    As can be seen from other posts, I think there is a design flaw in this filling valve which leads to a variety of issues. I'd like to hear if installers are aware of such a problem.

    Can frozen pipes prevent filling?
    I attempted to top my boiler up this morning as I have done before, but after a few seconds the water stopped and went silent. It was a cold night last night, so I am wondering whether the pipe may be frozen, or could the valve be broken??

      If your incoming pressure isn’t the best, say 1.5 bar for instance, then you can’t fill your system any higher than that

    Can pull my blue lever down but no water flows to top it up.
    It used to work as a plumber emptied system installed a new radiator then refilled and bled radiators
    In my manual it shows the lever pulled down to 90 degrees so erotically for topping up
    I can’t get the lever past about 60 degrees

    • @RhysMorgan2015
      @RhysMorgan2015 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can expect the pressure to rise a bit higher when the heating is on as water expands when heated. It should not be going too high (over 2 bar) though. If it does there might be a problem with your boiler.

      Mine's the same. I pulled it down hard and it started letting water in, then it wouldn't switch off fully until I tapped directly upwards using a hammer. Pressure by that time was way too high - getting up towards 3. I had to drain at least 2 pints to get it down. I think I'd like to remove this thing tbh.

    I hate this type of valve, they have a habit of getting stuck in the down position and needs to be pushed up manually. Very poor design.

      is "up" off ie no water filling?

    • @ThermionicValve
      @ThermionicValve 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, up position is off or closed. To pressure or full the radiator system you pull the leaver down and simply let go to stop. Sometimes it gets stuck and it keeps on filling resulting in too much pressure.

    • @kravdraa7
      @kravdraa7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've been looking for a similar answer. My boiler is less than 3 years old and has had the issue from day one.
      First, the operation of the lever differs from the manual, which suggests it should be able to go to 90' from its resting position. That appears to be misleading.
      Second, the ability to fill and the speed of it will likely depend upon the pressure differential between mains and boiler. Our mains pressure is not particularly high and our boiler is in the attic, so filling is more difficult anyway.
      Finally, I suspect that there is a common fault in these lever controlled valves, but Worcester won't acknowledge it. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Not good!

      @grveyardshft 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kravdraa7 Yeah mate its weird isnt it. Ours isnt very old at all either, probably around three years as well. I can remember doing it at one point and it working but the last couple of times ive tried, nothing.

      Mines a week old and already its saying low pressure, the blue switch does nothing at all

    • @kravdraa7
      @kravdraa7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@davidsalter4324 I have discovered a way to get some filling, which might help you.
      You need to temporarily 'jam' the valve open (I did this with a piece of foam lagging) and then repeatedly turn on and off another tap, on the same mains feed. I think a rapid turning off the tap may assist. I believe there is a slight and sudden increase in pressure just as you turn it off and that helps to push water into the system. Once you get it up to an acceptable level, you can return the lever to normal.
      I actually left mine open for a couple of days and this has been the only way to get my system filled!
