Everyone says that, but is there any real proof? If you don't know the actual track then you have nothing to compare it to. People also said there was a snippet in Revolution 9. Turns out that was just a different take of one of the other Revolution tracks and dropped into the mix by John.
Just came back from listening to it. Sounds pretty authentic. Those few seconds definitely have some unique character that I haven’t heard in other Beatles songs before

Remastering anything is great. Not sure about remixing though. The original ways something was mixed is how the BAND wanted it to be. I say, we should go with with their gut instincts.
This should be released on an album along with "You Know My Name" "Wild Honey Pie, and "What a shame Mary Jane", The album would be called "You guys will buy anything with the name Beatles on it".
Actually I like "You know my name" and even Revolution 9 much more than Yellow Submarine. These songs show the wide range of style that they covered. Revolution 9 is more Avantgarde than even the first "Kraftwerk" Album. They pushed the listeners beyond known limits

@@BeatlesTranscriber plastic beetle doesn't sound like it could be COL, vortex is the one because of the tape effects in the background. The drums in plastic beetle sound way to modern and not from 1967. But clearly theres parts of COL in liverpool sound collage. Theres actually a 5 minute snippet of COL in something/blue Jay way from the love album at the end of the song.👍

Also, not many people know about the soundtrack written by Paul McCartney and George Martin for Hayley Mills' 1966 film 'The Family Way', and George Harrison's soundtrack for the 1968 film 'Wonderwall'.
Paul has always been cool about releasing it. It was mainly Paul’s song and idea and that’s why yoko doesn’t want it released coz it ruins the narrative that John done avant garde things first.
I believe the main opposition were Olivia and Dhani Harrison. I strongly suspect the track will release eventually and I do hope there will be some kind of farewell album released once Paul and Ringo have passed, including more unreleased material.
This may sound weird, but I actually kind of like the mystery of knowing there's a Beatles "song" we'll never get to hear. Sure, it's a bummer we'll probably never get to listen to it, but the very thought that it exists is kind of exciting.
I agree. We know that about 7 minutes in we will probably lose enough interest that the next 7 minutes will be spent regretting looking forward to hearing this song for so many years. Let it stay the one mystery, that is probably its true value!

The Beatles’ track that I really wanted to hear, but once I heard it I was really disappointed with was the long version of Helter Skelter that appeared on The Beatles Super Deluxe Edition. If you heard the version of Helter Skelter that appears on Beatles Anthology, which is only about 4 minutes, you really haven’t missed anything. Something tells me Carnival Of Light might not be any different. I had read Paul had said Carnival Of Light should be released so the fans can hear it and judge for themselves if it’s any good.
And you can hear them on the latest 'Get Back' film having a ball doing a lot of stuff that sounds like absolute shit. But it's good to have a purge every now and then , get it out of your system. Not everything they did was gold, but it ultimately led to gold.
@@mxbx307 No. The track is listed as Helter Skelter Take 2, the final track on Disc 4 of The Beatles (Super Deluxe) which is 12 minutes and 54 seconds, the longest track of any Beatles song ever recorded. Some of what is in this 2018 track appears in a 4 minute version on Beatles Anthology 3, released in 1996.

Go read the thousands of pages of discussion on Steve Hoffman forums or the page at Beatles Bible (www.beatlesbible.com/songs/carnival-of-light/). If there are snippets of CoL on Love, the only way to prove it (without an official statement from Apple - which there is none) is to compare it to the song IF it ever gets released. To reiterate - you're speculating.
There's been plenty of times that I've heard that "it was not mastered." I've never known exactly what that meant. Obviously, it was mastered if it was submitted for the event and if a few others received a copy. I guess it was not mastered for official release. If it does get released, people are going to have to understand that this was done in the mid-60s as an experiment. It's probably not going to sound like much of anything today, and I don't imagine that it's going to sound like anything new. Although I think it would be great if they put it out, it's not going to be a future Beatles classic.
This reminds me of how publishers are always unearthing and promoting the 'lost' works of deceased authors, which the author intentionally buried and forgot about, and when you read it, you realize they did so with good reason. So if you want to listen to this song, do so with lowered expectations. But hey, the Beatles have over two hundred published songs, and many of them are pretty good, so that's a consolation, isn't it?
You mean, their short run as a recording band. John and Paul met in 1956, and that's when the band's core was formed, with George joining up not long after that. And of course, Ringo later on but still before they recorded as the Beatles for EMI.

I believe that it will eventually get released. Who controls the estate of George Harrison at the moment? His widow. And who will control it after her? Dhani Harrison. And he seems to be very open to a recording like this. And this kind of artwork is right up Yoko Ono Lennon's alley, except that it might make people realise that Paul McCartney was into the Avant Garde well before John Lennon ever was. It will get released.... and it will be a let-down as John and Yoko's Two Virgin's was when I first tracked it down on CD in 1991
I think with Paul still showing interest, it might be a matter of time. Will the track be an improve avant garde? Yeah, but it's still a cool piece to hear once. Espically since it was played for the venue it was created. Probably will be a huge let down but at least we might hear it and get to experience another piece of Beatles media!
My hope is that it finally gets released once Paul and Ringo have passed away. There might be some kind of farewell album including other unreleased material, and that'll be that. The rest will remain sealed forevermore. One thing we will never get to hear is Paul's family Christmas album. Apparently it's a staple of the McCartney family Christmas, he recorded a load of other Christmas music beyond the obvious "Wonderful Christmastime" and he is adamant the album is private and will never be released.
Well according to an interview with Paul, only he is playing on Carnival of Light at the Roundhouse with whoever was there at the time and only played once live. So was it even recorded?

I personally don't think we'll ever hear it, and the truth is plain to see: it's bad. Carnival of Light was just a psychedelic experiment (the band probably "composed" and recorded it under the influence of lisergic drugs). It was never meant to be officially released, not even at the time, much less now. It's a pity, really, because Beatles fans (specially beatlemaniacs like myself) love to discover new tracks from the group, and this one has been talked about for more than 3 decades now, so the expectation is high.
Melodically‘I want to hold your hand’ wants just a simple love song. In fact it was very unusual and unique and the reason they made such an impact. Should t write it off . And they never wrote ‘hundreds’ of songs!!
From what I've read, I'm not really sure you could call it a song. There are no lyrics and probably no melody or regular beat. Its more a collection of random instruments noises some sound effects and John and Paul saying random things. Like a really primitive version of Revolution #9 from the White Album.
If all 4 estates agreed on releasing (the previous unreleased horrible tune) “What’s the New Mary Jane” (Anthology 3) but couldn’t agree on “Carnival of Light” then I am going to assume that this tune is also a stinker. The Beatles were working on an album named "Liverpool Stories" when Paul McCartney was killed in a car crash. That is why "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Fields Forever" were only included on the latter album "Magical Mystery Tour". There was a lot more that was not released the songs: "Tom's Diner" "Hooray for Bollywood" (George) "Can I Pet Your Goldfish" (Ringo) "Dead Man". The songs were actually released on the extremely limited super deluxe edition of the 50th Anniversary CD of Sgt. Pepper probably for copyright reasons. Carnival of Light has been released and is kind of disappointing or strange. I haven't heard the other songs although there is a brief description of some of the lyrics etc. Can't wait to hear them.

Billy took over the part of Paul because he was a dead ringer for him and had worked at Beatles concerts as part of a diversion group after the concerts. How do we know this is the truth? Nothing about Faul or the present Paul matches including his DNA, handwriting, or even a forensic study carried out to confirm he was Paul but ended up saying he wasn't. Oh yeah, there's a good amount of lost Beatles music out there but verifying it can be a little rough. There can be a lot of fake material to go through and some of it is still being found! But you are right haha

The video was made with the idea to give a bit of backstory to an unreleased track and as to why it's not being released. The song has a good amount of history behind it, the only downside is its not available to the public. However there is a chance that could always change, as soon as it does I'll be updating the video and the comment section with that information. Pretty much, the video is to talk about what could of been, it's a bit of an unsolved mystery that doesn't have a conclusion yet. To end it off, the video is also something for someone to watch to get an idea of what they missed out on. Some people might not of ever heard about the track and here is just a bit of information in case it ever does reach the light of day.

Without sounding pretentious, as an artist I'd be reticent to release a work thats something akin to a "sketch". If The artist decides its a throwaway or just a portfolio piece who's to argue? While I accept evolution of language, we have no word for what reticence used to mean. "Reticent" is a direct import from Latin, in which it means "Remaining silent" and it held pretty much this meaning until only a decade or so. Americans were first to conflate the two quite different-meaning words, and American dictionaries were first to enshrine what began as an error.

Obviously Webster's 1940 does not list that definition but listen to its entry: "having a disposition to be silent; reserved; not apt to speak about or reveal any matters". One can easily see the trajectory towards my using it to mean "reserved" in the sense of reluctant. I'm definitely using it in a more figurative way to infer The Beatles' reservations. I initially only commented on your intimating that it was a sort of "bastardization" with no proper right to inheritance, so to speak.
Revolution #9 is not a song, of course. It's a sound collage and THE most experimental recording The Beatles put out on record. I'm suspecting 'Carnival' is something along those lines, again not a song, but a crazy improv. I wasn't too thrilled when I first heard the '12 bar original'. Not everything done by them needs to be disclosed?
At the end of the day, it's up to them if it should ever come out, it wasn't the only track that got vettoed out from the anthology collection. I think it's kind of interesting that McCartney seems to have an interest in this song in particular. More than likely though it's nothing big, and it's just something he had fun making!
@@Tamildin Of course it’s up to them. It’s up to me if I want to listen. The Anthologies were already a bit underwhelming for me. To release other obscure stuff after that would be ‘scraping the barrel’, according to one of them at the time. So basically there’s nothing left, the reason why they keep releasing the usual stuff refurbished and refurbished again and yet again. Including Peter Jackson’s take on the Get Back project which was full of not-so-terribly-interesting renditions of ‘whatever’ (stuck in a rut). But money does count and so does the myth of these four young lads who had a remarkable talent for churning out hit after hit plus experiments. But there was and is an end to it. Let it be indeed.
John and Yoko (and George and Ringo) put out Revolution #9 on The Beatles double album without Paul and that really irritated him. Funny that Paul allowed them to put that song out. As for Carnival of Light, it's just one of those songs whose myth has grown way beyond the reality of the song itself. Likely it isn't much better than some of that "Unfinished Music" that John put out in the late '60s as solo projects.
I suspect it's just noise and noodling, interesting to listen to a few times just because it's The Beatles. It likely won't be all that interesting and is probably little more than a mere passing curiosity.
I have carnival of light on cd. It's the full amount 15 min version. As with everything else bootlegged this is from a Japan cd the "song" Carnival of light isn't really a song there's no melody it's a collage or montage of sounds ala revolution 9....pretty much same thing .you'll listen to it once that's it...
It's still something that was made by the Beatles and used for an event. It might not be a song but it still a lost Beatles project. You mentioned you had it in a CD?! Have you ever considered uploading it?

It was especially great that a photo Crowley’s photo was on the cover so we know their influences ! At the time I loved them but now I think that they were just a manufactured POS band ? Just think of Laurel Canyon , La but across the pond !
The better known Jesus and Hitler (Mao made it) were posited for the album cover too, but were censored for reasons of taste..... make of that as you will. On the positive side you still have Ghandi, Mae West, Marilyn Monroe and Diana Dors.......... ;-)

For interest, the "number nine" part is taken from an EMI demo tape designed to test studio equipment.

The drums in plastic beetle sound way to modern and not from 1967. But clearly theres parts of COL in liverpool sound collage. Theres actually a 5 minute snippet of COL in something/blue Jay way from the love album at the end of the song.👍

Paul has always been cool about releasing it. It was mainly Paul’s song and idea and that’s why yoko doesn’t want it released coz it ruins the narrative that John done avant garde things first.
I believe the main opposition were Olivia and Dhani Harrison. I strongly suspect the track will release eventually and I do hope there will be some kind of farewell album released once Paul and Ringo have passed, including more unreleased material.

The Beatles’ track that I really wanted to hear, but once I heard it I was really disappointed with was the long version of Helter Skelter that appeared on The Beatles Super Deluxe Edition. If you heard the version of Helter Skelter that appears on Beatles Anthology, which is only about 4 minutes, you really haven’t missed anything. Something tells me Carnival Of Light might not be any different. I had read Paul had said Carnival Of Light should be released so the fans can hear it and judge for themselves if it’s any good.
And you can hear them on the latest 'Get Back' film having a ball doing a lot of stuff that sounds like absolute shit. But it's good to have a purge every now and then , get it out of your system. Not everything they did was gold, but it ultimately led to gold.

@@mxbx307 No. The track is listed as Helter Skelter Take 2, the final track on Disc 4 of The Beatles (Super Deluxe) which is 12 minutes and 54 seconds, the longest track of any Beatles song ever recorded. Some of what is in this 2018 track appears in a 4 minute version on Beatles Anthology 3, released in 1996.

There's been plenty of times that I've heard that "it was not mastered." I've never known exactly what that meant. Obviously, it was mastered if it was submitted for the event and if a few others received a copy. I guess it was not mastered for official release. If it does get released, people are going to have to understand that this was done in the mid-60s as an experiment. It's probably not going to sound like much of anything today, and I don't imagine that it's going to sound like anything new. Although I think it would be great if they put it out, it's not going to be a future Beatles classic.

This reminds me of how publishers are always unearthing and promoting the 'lost' works of deceased authors, which the author intentionally buried and forgot about, and when you read it, you realize they did so with good reason. So if you want to listen to this song, do so with lowered expectations. But hey, the Beatles have over two hundred published songs, and many of them are pretty good, so that's a consolation, isn't it?
You mean, their short run as a recording band. John and Paul met in 1956, and that's when the band's core was formed, with George joining up not long after that. And of course, Ringo later on but still before they recorded as the Beatles for EMI.

I believe that it will eventually get released. Who controls the estate of George Harrison at the moment? His widow. And who will control it after her? Dhani Harrison. And he seems to be very open to a recording like this. And this kind of artwork is right up Yoko Ono Lennon's alley, except that it might make people realise that Paul McCartney was into the Avant Garde well before John Lennon ever was. It will get released.... and it will be a let-down as John and Yoko's Two Virgin's was when I first tracked it down on CD in 1991

I personally don't think we'll ever hear it, and the truth is plain to see: it's bad. Carnival of Light was just a psychedelic experiment (the band probably "composed" and recorded it under the influence of lisergic drugs). It was never meant to be officially released, not even at the time, much less now. It's a pity, really, because Beatles fans (specially beatlemaniacs like myself) love to discover new tracks from the group, and this one has been talked about for more than 3 decades now, so the expectation is high.
Melodically‘I want to hold your hand’ wants just a simple love song. In fact it was very unusual and unique and the reason they made such an impact. Should t write it off . And they never wrote ‘hundreds’ of songs!!

From what I've read, I'm not really sure you could call it a song. There are no lyrics and probably no melody or regular beat. Its more a collection of random instruments noises some sound effects and John and Paul saying random things. Like a really primitive version of Revolution #9 from the White Album.

The Beatles were working on an album named "Liverpool Stories" when Paul McCartney was killed in a car crash. That is why "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Fields Forever" were only included on the latter album "Magical Mystery Tour". There was a lot more that was not released the songs: "Tom's Diner" "Hooray for Bollywood" (George) "Can I Pet Your Goldfish" (Ringo) "Dead Man". The songs were actually released on the extremely limited super deluxe edition of the 50th Anniversary CD of Sgt. Pepper probably for copyright reasons. Carnival of Light has been released and is kind of disappointing or strange. I haven't heard the other songs although there is a brief description of some of the lyrics etc. Can't wait to hear them.

This video talks about a particular song. But this video does not allow you to hear it. So why do you post a video and the viewer is hoping to hear a track which is still some where in the archives ?. There is far too much rubbish on the internet these days and I am afraid to say this video shows us nothing we don't know already. PC. 07. 10. 2021.
The video was made with the idea to give a bit of backstory to an unreleased track and as to why it's not being released.
The song has a good amount of history behind it, the only downside is its not available to the public. However there is a chance that could always change, as soon as it does I'll be updating the video and the comment section with that information.
Pretty much, the video is to talk about what could of been, it's a bit of an unsolved mystery that doesn't have a conclusion yet.
To end it off, the video is also something for someone to watch to get an idea of what they missed out on. Some people might not of ever heard about the track and here is just a bit of information in case it ever does reach the light of day.

While I accept evolution of language, we have no word for what reticence used to mean.
"Reticent" is a direct import from Latin, in which it means "Remaining silent" and it held pretty much this meaning until only a decade or so. Americans were first to conflate the two quite different-meaning words, and American dictionaries were first to enshrine what began as an error.

Revolution #9 is not a song, of course. It's a sound collage and THE most experimental recording The Beatles put out on record. I'm suspecting 'Carnival' is something along those lines, again not a song, but a crazy improv. I wasn't too thrilled when I first heard the '12 bar original'. Not everything done by them needs to be disclosed?
At the end of the day, it's up to them if it should ever come out, it wasn't the only track that got vettoed out from the anthology collection. I think it's kind of interesting that McCartney seems to have an interest in this song in particular. More than likely though it's nothing big, and it's just something he had fun making!

To release other obscure stuff after that would be ‘scraping the barrel’, according to one of them at the time. So basically there’s nothing left, the reason why they keep releasing the usual stuff refurbished and refurbished again and yet again. Including Peter Jackson’s take on the Get Back project which was full of not-so-terribly-interesting renditions of ‘whatever’ (stuck in a rut). But money does count and so does the myth of these four young lads who had a remarkable talent for churning out hit after hit plus experiments. But there was and is an end to it. Let it be indeed.
John and Yoko (and George and Ringo) put out Revolution #9 on The Beatles double album without Paul and that really irritated him. Funny that Paul allowed them to put that song out. As for Carnival of Light, it's just one of those songs whose myth has grown way beyond the reality of the song itself. Likely it isn't much better than some of that "Unfinished Music" that John put out in the late '60s as solo projects.
I suspect it's just noise and noodling, interesting to listen to a few times just because it's The Beatles. It likely won't be all that interesting and is probably little more than a mere passing curiosity.

I have carnival of light on cd. It's the full amount 15 min version. As with everything else bootlegged this is from a Japan cd the "song" Carnival of light isn't really a song there's no melody it's a collage or montage of sounds ala revolution 9....pretty much same thing .you'll listen to it once that's it...
It's still something that was made by the Beatles and used for an event. It might not be a song but it still a lost Beatles project. You mentioned you had it in a CD?! Have you ever considered uploading it?

There was always a rumour of a second mastered copy of Carnival of Light making its way to the US at one point. After 55 years and still apparently never bootlegged?

And yet, George didn't veto Revolution #9 from getting on the White Album, even though his song Not Guilty didn't make the cut.
It was especially great that a photo Crowley’s photo was on the cover so we know their influences ! At the time I loved them but now I think that they were just a manufactured POS band ? Just think of Laurel Canyon , La but across the pond !
The better known Jesus and Hitler (Mao made it) were posited for the album cover too, but were censored for reasons of taste..... make of that as you will. On the positive side you still have Ghandi, Mae West, Marilyn Monroe and Diana Dors.......... ;-)
