The cell wall in plant cells is just what makes the cell so good at dealing with different tonicities, so if you just remove it from the salt water and put it in normal water, it should puff up again
@Savicii The fact you, and everyone else like you, go to the comments to spread your "I'm better, this person sucks" rhetoric on every feasible comment: shows you all are conglomerately willing to put down people for fame and fortune. @@EldritchCaptain you’re correct, it will regain turgor pressure as long as the cell has not lysed, but it won’t rebind to the cell wall, and particles will have a tough time passing through specialized pores
1:04 For anyone who wants know why, this process is actually called osmosis. Since water concentration inside the cell is higher than water concentration outside the cell, the water will diffuse from the inside of the cell to the outside. The water keeps the cell turgid (swollen), so without as much water, the cell shrinks.
Just a minor correction, it's not so much the water concentration as it is the osmotic potential caused by the high salt concentration on the outside of cells

I'm pretty sure this is false, since I did a lab about osmosis earlier this spring where I saw just that happening.
Have you ever noticed that not one of all these pathetic grasps at glory have ever succeeded for any of you? It's because the vast majority don't want to follow someone who would put people down for nothing. And at the end of it all, it's simply sad. You could be better, but you won't.
@@EldritchCaptain you’re correct, it will regain turgor pressure as long as the cell has not lysed, but it won’t rebind to the cell wall, and particles will have a tough time passing through specialized pores
That makes me sad
That's so sad
1:04
For anyone who wants know why, this process is actually called osmosis. Since water concentration inside the cell is higher than water concentration outside the cell, the water will diffuse from the inside of the cell to the outside. The water keeps the cell turgid (swollen), so without as much water, the cell shrinks.
You just explained osmosis better than any of my teachers ever have.
Just a minor correction, it's not so much the water concentration as it is the osmotic potential caused by the high salt concentration on the outside of cells
When the cell membrane peels off the cell wall, the plant cell can be called flaccid. If enough water escapes, it can be called plasmolysed.
@@patriciamaharajh9864 plasmolysis is a type of osmosis so he's still technically correct
@@patriciamaharajh9864
Plasmolysis is the result of osmosis. Osmosis is the extraction of the water from the cell. Plasmolysis is the detachment of the cell membrane from the cell wall due to shrinking caused by water volume loss.
