This is my personal review of the Kenwood DDX512 Head Unit. I am not an employee of Kenwood. This includes reviewing the Sirius SC-C1 tuner and the BT-200 Bluetooth options
I just purchased this unit today and I was dreading reading through the book. This was excellent. It actually helped the book make sense. Great job!!! Very helpful.
I agree about your point on not being able to fast forward or rewind while the DVD video is on the screen. I have no idea why Kenwood did that. I wish they would fix that in the new firmware. You can go forward and back on chapters while video is playing though. just not rewind or fast forward.
I think this is the best unit for the price. Picture is VERY VERY clean. Sound is clean I work for a car audio shop in chicago and we sell ALOT of the 512 and the 5120'S. There is a new update ver.1.5.1 from kenwood.

good review, thx. one little question: Is it possible to jump to a position in a long mp3 track (4 example a recorded mp3 stream) via a slider in the usb mode? Or does the machine adjust the windspeed when pressing the button 4 a longer time?
No. You cannot change the angle of the screen. This is not a motorized screen unit. As far as gaps between tracks, that depends on how you record your CDs or MP3s and has nothing to do with the unit as far as I know.
can not play USB files, when divice in in start to read it, after little while no device is displayed, some times plays for few seconds and freezed it any suggestions please... Thank You.
Are you having any issues with your WD Passport drive? My 5120 is not providing enough power so my $100 harddrive has turned out to be a waste. Any way to get around this?
wats up. i did the upgrade and im able to see the songs playing from my ipod but i cant get the sound to work, and its connected thru my usb, i can also see all the other functions. id appreciate your help. thanks
does the bluetooth (200) work with the iphone 3g? And I can't play video from my ipod, the file apears on the monitor but when i hit on the "no photo" button , the screen turns black but the audio plays........ any suggestions? thanks!
so like im a pretty good computer person MY brother tried to update his Kenwood DDX512 and he asked my help i tried to burn it onto a cd using basic Microsoft drag and drop but it doesnt work can someone who succesfully updated theirs HELP please! thanks! the file is a .ruf file :0

New firmware 2.4.0 is out on Kenwood's web site. I recommend you get it because it improves video playback and has bug fixes among other things.

Yes the plays DVD-R and DVD+R DVDs. This will even play MP3 music from burnt DVD discs and well as video

You can watch videos from the hard drive. Bit rate must be under 3000 though.
