In terms of potential, talent and skill, the best European player ever is Sabonis. In terms of achievement, several players are ahead of him. Prior to his 1986 (I think) Achilles' tendon injury, he was unstoppable, the Ivan Drago of world basketball by all means. He would have been the best player ever! Although he preserved much of his wit, smarts and ability after it, he was a much slower and less agile player. Growing up in Yugoslavia (Serbia), I was in awe (and in love) watching him and learned about Lithuania through him and other guys. To me, he's the greatest. Too bad about that 1986...

Sabonis-Petrovic-Galis are at the same level. Near them- Martsulionis, Nowitzky, Ratja, Divac, Stogiakovic, Gasol,Parker, Paspalj (serbian legend),Navarro, Ginobilli (because of his italian-spanish origin) -of course there is also Oscar Smidt, a high class fiba player but, he is a brazilian one....
in term of medals and achievements there is no doubt that Dirk is the best european player in NBA but when quality,skills is about then Drazen Petrovic was and still is the best European basketball player ever. I mean who ever have seen that guy knows what I'm talking about...he was unstoppable. Sabonis one great centar and is not fair to compare him with point guard
Best European center yes, player no... Could have been world top 10, NBA included, barring the injuries... Sabonis, Dirk, Drazen, Kukoc and Bodiroga would be top 5. With Divac, Stojakovic, Gasol, Parker and Radja/Danilovic/Djordjevic/Marciulionis for the top 10. I'm probably missing someone, Schremps and Galis for example. If Manu was to be included, he would be top 5.
but certenly..kukoc is the best europe player of all time-3-time with jugoplastika euro champion,2-time with yugoslavia euro champion,1-time world champion,olympic silver with croatia and yugoslavia-and with chicago bulls nba champion----sabonis is good centar ,but kukoc -the best player of all time in europa
что сравнивать: игроки разного амплуа. С Сабонисом надо сравнивать Вранковича,Диваца,Раджу. Но Дивац сам сказал: лучшие игроки однозначно - Петрович и Сабонис

Засудили литовцев, как я переживал тогда... после Сеула 1988 года баскетбол стал неинтересен, 1995 - снова появилась возможность увидеть тот Жальгирис

I would include Nick Galis and Manu in my top,but they are not European exactly,Parker over Bodiroga,and Radja over Djordjevic.
