    Frank's overpowering sacrifice was designed for your safety in mind. That poop was fresh, ergo the bear is near, and his new smell would fend him off, or at least not attract him. Brave Frank (who, admittedly, seems to love poop in all forms) was protecting you. Love your life, mice and all.

      @@TomLloyd-18 I actually was curious enough to look it up. Animals (dogs specifically) will roll in the feces of other animals to disguise their scent. They made the point that it's instinctive, and not just to hunting dogs. Now, the eating of poop is a whole other deal. According to one theory, the pet is so well trained not to leave his droppings, when he sees another animal's poo, it eats it so that the owner won't punish their pet thinking it's theirs. I don't know about all that, but I do believe the theory for why they roll in it.

      @@AndrosIslandZ Dogs eat poo from an animal that has just eaten a lot of protein...thus their love of cat feces, cats being obligatory carnivores, their poo has a lot of protein in it. Dogs don't think about punishment until they see their owner looking displeased. Thus the TH-cam videos of the guilty-looking dog with a torn-up couch pillow or an overturned kitchen trash bin.

    A small thing you can do to help the contractor out. Every time you go up to check things out. Bring a case of water. Buy a cooler, ice the water down for the guys. " you will get those little extras with out a cost plus slip. Put up a tarp shaded area where they can get out of the heat on breaks. I've been in the trades for 45 years, those little things mean alot.

      Hey you two, the golf game and fishing was funny to watch. But a heads up on the house your going to build. Not time to be playing.
      You know snow is coming. You know you will have LUMBER building supplies. You may want to build a strong , car port like shelter. 4×4 ? 7 feet out of the ground and a basic, 2x6 roof framing. It's only temporary, to rain and snow off you building stuff. Also you'll want a area for a fire pit, to warm up. When the temp drops you want dry wood to work with. It not it will be 3 times as heavy. And hard to cut. And nail.have fun later.

    You might want to consider a carport/“garage” tent for Terry for the winter. The winter winds will turn Terry into a icebox/freezer that your heater can’t heat up.
    You could also consider skirting/foamboard for Terry as well to keep the wind/cold from underneath.

      They have solar on the roof so need roof exposed to the sun, bit I agree about the being an icebox. I spent a winter in my son's camper I'm wyoming. Even though it was skirted it froze. Tub froze, sink froze, toilet froze, I froze, Minus 27 for a week straight, yep, that will do it!

    When it comes time to set Terry up for winter (hopefully you'll be plugged into electrical power by then), but hay bales will be your best friend, use full bales all the way around the bottom of Terry, DON'T forget to put waterline heaters on all your waterlines, it's called heat tape, just incase you're unfamiliar with it. Back to hay bales, you can use them to block wind and even on your roof if you have alot of heat loss, Also pick up an oil filled radiator for extra heat inside, they're absolutely awesome and hold heat long after they shut off. So unlike an electric heater they don't have to run constantly, plus imo they are safer and give off better heat.

  • @sneaks6635
    @sneaks6635 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Awesome! Note-Wintering in an RV is a whole different can of worms and cold! You can burn through a whole world of lp in a heartbeat. Look at alternatives to your little furnace. Look at ways to put a skirt around Terry - she is a girl after all and cold wind under her isn't fun. You need to keep your water from freezing! Look at blue flame heaters - 99.9% efficient and a dehumidifier because lp produces water, whether it's your furnace or an alternative and you'll need one regardless of your heat source. Cooking will produce a lot of moisture too. Moisture is an RV's worst enemy. Been there and done this for three years. Also snow in the mountains and a heated trailer is going to create ice on the top of Terry. She isn't designed for the load. She needs a roof/carport to keep you all safe and her roof/solar panels secure from load damage. Do your homework now before winter sets in because learning these things and having to fix them when there's 6 foot of snow coming down is going to be horrible. That all being said, it's so relaxing and fun to watch your videos. Thanks!

  • @HaroldMalaby
    @HaroldMalaby 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Funny stuff now let's get serious. So when you're set up on your property you'll want to skirt that trailer and come winter you'll be glad you did. Allowing wind/cold under that trailer would be a mistake so do it before winter snow sets in.

    I have spent two winters in my rv in Utah now. I block my bedroom windows with pillows. I also keep my water tanks empty and use bottled water and shower at the gym. You have got to get some heaters for your pipes and tanks. On top of that you have to insulate the heck out of them. You don't want to be doing that after the snow is flying and pipes have broken. "Winter is coming!"

  • @RJ-er3gv
    @RJ-er3gv 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    From experience, we lived in a Terry while building a house.There is not enough insulation in Terry or is the water system designed for winter it will freeze, that's likely how your outdoor shower broke. Single pain windows will sweat and water damage will occur on the walls. Your own seat and moisture from breathing will freeze on walls. An insulation box over the A/C will help a fraction.

      So true. I've lived in Florida 16 years, only have been to Key West as part of a cruise, haven't done the gulf coast from Homosassa up, and I've only hit the highlights from Sarasota down, but my husband and I are about to spend a few nights at one of the beaches, since a friend pointed us to a resort she's been going to for years that is sparsely booked lately, and their beach is private. A couple of books, lots of sunscreen and it's be a nice break from everything.

    I wish we could attach a photo, but we keep our water jugs on a cinderblock laid horizontal not vertical. So it’s high enough to keep out the dirt but low enough for them to reach.
    Some of our younger ones stretch their neck to reach but they’re birds and can do it. Plus they will grow and fully reach the water.
    Consider a cinder or cement block laid horizontal. We are going to look into your feeder pipes! Great idea!

    We fulltime in our 5th wheel year round with very cold winters. What works for us to keep warm, water flowing and pipes thawed....skirting, heated hoses, heat tape, multiple digital thermometers, and a small heavy duty electric heater for under the rv. We skirt with high density foam board. You can buy snap on skirting. Just steer clear of straw or hay bales as they attract rodents and are highly flammable. We heat tape and utilize heated hoses. We place a digital thermometer under the rv to monitor that temp...we learned at what temp we began to have problems and began propping open cupboards where plumbing exists. This also allowed us to turn on a very small, stable heavy duty heater underneath, plugged into a heavy duty all weather cord if things dropped too low. Be sure to have good smoke/fire, carbon monoxide and propane detectors. The other thermometers helped track internal and external temps. You can also have a larger propane tank delivered to the property if they offer that in your area. If you buy bulk before temps drop it will be less expensive and they will just deliver to you without further charge until your account reaches zero...then you will pay as you go. Reflectex or bubble wrap on your windows is a great insulator. Make sure you crack vents and use moisture barrier under mattress to avoid mold from moisture in the closed in space over winter. We also keep a few different heat sources around to be safe. A little buddy heater and an electric portable heater (as high efficiency as you can find).

      Don't worry. When they get parked for the winter and get snowed in, and all the Nutella and Danish cookies are done, both Allie and Trent will spend their time making the lesser of the two evils, homemade shortbread with REAL butter, as a pair. So it becomes shared moments with" Melting Moments" which is the name of the recipe for the shortbread. And "Bread" is just a euphemism. Then Trent will know what it is really like to "En-joy" and Allie can happily forsake her nutty 'vice'. Get some good quality cocoa and make chocolate shortbread. - Keep the tins from the Danish to store the next six months' supply.
