A Lot of Variable determine how far the Crews make it. Unforeseen Breakdowns of Other Trains, Emergency MOW Work, Crew Shortages, etc., ALL play a part. 🤔👍
About a month ago some motorists really screwed things up on the CPKC Chicago to Twin Cities Main by driving around the gates and colliding with the Amtrak Borealis. It never fails this is on a single track section and probably tied up at least four trains and if someone runs low on time it's a moderate drive to get them there. Last year had one in Milwaukee where an oil train struck an auto. They deemed the lead locomotive okay to keep on going not too messed up but if it was lack of time or a post accident drug test the following freight train was added to it which made for a double megatrain. Since the passenger trains are Amtrak with their Crews and we have no through Freights originating or terminating here it's just a handful of employees to cover a couple switch jobs and two locals. Quite a change from the years gone by

I've been seeing a lot of 6 axle engines lately, what's up with that?
I think most railroads are using their 4 axle locomotives for locals and yard switching.
One day we only went ten miles an sat till we outlawed an a new crew took over
@@kenrosser8160 a very productive day 😂
@@kenrosser8160 like today NS 30N is broke down in Delphi holding up traffic since 7:30 this morning and it’s now noon.
I've spent entire shifts in the cab without turning a wheel.
I know guys sit in sidings for 8 hours and only go 100 miles until they hog law.
@@miniaturefarmer464 sometimes they don’t even leave the yard. 😆
@@therailroadtiespiker I heard that also.
