Why beer is getting so expensive

  • Beer is the most popular alcoholic beverage in the world, a standing that has been boosted by the drink’s relative affordability compared to cocktails or wine at a bar. Yet everyone from multinational brewers to small craft beer companies to pub chains has been warning about the beverage’s inevitable price increase.

@@CNBCi an often overlooked ingredient in beer, CO2 is also in short supply right now. CO2 occurs naturally in the process but most smaller breweries don't recapture and will "bleed" CO2 from fermentors during production. Once they are ready to package they will transfer to a Brite tank and reintroduce CO2.

It wouldve been nice to have some relativation regarding the increase in price of a beer from 2008. It is easy to forget that that is in fact 14 years ago now. How does the inflation of beer prices in 2022, and possibly even 2021 in order to account for the war, compare to other products or commodities?

Looks like more people need to start Home Brewing! Some upfront costs but long term, you could easily brew cheap or expensive beer, but that would be your choice and personal taste preferences. Most people drink cheap beer at bars and pubs while the more expensive beers in pubs usually have a lower margin but not always.

The more a business relies on external supplies and services, the less control and forced pricing upwards that the firm must endure. A company with little interaction with processes outside of its internal operations means it can withstand massive inflation and deflation forces for a long time. Global supply chains were never going to sustain minimal fluctuation of costs in the long term, because of potential interruptions and competitive challenges both domestically and internationally for any business.

You got upset that beer prices rose. What do you do when you're upset? You guessed it: Drink Beer.
That is why these manufacturers are not worried. Because you do not have an alternative to cope with stress other than to chug their product.
Want to stop this madness? Find an alternative to Beer. I would say face your problems head on without getting stressed but if you can do that, Beer wouldn't be an option so sucks for you.
P.S. If you're a UK citizen, you have to find that alternative a little bit faster. There's one woman that's gonna cause you a lot of headaches and her name is PM Liz Truss. And I am telling you, it's not gonna get better so you will drink up if you are not careful.
