- The Liver Shot Counter Punch. A Smart Way to Counter Punch Technique. Tom Yankello of the World Class Boxing Channel presents to you a method to counter punch the liver shot. Tom teaches you how setting up the liver shot hurt can effectively hurt your opponent. In this video you will learn the proper stance, hand placement and footwork that is needed to properly execute this pattern in a fight. Tom Yankello breaks down the how and the why for when you would do this pattern so that you know and understand how and when to effectively implement these moves. He provides you with real footage on how Canelo Alvarez used these moves in a fight against Liam Smith.

Coach Y - Thanks for clarifying that the liver shot can land either inside or outside your opponent’s elbow. There are a number of trainers that teach the liver shot must only be landed to the front or only to the side. The liver is the largest internal organ in the body and has depth. As such, it can be impacted by a blow from the front or from the side.

I think what you say about fundamentals was shown very clearly in Wilder/Fury 2. Fury is simply a better boxer with better technique, movement and basic punches like his lethal jab. Coming in fully prepared he exposed Wider's lack of diversity and ability to switch it up when needed. For a white guy 6'9' he moves like a gazelle. Great old school slips and moves.
Coach you always great and I learned a lot from your videos. But isn't this move bit dangerous? I see canelo was open for that jaw punch and if that guy was able hitting him harder it would possibly go down right?
Could you bait someone to left hook you if you over use right uppercut. But train it alot that it becomes reflex. And have a trainer train you at anytime to smack you for liver shot? Is this possible?
The video is showing how to bait with the uppercut to get the opponent to throw a left hook and counter with liver shot...you in turn can train for the opposite as soon as you see that uppercut counter with your own liver shot.
Can someone explain to me ( Or what it is called) having the lead shoulder higher in your boxing stance. Don’t see this in English amateurs and yet to meet a coach who utilises this
