My grandfather was a civil engineer when I was a kid I used to go with him. Before 30 years they use to fill each partician with horse dung one scak each. Then they completely close the tank. In that period no chemical where used It gave them good result.
Horse dung contains this bacteria. This is the same concept

This wont affect the performance.. Only thing you shouldn't use Acid for bathroom/toilets.. This would affect.. You can use harpic, lizol etc..
