To be fair, it is a lot easier to get discounts on some cars than it used to be. I wish we could return to the days of a 25k Camry, but those days seem long gone sadly.

You can get pretty good deals on most NEW cars today! And some brands like Stellantis, you can get outrageously good deals (some even better than pre-pandemic).
It is only a couple of brands like TOYOTA and HONDA that are still trying to screw over the customer! 🙄 ……but mark my words, they cannot do this forever. They can get away with this (FOR NOW) because of their “quality and reliability” and many people will only buy these brands.
But eventually some of these people will realize that it is still much cheaper to buy another brand with a 10-year/100K bumper to bumper extended warranty, to address the “reliability” question.

I think if ya look at the kart fee years . The incentives are going up. It's not usually like an instant drop in prices . Things are def getting rough for new vehicles selling. Due to high prices and interest rates mainly. Most people are maxed out in credit. Toninclude myself. So loans are hardervto get or at even higher than market prices. They are correct things are being discounted more this year then last few for sure

When inventory builds up at other brands and prices “crash”, Toyota and Honda will EVENTUALLY be forced lower prices too! Maybe not “crash”, but they will have to offer SIGNIFICANT discounts!
Why? Because, as they say, everyone has a price they will fall for! If the price differential between a comparable Honda/Toyota and another brand is great enough, SOME people will bite, and a “chain reaction” will result!
If you are getting a comparable VW Jetta for $6K less (real world price) than a Corolla, then there will be a good number of people that will switch, thereby building up Toyota’s inventory, forcing them, in turn, to offer discounts on the Corolla! Simple logic!

Toyota has earned that legendary reputation over decades. While many manufacturers have gotten better with their reliability, they can't touch Toyota's reputation because it was built over such a long time with successive CEOs continuing along that same path (The Toyota Way). It's not something you can easily copy, you have to put in the work, the time, and resources. It means changing the whole culture of a company, which is not easy, especially after leadership changes.

Did everything right - negotiating online for a new Chevrolet - got the price quoted on the window sticker, was able to get them to remove the fake "add-ons", got what I asked for my trade-in (KBB trade-in value), and at the very end of the transaction - after the OTD price was spot-on... they asked me "how will you be paying for this" - I thought since we've negotiated everything down to the agreeable OTD price - I have to tell them how I am paying, right? I said "cash" - silence online for 5 minutes - then the text: "I'm so sorry sir, I just found out the vehicle you want has just been sold". Then "would you like to deal on another?". Man... I almost had it... Wasn't expecting the salesman's crafty lie 🤨🤔

Question, you guys predicted that many car dealers would go out of business due to the cars being hard to sell due the higher prices and the dealers having to pay the interest on cars for sometimes a year or two, so do we know about how many car dealers went bust in the past 2 years???? I cannot understand how these dealers can pay for inventory that sits over a year then have to deep discount it to sell it????? Stellantis has 2023,2024, and 2025 NEW cars, mainly Ram trucks in the dealers lots, and you guys know that this is unheard of. It used to be very uncommon to see last years vehicle on a dealer lot much into the first quarter of the current year not so long ago, now we see 3 new years worth of models sitting on lots. Something has to give. I don't think prices are going be discounted that much. A 3 year old truck that might be discounted even 15-20K, will have more than that in depreciation before it is driven off the lot, people don't go for that, at least the smart ones don't. A car sitting on a lot out in the weather for more than 9 months is NOT a "new" car.

course its not like dealers didnt have a hand in this debacle. they added market adjustment (could be as much as the vehicles MSRP) and they add on so much others costs (nitrogen in tires, extended warranty, etc, etc) and off these were mandatory wouldnt sell the vehicle without them. so dealers have a big hand in how sales turn out now!
