The bathroom one: they are not only violating human rights, but they are also violating any disabilities act their country has. There are several medical conditions (Crohn's Disease, pelvic floor disorder, nerve damage) that require ready access to a washroom. This needs to be sent to the news, to the local government, and they need to sue that school. Unacceptable.
Not to mention I guarantee they "close" them after four minutes are up to punish the students, which would be a hilarious violation of fire codes. But this most likely happened in a red state where federal laws are mere guidelines due to lack of judges who will actually prosecute.

To anyone wondering about the bathroom clip, Daily Dose got it mixed up. The gates are only down like that for 4 minutes in-between class because there was a vandalism problem at that school. Students were allowed to use the bathroom during class. I still don't understand how putting a gate down during passing periods fixes that problem but I was curious and looked into it a bit more and found that out. It's still an insanely stupid idea.

I worked as a Clerk in charge of placing orders given to me using tax payers money for the school district in my area. The shit these districts request and approve of are outrageous. It's like they buy things BECAUSE they have a surplus of money, then petition for higher taxing so they get more money to waste.

Locking bathrooms is a bad idea. I remember one time in first grade my teacher was scary and she banned anyone from going to the restroom during class. One day this one girl who sat near me pissed all over herself at her desk and everyone turned and looked at her horrified, no one was laughing. The teacher started yelling "WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME YOU NEEDED TO GO?!" and that girl started tearing up and said "But you told us we can't go..."

As a student who never cared until they reached college, I can confidently say that providing freedom to people is what inspires education. When you let people have some freedom and responsibility, they tend to want to keep earning more.
This is such an important thing to learn and know. Everything will improve for everyone if you have faith and leave people be. Sure, maybe 1% will behave like morons, but that is absolutely 100% worth it if the other 99% are a LOT happier, perform a LOT better, among many more upsides
A teacher scolded me for going to the bathroom once. My parents had to talk to the entire administration because I stopped going at school and ended up getting severe constipation which resulted in multiple ER visits. After that, I had a free hall pass to go whenever I needed to. I remember missing an entire musical during a field trip because I was on the toilet in pain. It's not fun on my side. The gates on those doors makes me so sad.
It really sucks that you had to end up in the ER for them to do something about it. Something like that could have caused permanent damage that you'd have to live with for the rest of your life. That can lead to an impacted colon which can be very serious.
That's the first time i see a school with that auto-gates at toilet/WC in our country, they are free to go to toilets, but just for once in every class.. so when for example math class alredy end, n continue with history or other class, you can go toilet again..

When I was in highschool there was a teacher that tried to not let students use the restroom in their class. Then one day someone said they had to go and was told no so he went ahead and pissed in the trash can in the corner of the room. That teacher got rid of that policy fairly quickly after that

The younger generation got the short stick. That bathroom thing is so wild, in my school anyone was allowed to go to the bathroom without asking as long as they left quietly and only one person in class used the bathroom at a time. Nobody, not even the most disruptive kids abused the system.
I remember one guy just straight up answered a phone call from his mom in the middle of the class and just walked out 😂 But yeah, we were allowed too of course. But the trachers were not happy, saying thay they would be responsible if we got hurt and that we had time during the break. But they were not allowed to forbid it. Only one teacher allowed to just quetly leave the class
Honestly if the kids do decide to abuse it it's on them. You can't control their actions at all times, especially not without consequences for the good children. All you can do is tell the kids what to do, why they should do it, and punish them when possible to reinforce the point. If they still try to abuse it, well, they'll face the consequences later on. Such is life. Just do your best to get the point across and hope that's enough. No need to be excessive because even if you are they will still find ways to abuse it and it might even make it worse.
I have the same thing. People can get up and leave, and generally speaking one kid is let out at a time. That's sort of an unspoken rule though, and I'm sure if people left while another was in the bathroom, it'd be fine
For my last two years at high school, the restrooms were kept locked at all times, and anyone wanting to use them (or be in the hallway at all during class) had to be escorted by an administrator. Admin never started a reason.
As a significantly deaf chap, my friends mouth to me all the time, and it’s hilarious. They know I’m not sensitive about it and my hearing loss is more a source of humour than a burden (thanks to my hearing aids). However, I’m not sure I like the idea of doing it to a senior who is a complete stranger. It seems cruel, especially to someone to whom loss of hearing is an unavoidable reminder of their deteriorating lives.

I’ve been on so many cruises and let me tell you, ALWAYS close and lock the balcony door before opening the stateroom door, especially on sea days or when there is a lot of wind. Well every time he went up to the counter to turn in the slip they had an excuse to not give him the money the machine was down, they had to get the tax forms from the office they were out of them at the payout counter etc. then he started noticing the security around him (my wife said he always was a bit paranoid and in retrospect there was nothing exceptional about the amount of security around the place and they weren’t particularly focused on him or her but at the time it just seemed that way) so he walked up to the counter tore up the paper slip and said “please let us leave“ my wife said she’s never been so afraid in her life they quickly made their way out to the car and were backing out when they saw a guy in a suit running towards them waving and yelling well he just floored it and they got out of there. it was later on when they were having a drink to calm their nerves they realize that the guy was waving a bunch of papers and yelling something along the lines of “Wait Sir wait your money.” It was only after the adrenaline had worn off and they were able to think a little more clearheaded that they pieced things together. but he looked at her and said “look we only really lost five dollars I can live with that no way I’m fucking going back there.“. I just wonder if some of the casino workers maybe didn’t get into trouble because my wife said the way they were coming across was hostile maybe they were having a bad night at work or something who knows but I’ve heard a few other stories from people that supposedly had won money and for whatever bullshit reason have walked out with nothing I know they weren’t cheats. I got pretty lucky upon entering my high school. The teachers basically told us "If you need to use the bathroom, just get up and go.", as they thought that it was way more disruptive to their flow when people raise their hand all the time and had to ask first.

As a student who never cared until they reached college, I can confidently say that providing freedom to people is what inspires education. When you let people have some freedom and responsibility, they tend to want to keep earning more.
This is such an important thing to learn and know. Everything will improve for everyone if you have faith and leave people be. Sure, maybe 1% will behave like morons, but that is absolutely 100% worth it if the other 99% are a LOT happier, perform a LOT better, among many more upsides
A teacher scolded me for going to the bathroom once. My parents had to talk to the entire administration because I stopped going at school and ended up getting severe constipation which resulted in multiple ER visits. After that, I had a free hall pass to go whenever I needed to. I remember missing an entire musical during a field trip because I was on the toilet in pain. It's not fun on my side. The gates on those doors makes me so sad.
It really sucks that you had to end up in the ER for them to do something about it. Something like that could have caused permanent damage that you'd have to live with for the rest of your life. That can lead to an impacted colon which can be very serious.

It’s a trust system. So many students use the bathrooms to skip class, vape, etc. The students at that school must be incredibly irresponsible if the school felt the need to put freaking metal gates to block the bathrooms.
I had a teacher in kindergarten prevent me from going to the bathroom, it was in a French emersion school. I don't understand how people think kids can hold it in, it just isn't good at all!

That bathroom thing is so wild, in my school anyone was allowed to go to the bathroom without asking as long as they left quietly and only one person in class used the bathroom at a time. Nobody, not even the most disruptive kids abused the system.

Honestly if the kids do decide to abuse it it's on them. You can't control their actions at all times, especially not without consequences for the good children. All you can do is tell the kids what to do, why they should do it, and punish them when possible to reinforce the point. If they still try to abuse it, well, they'll face the consequences later on. Such is life. Just do your best to get the point across and hope that's enough. No need to be excessive because even if you are they will still find ways to abuse it and it might even make it worse.
I have the same thing. People can get up and leave, and generally speaking one kid is let out at a time. That's sort of an unspoken rule though, and I'm sure if people left while another was in the bathroom, it'd be fine

With the cruise door one, I know very well about it. I’ve been on so many cruises and let me tell you, ALWAYS close and lock the balcony door before opening the stateroom door, especially on sea days or when there is a lot of wind. The rush of air is nothing to joke about if you have belongings outside. They can be flown out of the ship and into the water it goes. Thankfully never had this experience but it’s something to know about

I was in Vegas about 20 years ago and this guy hit $100,000 on a progressive slot machine, it was at the Gold Coast a secondary casino off the main strip not too expensive quite pleasant accommodations. anyway, they ran up and he looked at them and he said “yeah yeah I know the machine is malfunctioning, I gotcha” and they were trying to tell him “no sir you actually won, congratulations” and he just screamed at them at the top of his voice “BULLSHIT!!! You don’t have to put on a show for all the other people around here and then tell me I didn’t win in the fucking back room.” and turned around and walked out and they were frantically trying to stop him without getting physical with him because they had no right to be physical. I don’t know if that guy ever got his money or not, But the level of pissed off he looked I’m thinking the Gold Coast probably didn’t have to pay anything out that night. but that’s what happens when these fucking casinos basically every time somebody wins are told that the machine malfunctioned, ESPECIALLY at the Native American casinos places if they even have an inkling that you’re winning at anything will throw you out. if you’re lucky you don’t get an ass beating. Smart thing to do is say you win $5000 intentionally lose $3800 of it back that way you don’t have to file any kind of tax reports and they leave you alone. In fact my wife just reminded me she went to a casino with her ex-boyfriend a guy she dated before she met me and he hit $3000 on a slot machine this was a tribal casino in Arizona. Well every time he went up to the counter to turn in the slip they had an excuse to not give him the money the machine was down, they had to get the tax forms from the office they were out of them at the payout counter etc. then he started noticing the security around him (my wife said he always was a bit paranoid and in retrospect there was nothing exceptional about the amount of security around the place and they weren’t particularly focused on him or her but at the time it just seemed that way)
so he walked up to the counter tore up the paper slip and said “please let us leave“ my wife said she’s never been so afraid in her life they quickly made their way out to the car and were backing out when they saw a guy in a suit running towards them waving and yelling well he just floored it and they got out of there. it was later on when they were having a drink to calm their nerves they realize that the guy was waving a bunch of papers and yelling something along the lines of “Wait Sir wait your money.” It was only after the adrenaline had worn off and they were able to think a little more clearheaded that they pieced things together. but he looked at her and said “look we only really lost five dollars I can live with that no way I’m fucking going back there.“. I just wonder if some of the casino workers maybe didn’t get into trouble because my wife said the way they were coming across was hostile maybe they were having a bad night at work or something who knows but I’ve heard a few other stories from people that supposedly had won money and for whatever bullshit reason have walked out with nothing I know they weren’t cheats. If the people in this country would take a break from gambling for one week to send a message I think the message would be heard loud and clear, start playing fair or piss off there’s a difference between rigging the system so that you were going to win the majority of the time and doing everything but sticking a gun in their face and robbing them and that’s the level that some of these casinos are at but no matter what the reputation your addicts will always go there just thinking they’re going to score
Casinos like giving away money, as long as they're certain everything was above board. It motivates people to keep coming. They don't care about giving away money. They're mathematically guaranteed to make more as long as they run their business properly
