For a rifle that has ambi features already, the ambi charging handle probably should've been included but I get that's a niche. What definitely should've been included out of the factory is the handguard with m-lok and heat relief slots through the length of the handguard. I realize all handguards get hot but the factory metal handguard gets hot after about 4 mags. I just added the 15" handguard with the extra slots and it's tolerable for a few extra mags. Otherwise that's what I wear gloves for or I use the forward grip I installed. Great rifle aside from the handguard out of the factory. I got mine about 2 years ago and have about 3K rds though it. No failures.
@@x21blaze21x That's odd. It chamber for 5.56 so it should be compatible with .223 as well. I'd check with Sigs customer service. Might have to return it or see it the place you bought it from has gunsmithing service and maybe they'll look it over.
Love the M400, but I wish the MLOK handguard that comes on it had slots all the way back to the receiver like the 15" version he showed. The handguard that comes on the rifle out of the box becomes one hot sonofabitch after a couple mags have been run through it. Still love the rifle.
Completely agree. I broke down and got the 15" handguard shown in this video and it does help reduce heat build up BUT it should've come with the rifle in the first place. It's my one gripe about an otherwise fine firearm.
I like this concept because I’m a busy guy and don’t want to sit around and waste time researching a billion accessories from a billion manufacturers and whether they’ll work with my AR. If I want an accessory I can just buy it from SIG and know it’ll work. The tread is the busy man’s AR.

Honestly same with most of their products. If you look at CZ vs Sig P226...how does CZ manage to build all their guns in Czech and ship it to US and still come out to be cheaper than Sig? However...comes with its benefits...Sigs are really well made and they consider the whole shooting package rather than just the gun. Holsters and sights are infinitely easier to find on a sig than a cz...
AR's are like Harley's.....accessories make it and that cost, but do or don't it's up to you. So not really nickel and dime, when every manufacture does it.
Hey SIG, why could't you just sale the M400 with the upgrade 15" hand guard right out of the box? the hand guard that comes with this rifle is useless because it gets too hot with rapid fire and you can't attach a handle closer to the receiver. Please be more considered with your costumers, don't hate us.
I love Sig but the seem to have switched to a maximization of profits strategy while completely abandoning the quality aspect across many of their firearms. I have a Sig m400 Thread (barrel along with upper and lower receivers are great) but the hand-guard is a POS.

I like the tread because it's for dummies!! My son and I can teach others on it!! I plan on getting two and we can teach new people on it. Then if they want they can move on. While teaching newbies the well marked parts are easily remembered for most people. So when and hopefully they move on it will translate easily. I have found when my son and I are training someone new that it has cut their time in half learning the components. It's also a good shooter which is where we start. I've found that as we let them shoot they aren't as afraid to ask questions because they realize it's a training tool. Kind of like a hands on simulator. But it's not for everyone, I'd have know problem taking it to a fight even with someone who is fairly new. We have two of them along with others. My if needed for rough and ready is a BCM build and a Wilson Combat 300 hammer which is awesome!! Wilson Combat is coming out with 3 new AR rifles and pistol AR. Have a great day!! Rich

Shame on Sig for not including the ambidextrous charging handles with the Tread rifles, I hate the tiny shitty charging handles that come on the Treads rifles right out of the factory, might as well send them without charging handles. They just want to rip us off with their proprietary parts.

Those are Troy sights. Why make the 13" rail Lighter than the 11.5? You're making a good rifle 'but' forcing folks to upgrade to make a better gun. Charge 50-60 more and do it right the first time.
K1NG4uStiN yes you can. It's just a matter of changing the proprietary barrel nut on it. But a lot of new handguards come with a new barrel nut so that's problem solved. If it doesn't be sure to order one if and when you would do the changrout. Other than that everything else easily changes part for part.

I’m new to Sig Sauer and I just bought myself an Sig M400 Tread! I’m thinking about buying a Romeo 5 for it but I want flip up sights too and wonder if you can equip both on it and possibly use them to co-witness with the Romeo 5?
I bought the Romeo 5 red dot and I also bought the iron flip up sights, the Tread version, but to co-witness you have to make sure it includes the front picatinny rail extension to align properly so it’ll co-witness. I’m very happy I bought them both and I really love how they co-witness! Now I’m looking to purchase a Juliette 3 or 4 possibly so I can really make my optics a complete package and really dial in on those long range shots at the range!
Do NOT be fooled with the Tread Iron Sights! I ordered them, didn't work (front post too high), called Sig & they told me "the M400 was NOT designed for iron sights"! I told them about this video, and its claim, and they changed the subject to offering a return label for my troubles. Sig, u can do better!!
Yea I’m a little pissed. I got the tread “pistol” and the gass block and tube are in the way for mounting anything. And yea it’s been a nightmare trying to find and figure out how to get a thin Small Picatinny rail short enough and thin enough so the gas block is not in the way so the front sight doesn’t sit so high. I’m worried about finding an aftermarket hand guard now LOL it Damn sure want be a sig hand guard they did all this s&@t on purpose too. Dirty marketing. They planned all this in board room. I was a fan but they went out of their way to do this and you don’t know until you’ve bought it and have the time to really check it out.
The handguard is made for their proprietary barrel nut. If I were you I’d take it to a shop and get them to take it off and get a bcm or geissele handguard so you have a milspec barrel nut and a handguard that won’t get hot after 2 mags
I'm looking for this rifle on gunbroker and I notice that some sellers have the "TREAD" symbol on the side of the hand guard and some do not, yet they're all listing it as SKU RM400-16B-TRD. Is this a detachable plate that comes with the rifle, or is there some other explanation for this variation?
@@jroczx10 Thanks for the reply. I ordered one, and just picked it up today. It came with three of these stickered plates (overkill for sure). It's not a paper sticker, more like a rubber mat with adhesive on it, stuck to a plastic plate. They were also far more yellow than I expected (in many of the pictures they look more orange). Now that I've seen them, I think I'll be removing them. I don't think it looks as good in person (which is probably why so many dealers don't show them in their pictures...)

You should be able too with the fore grips and the sights/ iron sights. But not as far as the muzzle break and compensator are concerned that would depend on if your MPX barrel is threaded and the thread.
Why Couldn't Sell a Barrel nut wrench for this? Or may sell this tread with a 15 inch full picatinny rail. We Support you SIG but don't make your Consumers feels inferior for using your products.
If you buy a replacement handguard, it includes a new barrel nut and the wrench for $150. They’re assuming you’ll have no need to take it off, I guess, unless you plan to swap for another guard.

The 15” handrail does NOT just slide back on. You have to pull the gas block and barrel. Not cool

Correct. If you’re coming from a tread m400 rifle, just remove the screws, swap, and replace as he says. Just did mine tonight.
Romeo 5 is not motion censored! Wby does every sig review I watch say it is! I have the Romeo 5 it has to be manually turned off and on.
Mine shuts off by itself, so I’m not sure what you’re experiencing. And I have 3 of them.
Can those yellow inserts come off the hand guard?
yes they pop off. it was the first thing i removed when i bought mine

I’m new to Sig Sauer and I just bought myself an Sig M400 Tread! I’m thinking about buying a Romeo 5 for it but I want flip up sights too and wonder if you can equip both on it and possibly use them to co-witness with the Romeo 5?

I bought the Romeo 5 red dot and I also bought the iron flip up sights, the Tread version, but to co-witness you have to make sure it includes the front picatinny rail extension to align properly so it’ll co-witness. I’m very happy I bought them both and I really love how they co-witness! Now I’m looking to purchase a Juliette 3 or 4 possibly so I can really make my optics a complete package and really dial in on those long range shots at the range!

Do NOT be fooled with the Tread Iron Sights! I ordered them, didn't work (front post too high), called Sig & they told me "the M400 was NOT designed for iron sights"! I told them about this video, and its claim, and they changed the subject to offering a return label for my troubles.

Make sure you get sigs rail i just went through same problem.
I had a magpul rail and it sits higher than the receiver rail which makes it shoot low.
Yea I’m a little pissed. I got the tread “pistol” and the gass block and tube are in the way for mounting anything. And yea it’s been a nightmare trying to find and figure out how to get a thin Small Picatinny rail short enough and thin enough so the gas block is not in the way so the front sight doesn’t sit so high. I’m worried about finding an aftermarket hand guard now LOL it Damn sure want be a sig hand guard they did all this s&@t on purpose too. Dirty marketing. They planned all this in board room. I was a fan but they went out of their way to do this and you don’t know until you’ve bought it and have the time to really check it out.

No, they told me that the M400 was designed NOT to use Iron sights!
Make sure to use sigs rail. Most rails sit higher than the upper receiver rail and causes to shoot low. I could only find on they're website

Yeah they're plastic inserts just pull them off.
Do I need to buy a new barrel nut when buying the sig 13” handguard or will it fit over the factory barrel nut?
The handguard is made for their proprietary barrel nut. If I were you I’d take it to a shop and get them to take it off and get a bcm or geissele handguard so you have a milspec barrel nut and a handguard that won’t get hot after 2 mags

What is the best laser light for the m400 tread pistol?

I'm looking for this rifle on gunbroker and I notice that some sellers have the "TREAD" symbol on the side of the hand guard and some do not, yet they're all listing it as SKU RM400-16B-TRD. Is this a detachable plate that comes with the rifle, or is there some other explanation for this variation?

@@jroczx10 Thanks for the reply. I ordered one, and just picked it up today. It came with three of these stickered plates (overkill for sure). It's not a paper sticker, more like a rubber mat with adhesive on it, stuck to a plastic plate. They were also far more yellow than I expected (in many of the pictures they look more orange). Now that I've seen them, I think I'll be removing them. I don't think it looks as good in person (which is probably why so many dealers don't show them in their pictures...)

You should be able too with the fore grips and the sights/ iron sights. But not as far as the muzzle break and compensator are concerned that would depend on if your MPX barrel is threaded and the thread.

Why Couldn't Sell a Barrel nut wrench for this? Or may sell this tread with a 15 inch full picatinny rail. We Support you SIG but don't make your Consumers feels inferior for using your products.
If you buy a replacement handguard, it includes a new barrel nut and the wrench for $150. They’re assuming you’ll have no need to take it off, I guess, unless you plan to swap for another guard.
Since Sig doesn’t have any of these accessories in stock to sell, does anyone know anyplace else that carries these that would have them in stock? Thanks

I love everything but the handguard is trash. The Upgraded ones are better but ehhh. I wish sig offered a Tread handguard with a Picatinny rail all the way across the top
Why not just install a 9 or 13 spot pic rail yourself

The iron sight setup is a horrible design and should be fixed.
Seriously, they have non-standard picatinny rail height (6.17mm) just to squeeze another $29 out of their customers, which want 3-rd party iron sights. I wish I stayed away from Sig USA.
