I love to watch her fingers on the keys, her own facial expressions, her connections with the orchestra - an indication of the true virtuoso that she is, the great interpretation of the great Tchaikovsky. This is just the best performance of the Tchaikovsky. I have heard. I thought her 2005 recording of the piece was fantabulous. but this performance is nothing short of mind blowing. Alice is a beautiful woman who plays beautiful music. I have listened to her performances of the Beethoven concertos - I just wish I could find her performances of No. 4 and the Emperor. To watch her fingers on the keys, her wonderful facial expressions, her connections with the orchestra all shows what a true virtuoso she is.. This video has become my weekly 'must-see' to get rid of 'Sunday evening blue'. Ms. Ott is probably the best (not one of) pianist in her generation. Too sad that she is suffering from MS. May God bless her heath and let her bring more superb performances to us.

The tempo from the orchestra is on the slow side, though it works well during some passages. The camera-folks suck, at times zooming into completely the wrong places. But A.S.O is incredible. All of the notes come out clear, her dynamic control is fantastic, and the musical/physical expressiveness are enjoyable.
Alice, you play wonderfully! Your playing on the Steinway is so smooth, that I could listen to this all day! Please keep it going as you will be at the apex of classical music forever!

@kzh I agree that it's not "so" obvious, but to a trained musician, it could be noticed. Also in the 2nd movement, there was passage that was a little "uncomfortable" as the oboe soloist was not quite in sync Ms. Ott.
I compared this performance with Ms. Yuja Wang, whose performance was just slightly more up tempo, and thus in my opinion, made the overall performance a little more dynamic. Although I do very much appreciate both artists.
