Growing up when we were little if we wanted blueberry crumble we’d be sent out (rain or shine) with baskets in hand to seek out and collect wild berries…we always had fun making up stories and larking around throughout the hours.
Yes it was! It was my first time picking in Hatchers. Normally we hit up the swamps by our house but it was fun to go somewhere new and with my girlfriend!
Your summers are so short. We cut and split our wood in the spring so it drys out good.We also have 3 ton of pellet coming. We used to burn just wood but getting older we went with pellet s also but very expensive. Your blueberries looked so good.Congrats on the weight loss you two.
We always say we will get a head start but somehow time slips away, the fish call and summer takes root! Uggh… it’s a beautiful day here today and I am going to miss this summer sunshine. These type of days are numbered.
In Vermont, firewood season is in the spring with frozen ground and snow. Firewood should all be cut, split and stacked, early, so it can cure in the 2 weeks of summer.

Hello Stacy and Gary, I love these types of videos. I realize that is easy for me to say. I am sitting in my living room watching Gary chop the wood. 🙂 I am curious as to how you preparing for winter. Do you stock up on food supplies? Other channels I watch say they try to have 2 to 4 months of food on hand in case they get snowed in and can't get out. Do you have to do that where you live? If so what are your goals for storage? Thank you for the videos. They are always fun and entertaining. Appreciate all the work you put into them. All the best to you.
We live one mile off the Parks Highway with 2 grocery stores within a 15 minutes drive so unlike many of my fellow Alaska TH-camrs we are closer to civilization so we don't have to worry as much. BUT we still have a good stock of food in our bulk pantry as well as our freezers. It doesn't take much to create a food shortage around here if the barge/ship's breaks down or is delayed by weather or the highway has a full closure. We kind of take the approach prepare for the worst in case SHTF but still rely on local stores for most. Also our freezers are definitely very full with moose, salmon and halibut this year due to our several fishing trips and the recent roadkill moose that we were blessed with so that reduces great pressure off of us in case a disaster does happen. We are prepared. Also our new way of eating we don't need much from the stores anymore either... as we only eat meat and fish. Hope that helps answer your question! Thanks Bill for stopping by and chatting with us. We so appreciate it!
