That story is made up and not part of mahabharat by ved vyasa which why it is not included. Also shakuni didn't have a limp as per mahabharat. It was added by the actor who played the role because he got injured before playing the role, he then thought it would be nice addition to the character. I think the actor himself said this during the interview. Read mahabharat by geeta press, they have nice books and even concise version of mahabharat.

In reality they were not a son of Pandu. The sons of dhritrashtra and gandhari are called Gaurava. Eldest son was duryodhana next was Dusshasana. Next 98 sons. Gandhari has also daughter named dushala
