This was an incredible film. For me, it carries two main messages; the dangers frontline journalists often face and the path the US could be heading down if moderate voices do not prevail
Civil War is not out of the question in the future if Americans continue to act like children in politics. American politics can be summarized as such: "If I can't have my way, then nobody can have their way"
Politicians have no incentive to compromise since the savage tribalism of their supporters would promptly get rid of them if they tried. US society and politics has become a zero sum game and that will lead to ever-worsening conflict.
As a foreign student observing your politics, I worry about America. It feels like the end of the Heian period, just before the outbreak of the Genpei War
It's not as much that people are acting like children, you simply have people seeking power. For one side it's a collective power (where there will of course be a privileged few) and the other side it's mainly the power of personal liberty/choice. In many ways this story has played out hundreds and thousands of times through history on small to large scales. The difference is it's happening in a place where people thought they were "better than that". Whoops.

Watched the movie in cinema yesterday. Unfortunately, it does not feel like an anti-war movie. Yes, the movie shows atrocities of war, but for most of these scenes the viewer had no time to connect to the victims. Most of the times, the movie feels like an action flick that fails to portray how devastating civil war would be to America.
This scene alone shows me how the director has no idea of a sniper dual looks like. Nice platinum target laying out on the lawn, with his spotter piggybacking on his shoulder. As Shorsey would say "so dumb".
Bit of a weird subject for this series, no? At least this scene is - Garland doesn't seem to have anything to say about it. He didn't even write the symbology into the script - it was happenstance. This feels like a sponsored bit.
Not everything has to be deeper than what it is. This is all about uneasy alliances, unknown actors in armed conflicts with dubious intentions. The soldiers they meet are nondescript beyond the fatigues, who are they? Who is their unit fighting for? Who is the guy shooting at them and why? Nobody knows. The larger factions such as the “WF” and the “FA” don’t seem to be in direct conflict but smaller splintered factions within their territories do. This scene perfectly encapsulates the fog of war.
Yeah, and Garland is a bit of hack. Number one, he’s British. The fact that he is and making a movie about an American civil war irks me somehow. Ex-Machina was a good movie, but Annihilation was just god awful. Think I’ll skip seeing this in the theater and wait for it on streaming.
About 30 years ago 100 soldiers parachuted out of a plane over my car in the desert. We were captured and detained. I just want to also point out that my situation was heightened by six different languages being shouted in fear and anger at the same time. The powerpoint is mightier than the sword.
No. But all the troops were female and they had small machine guns. And they wanted me to say a word in their language and I could not, under that pressure, remember a single word in any language.

This is the only place I've seen anyone say anything positive about the movie. Most say its direction less and confusing
A sniper with bleached blond hair? No hat or hood to cover that up with ?
The sound from the shot arrives faster than the bullet? 😅
I saw this movie yesterday. (Chef’s kiss) wonderful flick
Ohh joy..non combatants bracketing the sniper team..way to go
Watched the movie in cinema yesterday. Unfortunately, it does not feel like an anti-war movie. Yes, the movie shows atrocities of war, but for most of these scenes the viewer had no time to connect to the victims. Most of the times, the movie feels like an action flick that fails to portray how devastating civil war would be to America.
This movie is a tease, to what real civil unrest will be, when the dollar collapses...
This scene alone shows me how the director has no idea of a sniper dual looks like. Nice platinum target laying out on the lawn, with his spotter piggybacking on his shoulder. As Shorsey would say "so dumb".
Smart way of filming, using stuff That is already there.
Watch this movie
Can't believe I've been watching this series for 10 years.
The shot of the sniper with his rifle looks like the quickplay screen in mwII
God help us
We are close to a civil war
Or Christmas in a southern climate. Here in south Texas it’s hot like summer in December
just like what Hillary experienced in Yugoslavia, that brave woman
And she did it for us!!

@@KonaLifehow can you criticize a film you haven’t seen?
@@Hack_The_Planet_hurt his fragile feelings
@@Hack_The_Planet_ And the reasons he uses to justify hating the movie make no sense.
We ran out of money so we said, let’s just shot it here.
The Christmas imagery is a nice touch.
Why spiderman left his Girlfriend in civil war?
at 2:31 you can see the lens cap was still on.... lol.... i noticed that when i went to see the movie as well.
I believe it’s thin fabric to prevent the glint of the glass in the light
Yup, fabric to prevent lense flair
It may yet come to this
“Why are they tip to butt?” **sees painted fingernails** “oooohhhhh”
More like soldiers that are constantly in life or death situations realise how ridiculous and pointless homophobic ideas are.
@@sorryitsmoopsno, @Kalbee had it right.
About 30 years ago 100 soldiers parachuted out of a plane over my car in the desert. We were captured and detained. I just want to also point out that my situation was heightened by six different languages being shouted in fear and anger at the same time. The powerpoint is mightier than the sword.
Where was this Iraq?
No. But all the troops were female and they had small machine guns. And they wanted me to say a word in their language and I could not, under that pressure, remember a single word in any language.
Wait where?
female paratroopers, 30 years ago, and you didn't hear the whistling as they approached the ground?
Lay off the crack, hombre.
2:29 The spotter's cover is still on. Come on guys. Great movie otherwise.
I thought it was a ant-reflective cover made out of a stocking. We would make ones out of camo mesh.
