I'm a waivering liberal, and ive been unfriending people that are so called liberal. I'm getting sick of the ideological authoritarianism from the left.
It's not poisonous to be a liberal, be a liberal. That word needs to be reclaimed and that wont happen until those on the left who have dragged it through the mud for so long have been....lets say, properly scrutinized. If you have self-identified as "liberal" and are becoming alarmed at the emergence of an authoritarian and regressive left, know that you are part of an ever growing political demographic.
There are a lot of liberals out there who are genuine humanitarians, and are also realists who simply want to advocate for people who struggle. I have no issue with them. Its good to have your point of view challenged once in a while. The "social justice warriors" are the people I take issue with. Those who literally seek to oppress and police people in the name of political correctness. That leads us down a truly dangerous path. The beauty of our political system is in the way our constitution is designed. We are forced to work together and find compromise on issues that affect both ends of the political spectrum. We have began to lean waay too far to the left in the last decade, and that is why we are seeing so many social problems.
