Your video on the first rib severely helped out with an issue I've had for years. Since you're so knowledgeable on physical therapy I was hoping you might have a consultation (definitely willing to pay!) or something to help out with a dormant latissimus that I've been struggling with for about 9 months, it came on suddenly and was accompanied by tricep fatigue and weakness that hasn't gone away.

Hey Taylor! Unfortunately I'm not currently doing remote consultations, but hopefully theres a video within the catalogue that helps you figure it out!

Thanks, very helpful. My discomfort goes from the low back to the lateral hip ate a and then to the IT band through the mid thigh. Wondering if these 5 exercises will help this IT band tightness as well?

A lot of ITB dysfunction can feed off the same types of issues, but obviously each person would have to confirm that for themselves!

I have lateral hip pain that started after low back pain. They injected my facet joint with no relief, and then my hip also with no relief. They then injected my SI joint, and I had good relief of my back pain that was deep temporarily but it did not improve my lateral hip pain.
I’ll work on your recommended program above to see if it helps. Any suggestions for SI dysfunction with lateral hip pain?

Often dysfunction builds in areas of restriction, weakness, poor postural loading. The key is trying to find where through the lower back, hips, and pelvis you might be missing something and then work to rectify them!

@@YourWellnessNerdMy story is similar to yours. I've had roughly the same procedures done as you, I've also had lumbar denervation, two labral tear surgeries on my right hip, awaiting my left hip, the surgeon said I will need full replacements in 5 to 10 years and I am also awaiting a spinal fusion. The thing is my surgeon insists my hip problems shouldn't be giving me the severe pelvic pain I am experiencing. So I was wondering can hip problems cause pelvic pain? I cannot lay on my side due to the severity. I'm quite petite so my pelvis bones are quite prominent and if they are knocked in any way, I am in agony. Would this be pain radiating from my hips or back? Or perhaps another issue altogether. Thanks

@ I hear you mate, sorry to hear and I’m sure it’s been a challenging time for you. I can’t obviously speak to your symptoms specifically without having assed you for myself, but typically pelvic pain can have three origins. The first is obviously the pelvis, the second can be the hip although I don’t find this is typically as common, and the third and potentially most common for me is referred pain from the base of the rib cage/the top of the lower back. the third is the most easily ruled in/ruled out because we can just jump on a ball or a foam roller and go looking for stiff, tight, and restricted tissue in that part of the back, free it up, and then see if the pelvic symptoms change at all. Hope that helps!

Is it ok to do these exercises if your tissue already feels inflamed?

Its best to have someone assess you to be sure, but the back exercise and the ball exercise to the surrounding hip tissue can often feel ok as theres no direct pressure on any inflamed tissue

You mention that these exercises can be done standing. I am having difficulty imagining the posture. A demonstration would be ever so helpful. 😊

I hear you steph! Just imagine you're standing, leaning over a table with your hands or elbows supporting your upper body and taking the same approach described in the exercise!
