Thanks SO much for posting this!! Saw it on TV and gave me goosebumps. I didn't even know I liked folk music! Those Tickell siblings are top talent! My parents were lucky enough to be at this performance and raved about it. What a magic night!
The second tune is the old Shetland Reel "Da New Rigged Ship". Kathryn studied with the great Shetland fiddler Tom Anderson and really smashes it here. It has to be one of the most joyous tunes ever written. Just visualise the proud fisherman spanking though the choppy Shetland waters with his bright new sails. I had the pleasure of playing this with her to a packed hall a couple of years back, and for a fiddler of somewhat modest attainments it was a memorable treat.
@@Deejaay83urj38 Well, I was attending a workshop at the famous Dartington Hall Summer School so she was being paid to put up with me. She wasn't seeking me out for my blinding talent - I can assure you! The concert was in a glorious Tudor hall and seemed to be much appreciated. Basically, anything Kathryn is involved with tends to be much appreciated. I was standing right beside her and we led off a tune together. I have to admit to being a bit of a fan-boy so it was a red-letter moment. But judging by the video, Sting is a bit of a fan boy too - so I'm in quite good company...
Wonderful joyous energetic fun. And memories of you in West Cumbria. What a way to get joy and energy injected into our soul, music is the drug and bliss is the high - Thanks.
Doesn't get much better than this. And all the musicians, from different backgrounds and styles, all getting into this, The cellist almost steals the show, but just all of them taking part - brilliant!
No solo la pieza, músicos y orquestación sino que la edición del video es tremendamente buena, extraordinaria. / Not only the piece, musicians and orchestration but also the video editing is tremendously good, extraordinary.
I have never seen people enjoy the music they are playing it is infectious thanks to Kathryn and peter for bringing joy back to the humble listener
This hits the spot every time !!!

Great performance! Both violinists are incredible - the music sets one in the mood for dancing.
that's 'cause they're real fiddlers, not violinists ;-)
