3:00 "it's probably quite easy to fabricate your own switch put it on an end of a bit of cable with a quarter inch plug going to there and then you've got your PTT." I just got through making up one of those. The soldering was a little tough because the pins on the 8-pin connectors are tiny, and also because I'm old (hi, hi). I also used a 3.5 mm jack instead of a quarter inch. The job took 5 hours and 15 minutes, tedious, but now I can use a foot switch with any 8-pin microphone.
Heil website use to have a section on there to show you where to put your audio settings on what type of mic you are using compared to what radio you are using. But I don't see it on there anymore.
If its for Icom go for the electet IC model, you can use the dynamic version with an adapter that addresses the voltage issue but you'll really struggle to get the TX audio as good as the stock mic. Btw the stock mic has a Heil element. I tried this adapter on a Heil micro pro I'd been using on a Yaesu, to get any sort of decent TX audio i had to run it hot with both mic gain and compression almost at max. Still couldn't get the audio as good as the stock mic.
How works this headset with CW? I'm cw enthusiastic so if it works fine for weak signal in dx and expecially with narrow band 50hz is always present a background blow. Thank you

I started getting waters and stanton videos in my feed recently, i’ve been really enjoying them.
New. Extra Class operator. Still learning. This was quite helpful. Thank you sir.
Used a foot switch constantly when running phone patches in the 80’s… easiest way to PTT as far as I am concerned 👍

What does Icom Recommend Electet or Dynamic??

I use a IC 7300
I want to know if my IC-7300 is compatible with the Heil PR-10 microphone, that I purchased without seeking advice beyond what salesman told me...?
Check this out - it should be OK once you get thecorrect interface lead. heilhamradio.com/support/dsp-settings/all-things-icom/. 73 Peter
Thank you for the information and I appreciate your immediate response, and all I can say is WOW! Thanks again...
I always get excellent reports using the stock mic on my 9700. What are the benefits of using an aftermarket mic please?
if you get excellent results then stick with what you have. The main reason for switching is to get the use of a headset. 73s Peter
It seems you forgot to show us where we plug in the PTT ?
I guess you thought it too obvious to bother.
Not to me, it isn't.
Am I missing something here, did you watch the entire video? The video clearly shows how to connect a PTT device, either finger or foot switched!!!
from 2:20
Stevie Wonder & Ray Charles could see it
What's this "double oh" language? How about "double zero"?? Better yet, how about "seventy three hundred"??
If it is good enough for double Oh Seven........ !
Merci!
Thanks
