Last year Key made a new EP, Bad Love. A week ago we had Onew's comeback with his EP, Dice. SHINee Concerts run for like 3 hours or so.. with like a 30-song setlist.. and their energy and LIVE PERFORMANCE all throughout is insane!! Going to SHINee concerts are always soo worth it!

This performance was from their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul, so it was in 2015. This concert -- and their previous concert SWC3 in Seoul -- is where the majority of SHINee's best live performances are from. You will eventually get requests to watch every one of the stages from this concert, because they are all must see performances and they are so iconic. "Sherlock" is a special song that combines 2 songs from SHINee's Sherlock album, "Clue" and "Note." That's why the title of this song is "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" If you were to listen to the album you would see that they are two separate songs, but when combined they become "Sherlock." So, in this performance you hear the mashup of the two songs. As the title of the song indicates, SHINee are supposed to be Sherlock-like detectives, so the choreography has been designed to give them Sherlock-like poses and to show them investigating clues, and taking photos, etc. That is why they do that Sherlock Holmes-style exaggerated march, and why you see them kneel down and draw a line on the floor, and why they hold their hands out like they are snapping a photo, and why they brush their arms off like they are brushing dust off their sleeves, etc. Tony Testa, who is a famous American choreographer that has worked with artists like Michael Jackson, choreographed "Sherlock (Clue & Note)," as well as their songs "Everybody" "Dream Girl" and "Married to the Music." He has also worked with other SM groups and artists, such as TVXQ and Super Junior, etc. SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" was his first Kpop project and it was one of the first times anyone in the Kpop industry used a big name international choreographer. Those vocals are why SHINee are known as one of the best live performances in Kpop. Jonghyun is one of the best vocalist in the industry, and what you just experienced is why SHINee is one of the most well respected groups in all of Kpop. Even as rookies, Jonghyun and Onew were so well respected for their vocal abilities that they were mentors and vocal coaches for several SM artists, including some of the members of EXO. Key -- the one with the grey hair -- is our fashionista of the group and he is known for creating the outfits for a lot of SHINee's MVs and live performances. If you watch this full set you will see that right after this they immediately follow this song up with their song "Shine" and then their Iconic performance of "Stranger" and then "Picasso." They literally go from one song to the next without even skipping a beat. They don't even have a chance to catch their breath, and yet, right after that, when they interact with the audience, they don't even look or sound like the performance has even started. As you have discovered, SHINee are amazing live. The ONLY thing SHINee is not good at is lip syncing, so they have specifically trained since their debut, to build stamina and endurance, in order to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight and always sound flawless while performing these intense choreographies. It may be shocking because they sound so flawless even though they are dancing so intensely, but that is why they are such legends and why they are so highly respected in the industry. SHINee are referred to as CDINee or CD-eaters, because they sound even better live then they do in their studio recordings. It is a running joke between fans and the members that you can tell when SHINee are lip syncing because they are so bad at it, that is why they avoid it at all costs. So when you hear SHINee sing, 95% of the time it will be live. (If you ask any of the members, what is something you are not good at? One of the very first things they will say is, "I am horrible at lip syncing." -- I have heard the members say this multiple times with my own ears.) Yes, over the years they have become better at lip syncing then they used to be, but now they have gained the reputation as the group that always sings live, so unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, what you will hear is live vocals. Other Idols and audio sound technicians, etc. who have witnessed SHINee performing live are always blown away, because in the parts of the song where most singers would take a break and rely on the backing track vocals to cover their voices so they can catch their breath and recover, this is where the SHINee members actually ramp it up and become their most powerful. I guarantee, that if you were to listen to them singing a cappella while performing some of their most intense choreographies, they would sound just as flawless. That is why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive. When SHINee debuted in 2008 they were the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing intense choreography and still maintain stable vocals. Before SHINee, the thought within the industry was that it wasn't possible to sing live and also perform high intensity choreography at the same time. At that time, most groups would either sing live and have simple choreography, or they would have crazy cool choreography but lip sync to their recorded vocals. SHINee was the group that changed the industry and proved that if you wanted to compete you needed to up your game. SHINee live is unmatched and it's literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard that all other groups strive to reach and SHINee are the vocalists that all other artists try to emulate. You really need to check out more of their live concert performances because their stages are like none other. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. Nothing compares to SHINee live.

I mean the person who mistook Jonghyun for SHINee's leader might have been making an honest mistake. It has been known to happen because he talked a lot more than Onew and was also always in the center (due to his height...lol sorry Jjong). But fact of the matter is that they tried to make it look like they're a fan by calling him "our leader", when a Shawol would never make that kind of mistake in the first place. That's what rubs me the wrong way, not the mistake in and of itself.

SHINee are legends of live performances and it's an acknowledged fact they are one of the few groups that never lip-sync because they suck at it. They only use backtrack vocals for the parts of the songs were the choreos go too hard. In my honest opinion SHINee are the best performers in K-pop, followed by TVXQ (Check their performance of Android, it's insane! singing and dancing while rain is pouring down in a fully packed Nissan Stadium in Japan...there were 75.000 attendants). Both are second generation groups from SM and had similar training since every member was/is a vocalist (heavy in R&B harmonizations and extremely stable vocals, which was made possible because part of SM's training is to sing while running or climbing stairs)
Sherlock that time made me Stan them.. Those era of SJ, SHINEE, EXO, BIGBANG, 2NE1 , I think I would say in 2nd gen era were I know and made me into kpop.

This song is actually two separate songs. “Clue” and “Note” are originally written as separate songs and the owner of SM, Lee Sooman, liked both of them and had them take the best parts of each song to make this song.
This song is my favorite Kpop song of all time. Im not a shinee fan fan but when a song is good, is GOOD, even if you are not a stan or part of the fandom. Sherlock is still my favorite Kpop song of all time and my top 5 favorites songs of all time in GENERAL.
I really hope you’ll check out Replay (their amazing debut song) and Atlantis (their last song from 2021) and Taemin’s Criminal (that is for the MJ vibes and just because this song is a freaking masterpiece!) We’re waiting for our boys to come back with new album as soon as they are ready after Taemin completes his military service late this year. SHINee members have unique voices BUT the magic happen when they sing together, their harmonization is so good you should check their MEDLEY... they are so famous in Japan that all their albums and songs always have both Korean and Japanese version so dont be confuse if you hear their song in other version. All their Japan concerts and stages are so great and worth it. Please do react on their Japan stages of "Stranger" and "Everybody" . And yes our Angel Jjong is not physically with them anymore, he lost his battle againsts depression on Dec 18, 2017, the darkest day for SHINee and Shawols. But as what Onew says, Jjong is forever a SHINee member. 4 in our eyes, 5 in our heart 💚. Also each of the members have solo careers so please do check on them especially Onew's duet with Blackpink Rosé "Lucky" , his "Rainy Blue" and his version of the Operatic song "Nessun Dorma". Actually Jonghyun was never the Lead vocalist he was the Main vocalist Onew was the Lead vocalist and of course the Leader, in the beginner Onew Lead Vocal and Leader, Jonghyun Main Vocal. Key Vocal, Lead Dancer and Lead Rapper, Minho Main Rapper and Sub Vocal and Taemin Main Dancer and Sub Vocal, after a few years Jonghyun said that in SHINee everyone is Vocal meaning they didn't use positions anymore and Onew said it again in the Last comeback, That's why we say on SHINee that we have 5 Vocals, 5 Dancers, 5 Rappers and 5 Visuals because they do everything so well That in any other group all of them can be Main in all positions

"Sherlock (Clue & Note)" is part of the intro of the concert, but the whole concert is just as intense and amazing as what you just saw. This performance was from their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul, so it was in 2015. This concert -- and their previous concert SWC3 in Seoul -- is where the majority of SHINee's best live performances are from. You will eventually get requests to watch every one of the stages from this concert, because they are all must see performances and they are so iconic.
"Sherlock" is a special song that combines 2 songs from SHINee's Sherlock album, "Clue" and "Note." That's why the title of this song is "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" If you were to listen to the album you would see that they are two separate songs, but when combined they become "Sherlock." So, in this performance you hear the mashup of the two songs.
As the title of the song indicates, SHINee are supposed to be Sherlock-like detectives, so the choreography has been designed to give them Sherlock-like poses and to show them investigating clues, and taking photos, etc. That is why they do that Sherlock Holmes-style exaggerated march, and why you see them kneel down and draw a line on the floor, and why they hold their hands out like they are snapping a photo, and why they brush their arms off like they are brushing dust off their sleeves, etc.
Tony Testa, who is a famous American choreographer that has worked with artists like Michael Jackson, choreographed "Sherlock (Clue & Note)," as well as their songs "Everybody" "Dream Girl" and "Married to the Music." He has also worked with other SM groups and artists, such as TVXQ and Super Junior, etc. SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" was his first Kpop project and it was one of the first times anyone in the Kpop industry used a big name international choreographer.
Those vocals are why SHINee are known as one of the best live performances in Kpop. Jonghyun is one of the best vocalist in the industry, and what you just experienced is why SHINee is one of the most well respected groups in all of Kpop. Even as rookies, Jonghyun and Onew were so well respected for their vocal abilities that they were mentors and vocal coaches for several SM artists, including some of the members of EXO.
Key -- the one with the grey hair -- is our fashionista of the group and he is known for creating the outfits for a lot of SHINee's MVs and live performances. Key designed several outfits for this concert, including the ones you see them wearing in this set. The embellishments and design for these military style uniformes, were created by him. Key has even been given the official title as SM's director of fashion.
If you think this performance was insane, just wait until you see the full concert. They perform like this for 3 hours straight and they never take more than a 5 minute break in between sets to change their clothes and get ready for the next set. If you watch this full set you will see that right after this they immediately follow this song up with their song "Shine" and then their Iconic performance of "Stranger" and then "Picasso." They literally go from one song to the next without even skipping a beat. They don't even have a chance to catch their breath, and yet, right after that, when they interact with the audience, they don't even look or sound like the performance has even started. And they do it all while singing live the whole time. :D

Sherlock was the first song and MV of SHINee’s I’d seen when it came out. I’m a fan but not enough to be a Shawol. But this is the second group to get me into Kpop, first being BIGBANG (HaruHaru). No matter how many times I hear Sherlock, I always get goosebumps.

As you have discovered, SHINee are amazing live. The ONLY thing SHINee is not good at is lip syncing, so they have specifically trained since their debut, to build stamina and endurance, in order to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight and always sound flawless while performing these intense choreographies. It may be shocking because they sound so flawless even though they are dancing so intensely, but that is why they are such legends and why they are so highly respected in the industry.
SHINee are referred to as CDINee or CD-eaters, because they sound even better live then they do in their studio recordings. It is a running joke between fans and the members that you can tell when SHINee are lip syncing because they are so bad at it, that is why they avoid it at all costs. So when you hear SHINee sing, 95% of the time it will be live. (If you ask any of the members, what is something you are not good at? One of the very first things they will say is, "I am horrible at lip syncing." -- I have heard the members say this multiple times with my own ears.)
Yes, over the years they have become better at lip syncing then they used to be, but now they have gained the reputation as the group that always sings live, so unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, what you will hear is live vocals.
Other Idols and audio sound technicians, etc. who have witnessed SHINee performing live are always blown away, because in the parts of the song where most singers would take a break and rely on the backing track vocals to cover their voices so they can catch their breath and recover, this is where the SHINee members actually ramp it up and become their most powerful.
I guarantee, that if you were to listen to them singing a cappella while performing some of their most intense choreographies, they would sound just as flawless. That is why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive.
When SHINee debuted in 2008 they were the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing intense choreography and still maintain stable vocals. Before SHINee, the thought within the industry was that it wasn't possible to sing live and also perform high intensity choreography at the same time. At that time, most groups would either sing live and have simple choreography, or they would have crazy cool choreography but lip sync to their recorded vocals. SHINee was the group that changed the industry and proved that if you wanted to compete you needed to up your game.
SHINee live is unmatched and it's literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard that all other groups strive to reach and SHINee are the vocalists that all other artists try to emulate.
You really need to check out more of their live concert performances because their stages are like none other. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. Nothing compares to SHINee live.

Jonghyun is not SHINee's leader tho, but he did leave us in 2017. He's SHINee's lead vocalist. Also, their performance here is stellar! no need to be sad over happy/goosebumps-worthy videos like this, we can always honor his memory by celebrating his life and legacy 💗

I mean the person who mistook Jonghyun for SHINee's leader might have been making an honest mistake. It has been known to happen because he talked a lot more than Onew and was also always in the center (due to his height...lol sorry Jjong).
But fact of the matter is that they tried to make it look like they're a fan by calling him "our leader", when a Shawol would never make that kind of mistake in the first place. That's what rubs me the wrong way, not the mistake in and of itself.

SHINee are legends of live performances and it's an acknowledged fact they are one of the few groups that never lip-sync because they suck at it. They only use backtrack vocals for the parts of the songs were the choreos go too hard.
In my honest opinion SHINee are the best performers in K-pop, followed by TVXQ (Check their performance of Android, it's insane! singing and dancing while rain is pouring down in a fully packed Nissan Stadium in Japan...there were 75.000 attendants). Both are second generation groups from SM and had similar training since every member was/is a vocalist (heavy in R&B harmonizations and extremely stable vocals, which was made possible because part of SM's training is to sing while running or climbing stairs)

This performance was the beginning of over three hours of high-octane choreography and intense vocals. They never lose energy or momentum. Also, Jonghyun was not the leader…that role has always been Onew’s…Jjong was our main vocalist, along with Onew. Though he is not with us physically, he is forever in our hearts and forever part of SHINee. SHINee has always been, is currently, and will always be Five. ♥️🌹 The video you reacted to previously, “Don’t Call Me” was released just this past year prior to Taemin’s enlistment. We anticipate his discharge in November, whereupon Shawol will all shout for the world to hear that “SHINEE’S BACK!!!”

This song is my favorite Kpop song of all time. Im not a shinee fan fan but when a song is good, is GOOD, even if you are not a stan or part of the fandom. Sherlock is still my favorite Kpop song of all time and my top 5 favorites songs of all time in GENERAL.

I really hope you’ll check out Replay (their amazing debut song) and Atlantis (their last song from 2021) and Taemin’s Criminal (that is for the MJ vibes and just because this song is a freaking masterpiece!) We’re waiting for our boys to come back with new album as soon as they are ready after Taemin completes his military service late this year. But we’ll wait as long as it takes, cause we don’t want to rush anything and Taemin will surely need time to adjust after coming back. SHINee members have unique voices BUT the magic happen when they sing together, their harmonization is so good you should check their MEDLEY... they are so famous in Japan that all their albums and songs always have both Korean and Japanese version so dont be confuse if you hear their song in other version. All their Japan concerts and stages are so great and worth it. Please do react on their Japan stages of "Stranger" and "Everybody" . And yes our Angel Jjong is not physically with them anymore, he lost his battle againsts depression on Dec 18, 2017, the darkest day for SHINee and Shawols. But as what Onew says, Jjong is forever a SHINee member. 4 in our eyes, 5 in our heart 💚. Also each of the members have solo careers so please do check on them especially Onew's duet with Blackpink Rosé "Lucky" , his "Rainy Blue" and his version of the Operatic song "Nessun Dorma". Actually Jonghyun was never the Lead vocalist he was the Main vocalist Onew was the Lead vocalist and of course the Leader, in the beginner Onew Lead Vocal and Leader, Jonghyun Main Vocal. Key Vocal, Lead Dancer and Lead Rapper, Minho Main Rapper and Sub Vocal and Taemin Main Dancer and Sub Vocal, after a few years Jonghyun said that in SHINee everyone is Vocal meaning they didn't use positions anymore and Onew said it again in the Last comeback, That's why we say on SHINee that we have 5 Vocals, 5 Dancers, 5 Rappers and 5 Visuals because they do everything so well That in any other group all of them can be Main in all positions
