense.
