    Having lived and worked in East and West Sussex, I can declare this county to be the finest in England.

    Stunning images, beautiful words and music. Great production as expected from Dan Parkes. It makes me missing East Sussex and the 10 years I lived there so much! Such a great film to watch anytime

    A very fine tribute to the land that we call home. The many natural beauties we explore and that inspire us. I hope we respect and protect that land. So that people after us can be in awe of the spleandour that surrounds us, in Sussex-by-the-Sea!

    Marvellous celebration of a wonderful county. So beautiful. BUT, however great the images and the quality of the production, this is a celebration of EAST Sussex only. Some of the images were rather repeating each other, when a view of Goodwood racecourse, the Trundle, Kingley Vale and many others would have rounded this exploration of a beautiful county in its totality. So, how about another featuring West Sussex with its beauty..

    A wonderful county, but you wouldn't know it from the video, allowing for the good filming. I guess someone just loved the area between Rottingdean and Seven Sisters and said stuff the rest of the counties coastline. East Sussex has some 70 odd miles of coastline, but all the video was based on a 10 miles section. Brighton, Eastbourne, Bexhill, Hastings, Rye, Camber, marshland, sand dunes, so, so, so, much missed.

      Perhaps you missed the part in the video description which reads "explores the East Sussex coastline between Roedean and Beachy Head"?

      And no, I definitely did not say "stuff the rest of the counties coastline". It was a self-imposed restriction based on the filming brief, specifically because Kipling first lived in Rottingdean and most of what he described in his poem at the time is along this particular stretch of coast. I definitely wanted to exclude Brighton and Eastbourne as that would be too modern and cliché to include.

      Mumm, I suspect you missed the under tow of the original poem then. How varied East Sussex coast is, is key to the whole thing. The juxtaposition of having seven sisters as well as shingle/sand beaches, desert, protected marshlands and bird sanctuaries. Pity, as it was great filming and editing though.

      @@jumpferjoy1st No, it is quite simple really. Kipling first fell in love with Sussex in Rottingdean village at the time when he wrote this poem. Hence this film is about that particular coastline, in between but not including Brighton and Eastbourne. It is a deliberate, artistic decision. The same type of decision as Kipling made when he inaccurately but intentionally described "Piddinghoe’s
      begilded dolphin" when in reality the weathervane is not a dolphin, but a salmon fish.

      I noticed this too. What's interesting to me, is that where I accepted the choices and enjoyed the video, you made a comment which assumes you're educating others on what is actually obvious. I love my Sussex coast land in a way that doesn't lead me to pompously assume the right to tell others how to celebrate it. I'd recommend to you a truer heart.

    Smart video…. but, disappointingly ‘wrong title’…. EAST SUSSEX by the Sea.
    So, so much more to celebrate in Sussex - even if this linked to the Kipling’s poem.

    • @parkesproductions
      @parkesproductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Fred. Sorry to hear you are disappointed. Although the video is more than "linked" to Kipling's poem, it is based upon it along with a brief to explore the Sussex coastline solely between Roedean and Beachy Head by drone, without venturing further inland (although one exception being the Long Man). But you are correct that there is so much more to celebrate in Sussex. If we were creating a video about the whole of Sussex the problem would be where to start and finish, what to include and not include? And can it all be achieved legally by drone? The scope would be huge and very challenging to achieve.

      @@parkesproductions It was really lovely still but I think some of the weald would look incredible, as would some of the villages and of course ashdown forest
