LOL...SHINee has already had a concert this year and they will be going to Spain as well. Their SWC VI concert was in June and was crazy from what I've seen of the clips...and yes, "Hard" was introduced there, as well as many of the b-sides to the album. It's a masterpiece of different genres like Hip-Hop, Jazz, R&B, electronic Pop, dance Pop, etc. As you can hear from this sound, SHINee are masters at integrating different genres and making them sound like one new, cohesive genre. Funny thing about this song, SHINee hated the melody when they first heard it, but liked the song. So, they did what SHINee always do, they dismantled the entire melody and rewrote it. That's why their comeback was delayed from their original 15th anniversary date and came out a month later. Secondly, SM wanted their b-side, "Juice" (another banger you should check out; there is a performance video for it) as the title track for the album. SHINee said no. They wanted "Hard". I love both songs, but I agree with SHINee. "Hard" makes a really good MV story. The theme of the entire album seems to be a trip down memory lane over 15 years through genres SHINee has done and emotions of the past with a sense of excitement and hope for their future career together -- both as a group and soloists. The album is a masterpiece and showcases their gorgeous vocals, including their stunning harmonies. This is especially emphasized by their MV for "The Feeling" which was a 15th anniversary gift for SHAWOLs. As with much of the album, SHINee here is referencing some of their past MVs and individual solo work, as well as a smattering of SuperM -- because of 1) Taemin and 2) SM Universe (Kwangya) as indicated by the funky tone at the end of the MV. However, I also think this MV represents a very bold statement from SHINee that is synonymous with Taemin's equally bold rhetoric from his song, "Advice". Therefore, the most prominent symbolism I see in this MV is harkening back to "Advice" (the central figure being the Piano, Taemin's painted hands, and the generally aggressive rhetoric) but there are others as well: Again, with the piano, we see it is initially represented in a "Circle" (Onew's latest title track) which also symbolizes eternity, as the brothers have stated they want to stay together for a long time making music. The blue water gushing from the piano and the waves crashing into Onew are reminiscent of "Atlantis". We have Taemin's 2021 "Criminal" with the figures in white pressing against a screen in the background of Taemin's rap section and the reference to "criminal" in the chorus. The pristine black & white aesthetic of the beginning of the MV as it was in the middle of Taemin's "Criminal". The brothers being dragged down into the piano itself, as Taemin was in the "underground hellish pit of lava in "Criminal". Key's "Hate That" video is represented by Minho standing on the same rocky outcropping where Key and Taeyeon were perched in the same lighting and scenery. The animation is the same style as Onew's collab with Punch for their MV, "Way". Minho absorbing all the light and turning into a flame reflects his early SHINee nickname of "flaming charisma" due to his fiery passion and extreme competitiveness. We also have Key referencing an astra (star) in the lyrics. This could be a reference to Jonghyun, as he is also referred to as a "Diamond" in the sky, and the brothers will often point or look up to the sky when singing, as is focused in their pre-release MV "The Feeling". I think the overall message simplified is that SHINee is bigger than anyone's limited, individual imagination -- as Taemin represented clearly with his oversized body in a very small room within his head in "Advice". Don't try to box them in to one genre, one sound, and one identity (ironically the title of another of their b-sides to this album, as well as a b-side of Taemin's NGDA album of 2020). Don't try to confine their creativity to your own ideal. They don't and have never conformed to such ideas, as the company realized years ago beginning in 2015 when they began relinquishing even more of their control over the creative process to SHINee. SHINee doesn't care whether their music is fitting into the industry trends or standards. They have always set the trends and standards through their experimentation: singing live from the beginning during performances, upping the ante and complexity of choreographies while singing live, dance practice videos, fashion trends, inventing hybrid songs with "Sherlock", introducing new genres of music like Deep House and Dubstep to Kpop, instituting new fashion trends like skinny jeans and heavy eye make-up. And who could EVER forget "Internet War" and "Born to SHINe". These are just to name a few. SHINee has no fear and there is no such word as CAN'T. The music doesn't dictate to them; they can't be held captive by the restrictions of what's trendy at the time or appropriate -- they dictate the music. They are going back to their roots to start their second act. So sit back and enjoy the ride! Thank you for reacting to them again, and I sincerely hope you will check out "Juice"! Also, there are plenty of clips on YT from their recent concert.
Ohh speaking of concert, SHINee has already performed Hard Album at their concerts, well they first performed their new songs at the concerts first. SHINee had fanmeets and concerts (May/June) prior their comeback. And their Japan concert tour is already full till November of 2023.
SHINee members have actually been consistently active with solo releases and solo concerts/tours despite the two group military hiatuses; as a group, they released a full album and repackage in 2021 (you guys reacted to it, hahaha). They broke their own sales records with this album and are bringing in new fans after 15 years in the industry... it's impressive. This song also won on five music shows, so I think we can definitively say: they've still got it.
SHINee fot tons concerts/fanmeets this 2023, both group and their ALL as Solos. Insane! That’s excluding the joint concerts and festivals. Hard Live is crazy!
Shinee had an online concert in 2021 because of Covid, and a concert a month ago, they didn't debut in the last century. All their concerts have been amazing.
I'm part of the old gerenation fans, and is sooooooo good watch reactions of Shinee, BIGBANG, Super Junior, SNSD, 2NE1, EXO. My heart melts!!! I started listen to kpop more than 12 years ago and I'm really happy that kpop is known by many other people all around the world.
It was nice to see SHINee in your channel after so long❤. That hand.. You'll know when you watch JUICE performance video. If you want a cool summer song there's THE FEELING also..yes.. They reeased three videos this come back...🥳
Shinee is the pillar of K-pop with 16 years of legacy! International fan are only discovering tgem! Please take time to listen to their past yo present music you will understand that all the existing K-pop group including BtS is heavily influenced by Shinee.. Each member are so talented and they are true artists and not just K-pop idols!
They always show a different version of themselves with this unique essence and what I love, they evolve with their music. I love rap and melody and the bridge is divine. There's a lot of symbolism in there, and Taemin said there's a lot of references to him, but oh my god, I'm obsessed with this album. SHINee back next JUICE
Hi, though I love your enthusiasm for your reactions to SHINee or Taemin (and even unknowingly Onew) it feels more and more that you just "work through" the patreon requests, because they are paid, but lack genuine interest in the group. Its so weird that you thought they stopped making music? If you'd be interested you could watch a guide maybe? Since Taemin went Solo in 2014 (despite being in an active group; which makes him the first Idol from SM to do that) they have all had solo carreers after him. They never split. I was already confused with the last reaction to MTTM, when you thought this was one of their last and that was 2015. They still had like 1of1, 1and1 as OT% and then continued their journey as 4 with TSOL in 2018, Onew, Key and Minho went on their military duty asnd they came back 2021 with DCM, then Taemin went on military duty and now they back as SHINee. While they could not be SHINee they were all still very active, together and apart/solo. But they never abandoned SHINee. I think you got it entirely wrong that groups are made to disband by their contracts. The contracts are for 7 years. And that binds them to work for an entertainment. They have to resign their contract, but its not designed for them to stop being a group then. Yes, a lot of groups nowaydays feel very temp, but thats those people. SHINee have often said that they'd do it everything again if with the members. They really genuinely love each other and will never not be SHINee together.
Juice performance mv is amazing!
