This is pianist Anthony Burger, who played for the Kingsmen Quartet, as a solo artist, and with the Gaither Homecoming Tour. When little Anthony was 8 months old, he fell into a heating duct on the floor of his home and suffered third degree burns on his little face, legs, and hands. Doctors said he would likely never be able to move his hands in the future.
BUT GOD!!!
And when God showed UP, He showed OUT!!!
At the age of FIVE, Anthony was accepted to the Cadek Conservatory at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. As a child prodigy, he was playing classical piano repertoire within a few years. At the age of 14, he released his first album, playing the organ. In 1975, he recorded with The Celestials. In 1976, at the age of 16, he joined the Kingsmen Quartet and stayed with them until 1992 or 1993, when he left to pursue a solo career. He was voted favorite pianist for an unprecedented 10 years in the Singing News Fan Awards and, for a time, the award was named after him. In addition to other sideline projects, he also teamed up with the Gaither Homecoming Tour for about 80 dates per year. Ultimately, he went home to Heaven while in the middle of a performance with the Gaithers in 2006.
Anthony was known throughout his career of telling how God healed his hands and that playing the piano was his way of praising God.
THIS is the little baby boy who doctors said he would likely never be able to move his little burned hands. BUT GOD!!!

You never know what God can do for you - if you allow him to. The problem is letting go and allowing him to.
There are a lot of great pianists that have come and gone and many are still with us today, but none of them can top Anthony. In my opinion he is the best I have ever heard. He could play any style in any era of time, blues, classical, country, southern gospel,... And not only could he play any style you could name, he had perfected it. He definitely had a God given talent and gift that’s been unmatched anywhere.

It's like his mortal body could barely contain his joy and intense desire to worship in that moment.
He did all that without sheet music in front of him, WOW!!! What an incredible pianist he was.
I don't think there is sheet music for the style and talent that Anthony exhibits, purely God inspired.
He knows the notes and music so well because he is good, intelligent, full of Godly love and has played it hundreds of times! Yes I play the piano. Lol! Not like Anthony Berger did though😊!

He sleeps in the grave until Christ returns (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) but what a glorious Gaither Reunion it will be in Heaven when Anthony Burger, with the gift of eternal youth, plays upon the celestial piano. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
Surely. The day that the Lord called Anthony home was the day He needed his greatest pianist for the angelic choir.
Anthony Burger was one of the very few that actually worshiped God as he played. Now he plays for his Master in God's Heavenly Orchestra.

Anthony is with the Lord He desired to exalt. He and others helped lift my spirit in the weeks and months following my first wife's homegoing. She was a pianist-musician too, and she loved this music. Thank you, God, for technology that allows some of your servants to minister years after they have gone to live with you.

I can’t get enough of him playing. I am seventy six the very best I have ever heard. Watching him playing is outstanding. What a loss but we were blessed to see and hear him.

"Towards the end of her life, I told my dear Mother that she would be singing the Hallelujah chorus in Heaven this year. I also said "Every time I hear it this Christmas I will think of your soaring voice singing with the celestial choir." She smiled.
I heard this version of the Hallelujah chorus today and wept...tears of sadness intermingled with tears of joy.

Anthony Burger was chosen by God to entertain us with his wonderful piano playing. It is sad for us that he is no longer with us but thanks to technology we can still enjoy his playing and his witnessing. One of God’s most faithful servants. What a remarkable talent he was given by God. God bless his family and thank you we got to know him through his wonderful piano playing. Amen

I wish someone could explain why Anthony Burger was taken from us so soon. God could have created any number of pianists just as talented, but for some reason we were given a taste of that amazing God given talent then it was taken from us.

I was blessed with Dad being the Former Fiji School of Medicine of Fiji Methodist Chapel Choir from 1953--1959. He introduced me to Classical Music, Opera Music & Protestant Classical Hymns at Birth till I was singing it Fluently at 3 years old. He introduced Handle's Messiah Music especially The HALLELUJAH CHORUS MUSIC @ 4-5 Years Old. From watching the HALLELUJAH CHORUS, I prayed to God that I would love to join A Choir to Praise God with this KINGDOM OF GOD ANTHEM of the Saints Saved By GOD'S GRACE through Jesus & Jesus Alone.
Though I never became Choir Conductor like my Dad, all the Protestant Classical Hymns Music he taught me from birth till 12 years old then took a brake for 2 years then continued from my 14 years old till 15, paid off when I joined The Fiji High School International Choir # 16 years old, and our Opening & Closing Item was HANDLE'S MESSIAH!
THIS WAS AND STILL IS THE APEX OF MY LIFE EXPERIENCE, Imagine Praising my ABBA FATHER & HIS SON THE LORD GOD CREATOR JESUS CHRIST [JOHN 1:1-30] & HIS HOLY GHOST THE COMFORTER NY SURETY OF ETERNAL LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST.
I joined Queen Victoria School of Fiji for 2 years but they did not offer these 2 Majors anymore, no Shakespeare Plays, no Music class, so I left QVS as it's top Student for 2 Suva City Schools.
So under the Late Master Bola , I joined The Fiji Secondary Schools International Choir with it's Mini Orchestra with the One Week Opera 2-3 hours a night based on the Broadway on Jews IN Russia called as"ANATEVKA" you can watch Popular International that BROADWAY MUSICAL ON TH-cam Channel.
It was a pity I Never recorded our Rendition of that Broadway. After 1 year with Master Bola, I attended another School which happens to have Fiji's Renowned I-Taukei Music Teacher Master Eremasi Tamanisau teaching both Youth at NTC & NSS so I was his Private student for we Pure Science students could not take Music, but only Pure Arts students, I was blessed that I was his private student.
So now that is my history of LOVING CLASSICAL HYMNS MUSICS & CLASSICAL MUSICIANS & PROTESTANT CLASSICAL MUSICIANS as well.
Soon we shall see Him and sing this to Him as he Returns to Earth to claim us as His Own !! My mother loved singing the Messiah and this piece was her favorite to perform ! She was an AMAZING soprano ! I can pray that she is right now in Heaven singing this with all the Angels !

There are seriously angels singing on this. At the end I hear like 10,000 singers, and the way it pulls you into that kind of "hype" feeling that this is all you want to do forever, and it's like your battery is plugged into a recharger, and you keep getting zapped with God juice. Wait a minute. Their people aren't singing. It must be a recording.
I SO ENVY this pianist's version of the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's "Messiah." This is ONE REAL TIME I wish I HAD FINGERS so I could learn to play this EXQUISITELY!! Anthony Burger is NOW Heaven's Pianist!
Me and my dad met him in January of 2001 at a Gaither concert in Louisville, Ky. He was a very nice and we told him we appreciated everything did.
WHAT AN AMAZING TALENT. GOD BLESSED HIM AND THEN TOOK HIM HOME TO PLAY FOR HIM.

Blessed be the Lord God that He shared Anthony with us even for a short while - thankfully during the age of Audio Recordings and of Video/Audio Recordings, that we do at least still have this Pale Shade remaining to give us comfort and encouragement in our One True Lord God our One True Creator our One True Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus His Only Begotten Son, our Only One True Redeemer and Savior, and also His beloved Holy Spirit, Our Comfort, our Encourager, our Teacher, our Guide Who Will Show Us All Things, and By Him Shall we Be Led into All Truth and Be Set Free .

I am a nobody in the field of music. I was lead here from discovering his death after listening to O holy night by David Phelps. IMO for a solo vocalist to stand up to his piano playing is very impressive and I suggest you look it up. After this, I notice that even after this extreme performance, i do not see one sheet of music. not one note. Are you kidding me!!!! This man was a gift from God, I only regret he was gone too soon.

They do not know. I always tell my audience before my Christmas Cantata. I was surprised the first time I heard it and told myself that there must be many others like me. I was right, my church did not know!
The first time I ever heard the Hallelujah Chorus sung all the way through, I was singing it in college choir along with the community chorus and the First Baptist Church choir when we performed the Easter portion of Handel's Messiah. I had no idea of the tradition until we were actually singing it onstage. At the opening strains of the Hallelujah Chorus, the audience rose, pretty much in unison, and I thought it was because they were so into what we were doing. Man, the RUSH of power and energy that came over me when I saw that! It hit me like a jolt! I wanted to do the whole concert over again!
Awesome doesn’t even begin to describe this performance. The piano was on fire when he finished!

I loved Anthony's playing. Now God gets to enjoy his music! What a blessing that must be! Most of the audience proved that in the USA we do not know how to show respect to a king let alone the King of kings. A long time ago, King George of England when he first heard this song recognized the authority of Christ as King over all kings and stood up in recognition of that fact and to respect, honor and to show submission to Christ's authority. If the king of England stood, we should all stand when this song is played. It is like the national anthem to our eternal Kingdom and King. I think I will want to stand in respect of Christ authority but also want to bow in submission to his Holiness. Either way it will be glorious!!!

This video leaves me with mixed feelings. There is a great sense of awe at the One who is being worshipped with such beautifully composed music, rendered so masterfully, not least by the pianist... absolutely brilliant work. But, there is a sense of sadness and concern that something that should have everyone on their knees in worship of the One being honoured in music, has so many are on their feet instead - literally and figuratively if the comments I've read are typical - applauding the pianist!
