I've been trying to use Reaper as the only free trial Full DAW I knew of for 887 days (which Reaper is sure to remind me). Years I could've spent making music in all my spare time trying to fix this issue. Actually my first problem was way too much input latency (which I only know now) so I eventually figured out I should get ASIO. Then it sounded like I was recording through a wet potato. But thank You, whoever told me to try ASIO. And thank you to Reaper for not making me pay before I figured all this stuff out!
Hmmm that may mean that there’s only one setting for the Bluetooth headphones. Probably because they’re not going through any hardware on your computer? I’m not 100% sure but sorry the solution isn’t working :/ You can try changing the settings on your default recording device to try to get them to match!
Hmmm, good question. In Reaper, is the audio devices window trying to set the sample rate as something different? Sorry it's hard to ask that question without a visual. But if Reaper is requesting 48000 sample rate, and your audio device only has 44100, you'll get the same issue.
I know this might be a stupid question, but what can be done if the recording was actually made at different bit depth and different sample rate. The recording sounds exactly as your example when sounded distorted. Is there a way this can be reverted digitally?
It's not a stupid question! Thanks for asking :) If it's 'baked in' there's little you can do to change it. If it's only periodic clicks, you might be able to save it with some audio repair. If it's sounding as bad as the example, you probably can't repair it. BUT I'd want to confirm that it's actually recorded that way and not just playing back that way. You can check by: - Exporting the file from Reaper - Playing the file using your built-in media player for your computer. What's happening in Reaper is usually that the playback is messed up, but the recording is usually okay. Hope that helps!
@@ReaperTutorials thank you for answering back! And thank you for the ideas, I tried to export the file and listening outside Reaper, as you advised, but it sounds still the same :( and yes it is as bad as the example in your video. I think I might need to record it all again :( thanks!
@@luisp.alonso dang :( unfortunately yeah that’s probably the case. You can test out whether it’s being weird by turning record monitoring ON for the track you’re recording and listening in real-time, if it’s glitchy and messed up when you monitor that track, it will be glitchy when you record! Good way to check without having to actually record anything in!
@@ReaperTutorials totally! :( it was an amateur mistake from my side. But I’ll learn! Thank you for your video, it helped me to understand what happened!
Hi Joshua! I don’t have a tutorial for this issue on mac, unfortunately. I remember some people having issues with it and we tried increasing the buffer size via Reaper’s audio device settings or something (I can’t remember if that’s what the menu is called on Mac). I wish I could be more helpful there, but since I don’t have a Mac in front of me, I can only throw out some possible things to try
Oooo the shared mode thing could be because there's a mismatch between your hardware settings and what your computer is requesting. If you're on windows, you'd go into that same settings area and just try to match the sample rate and bit depth to what you see in Reaper. Otherwise, if you have ASIO as an option, try that. Sorry hard to help without seeing the problem directly, but happy to keep troubleshooting. Sorry for the delay!
@@ReaperTutorials hello! Thank you! My problem was so easy and I wasn't seeing it. I needed just to allow Reaper to use my microphone in my laptop settings. 😅 That makes sense
Hmmm might be some answers in the comments here. Otherwise it might be time to head to the Reaper forums and share some screenshots. Happy to try to help if you let me know what you have tried so far!
U have saved me years of headaches and frustrations 🙏.....thank you so much
Of course! Really glad I could get you back to making music!
THANK YOU! I've been losing my mind over this!
Absolutely! It's definitely a frustrating problem, so glad this was helpful and you have found your mind again :)

God bless you, Kind Sir! Thank you
Eyyy yeah there can be a couple problems that come with your settings not matching, so glad this solved it for you!
Brilliant . This has been doing my head in.
Yeah it’s a huge blocker to getting creative - hope you can get back to the music making :)
Thank u mate!!! wonderful solution!
What happens when it's greyed out? I can't change it on my bluetooth earphones.

What if it's disabled and I can't change that frequency

@@luisp.alonso it happens! Thankfully it usually only takes one or two times making those mistakes for you to never make them again :)

Thanks Joshua! My new studio is set up finally so I think it's time to make some more tutorials :)
