Let's do something different and STOP going into debt for the holidays! Prepare for Christmas 2025 NOW! How are you planning to save for Christmas 2025?

I have already planned 75% of my gift knitting for 2025 and pulled most of the yarn from my yarn stash. Does that count?

We started saving this past year however, for 2025 we will save $120 each paycheck. We are paid biweekly.

We stopped doing gifts in my family because it got too stressful. Now we focus on gathering and bring together. We make and share food. No one goes into debt for a holiday. We focus on the reason for the season. It’s wonderful! I understand that some folks love giving but this works for us.

I plan on saving only $400 for Christmas. My main goal this year is to pay down debt and save money on my challenges

I have been doing this for years. It’s so freeing to spend for Christmas and not worrying about it.

This is great! Let’s be proactive instead of reactive. I spent all the holiday money I had saved up for the 2024 holiday season with no regrets because no new debts 🙌🏾. For 2025 I will be picking only a few events to celebrate with gift giving. Other celebrations will be via free to low cost experiences.

I plan on shopping throughout the year for gifts instead of waiting until the holiday or setting aside an amount every month for Christmas and my son's birthday and mine (my son's birthday is in November and mine is in December).

I literally just put this in my budget for 2025. I love the holiday season… decorating, gatherings and giving to others. My budget was also $1500. This will reduce a lot of that end of the year spending stress.

I started a savings account for Christmas over 10 plus years ago and it’s the best thing I ever did. I set up automatic savings account label Christmas and I put money in the account monthly and it’s automatically transferred to my savings accounts the first of November and then it’s continuously keep saving I don’t have to do anything except move the funds to my checking account. It works for me and sometimes I don’t spend the full amount so I transfer any extra back to my savings account. Love it ❤❤

This was good because, although you felt like you were all over the place, for me it shows the different things I should include when I'm trying to come up with a Christmas budget. I've never done it before for this very reason. Choosing some arbritrary amount never motivated me to keep up with following it consistently for a whole year. Your process really enlightened me of different aspects to take into consideration. As always, you have changed my thinking for the better! Tracey from San Diego, California

One of the best things I did for my budget and my holiday stress level was to use the Holiday Account option at the credit union. Not only do I save for gift giving, but a few years ago I increased it enough to cover the extra cost of hosting the big dinner.

I did a few savings challenges last year. I saved the money in a HYSA all year and used the lowest completed challenge first for Christmas then if I needed more I went to the next highest. I saved $40 from the first challenge after purchasing all. The highest gift purchased was $200. My primary focus is paying off debt and saving for my newborn’s future.

Next Christmas will be different.. my bf plan on saving for kids, wedding, house, etc. For the past 2 years, we have had a budget of $25 to $50 for our Christmas gifts for each other. We adopt a family from Salvation Army. This year i gave more to my bffs. 1 is taking classes, the other is going through a divorce. Next year will be giving but less cause priorities will change.

$2,000 seems high to me. We have 3 kids and 6 grandkids. $100 per person is it. You have to be creative and set the expectations. Especially grandkids they get so much from everyone. I try my best to stick to the 52 week savings challenge, which amounts to $1,378. I see no reason to up it Especially while paying debt. I might even try cutting to $75 per person we'll see.$50 to $60 for birthdays.

Try the "there's 12 days of Christmas" approach. Jesus got his gifts on Jan 6 when the wise men arrived. We would buy discounted toys the days after Christmas. Wish you all the best

We've already thought about a sinking fund for Christmas 2025. We must get out of debt in 2025 that car repairs got us into in 2024; ugh. Yes, start that 2025 Christmas budget today! We keep an eye open all year long for what someone would want for Christmas, with items on sale, that year. God bless us all in 2025.

You gotta work thru that sis. I have it too but just pray, journal, maybe talk to a good therapist, and be open and honest with your babies.
Be there as much as possible but don’t swing the other extreme and enable them or show irresponsible financial example. Figure out what their other love languages are and show up in that way. Let them know you’re starting a budgeting journey (if you want) and plan out gifts including maybe experiences or passes. You don’t want to face regret on top of regret!!! Trust me Im going thru it in other ways and it just compounds the grief❤️‍🩹
The way I think of it my kids would prefer my help paying a bill if they really need it as opposed to some expensive shoes or electronics 🤷🏽‍♀️ sending you love 💗

I think that purchasing gifts for our adult children is a personal choice. My mother still buys all 3 of her very grown children very good gifts every year and throughout the year...Let me add...without going into debt or making life difficult for her to do it....Every situation is different. Everyones budget is different. There are many people who CAN afford to buy gifts for adult people. It is based on what you can do and what your heart desires to do. Please do not feel guilty for buying your children gifts at whatever age they are :-)

Halloween is my favorite holiday so I am going to start saving my money now so I can go to Universal studios Halloween horror nights 2025 tickets $260+ hotel stay is about $139. So I will save for Halloween because Halloween is like the most expensive holiday for me and I have to go to the movies to see a horror movie tickets for that is about $40 because I love the movie theater popcorn and then horror movie streaming I will have to buy. Christmas is the cheapest Holiday for me but Halloween just burns a hole in my pocket.
