We need to change how cars are sold so that consumers can buy vehicles from he manufacturers. Tesla does this so why cant the others? Dealerships are unnecessary middle men who only add to the cost of the vehicle and harm the consumer with bad sales practices

I’ve audited large car dealerships and you wouldn’t buy another vehicle from a dealership if you saw the amount of money most of the employees make, which the consumer is no doubt paying for. For example, the F&I people can easily make $250k a year. Service Techs? $100k!

I never look at the fees. I tell the dealer what I will pay out the door for the vehicle and inform them it is their job to make their price sheet come to that price. How they want to code it I do not care as long as the bottom number (with taxes and licensing) matches what I told them I would pay. If they can't do that I walk.

I had a couple of dealerships try their bullshit add-ons with me. It didn't work for them. My favorite was their "spartan recovery system," which was basically a knockoff of LoJack. I told them to take it off as it was redundant. If course the salesman was trying hard to push it, even the sales manager pushed it. I brought them to the vehicle, we sat inside, and i had them turn it on. Then, I pressed the OnStar button and brought it up on the infotainment system. They just looked at me, and i said, "Ya'll realize you're a GM/Chevy dealership, right? And OnStar is standard in all of their vehicles".... Yeah, I walked after I made them look stupid. My girlfriend at the time started laughing at them, and I drove away. They thought that because I drove 2.5 hours to see the truck, I would give into their bullshit. WRONG!

Apparently they charge customers for parking your vehicle INSIDE the shop overnight. After arguing with the owner and threatening to print a huge picture of the receipt to post on truck for a local truck show he removed the fee. The shop only lasted 1 year in business after the owner was arrested for stealing and swapping parts of customers cars.

Our local dealerships (Southern Nevada)charge for dealer add ons like door edge guard, door handle anti scratch appliqué , window tint, for $1200 to $1800. It seems all the dealerships are charging for this and would rather not sell you the car than remove that charge. I spoke with another dealer who had a vehicle en route that hasn’t even reached the dealer, and said it was still a mandatory add on once it arrived. Very frustrating. By the way if you want a better deal and this from a car dealer I know from years ago, if you are not in a rush wait for bad weather rain snow and go then especially if it is not a 4wd, they get desperate and will come down on price. Cars do not sell in bad weather as fast as a nice sunny day. They also have to pay interest on lot cars they try to charge more for them so order what you want and wait the month and you will get probably the options you want and not what you get stuck with.Every option has a high price tag. And sell of give away your trade in because I was offered $500 and sold it 2 days later for 2500.

There are a couple of dealers I've dealt with more than once. They know better now. I get fantastic pricing from the start. It saves time.

Yeah actually I agree with most of that from a 30-year car sales and finance manager. Our doc fee was usually no more than $35, and that was because we had to pay people to go physically to the DMV and handle a lot of stuff you can only do so much stuff online, and if there is any discrepancy the DMV notices again we have to go back to the DMV to fix it for you. So unless you'd rather go to the DMV two times then don't pay the doc fee. Now the places that are charging over 100.00 is ridiculous. But there is only so much profit in a vehicle and everything else we have to do comes off that. If you don't want to go out and find your own financing and I've got to do all your work for you and then I'm going to charge. But remember on some of these fees if you charge them to one person which you can do you have to charge them to every single person, and they can't be deleted from any contact.

Selling price vs out the door cost are two different things, nimrod. What are you just not going to pay tax? Do you want dealers to advertise the out the door cost? Well too bad because everyone gets a different out the door cost. You may live in a county that has 6% tax and Joe Shmo lives in a county with 9%. Imbecile.

@carEdge hey man so me and my girlfriend went to buy a used car (2014 Chevy Malibu ls)she had totaled her other car so we really needed a vehicle that was reliable and cheap so we ended up getting this vehicle for $15k but after all the bs it was $18k the down payment was $1800 and payments of $560 and I told her it was such a bad idea but she really liked the vehicle and needed it so I was like why not we’ll now 2 years later we’ve tried to refinance a total of 7 times and no one will because the car is underwater. Also a couple months after we got the car it started having mechanical problems which was $500 to fix and currently we are looking to get rid of that car but it feels like we can’t 😴love the videos man❗️

Unfortunately you are not correct. When you purchase an actual car, you can see the freight charge on the sticker of the vehicle. On the Powersports side there is no sticker. The MSRP does not include freight. And the dealership does pay the extra to the manufacturer for freight. Now, it is not $2000, but there is a charge. Now when it comes to prep charge, the unit does not come completely assembled. Being a Slingshot, it does not have too much not installed but still does not come completely assembled. So there is a charge for vehicle prep. The price is high but there is still some cost on that.

When I bought my Honda civic 2011 dealer had a gas fee.. they said the only way they could take that off was if they only gave you 1/4 of gas instead of a full tank.. yes I told them I would pay for my own gas not this made up fee.

You should NEVER pay freight or prep on a new CAR. This is a Slingshot that is actually considered a motorcycle NOT a car. Motorcycle dealership do break these fees out this way (it's BS). Again, brother you do great work, but you need to more precise with your information.

If I sell all that crap on the price, I would just tell him keep it all on there just drop down the price of the car buy that much. Always going to these places in a position of strength when you can just walk out on them. The best thing to do is make them work for hours upon hours and then just start walking out like you’re getting in your car it scares the crap out of them.

What about Market Value Mark Up, just a phony charge they put on back in the 80s that is just another way of saying if you want this car we will charge you more. Had this happen at a Honda dealer in 86 $4000 on an ACCORD and told her buy a Mustang it is out the door price without. Since she loved her old one $5000 cheaper 2/3 of the price.. Bullshit charges are what they are making money on.

Slow down on the Freight and Dealer Prep Fee's, speaking from the marine, freight is not included in MSRP and is a line item just like that on the PA sure it's 'negotiable' but only in as much as a dealer we can only discount the product so much, Dealer Prep is also not reimbursed by the manufacturer, and that is not a bogus fee as it takes a tech multiple hours to prep and lake test a boat delivered from factory.
