Watching you tinker with your shop lathe and machines brings me back to High School as they were the machines I used when in Brooklyn Technical High School. They were great times and I am always fascinated by what a man and a lathe can do. Great Video. I will give you a 98% for your ingenuity.
I followed all three videos, nice work, doing the best with what you've got/can source. We all make mistakes, great you can admit to yours, might make others think twice before making the same. Thanks for your efforts.
I definitely considered it, and I still think it would have been the better route. But it was the middle of winter when I did this, and at the time I just couldn't overcome the idea of driving all the way to a pick and pull, wandering around in crap weather to find a donor, and pulling the part when I could just click a button. If I'm honest, age and the internet have made me soft.
Nice one. Am looking to improve an engine stand and this gave me loads of ideas. I don't have a lathe, nor a mill, but am thinking how to improve the rotation mechanism. Good stuff here, thanks.
BTW there is corresponding spline shaft as bearing bushings straight out of the shelf. The worm gear has a self locking properties, so you wouldn’t need to use drum brake like this one here .
If I'm honest, I was too lazy. The nearest yard isn't that close, and I didn't feel like doing a pull. Of course a week after I finished this, a friend replaced his hubs and CV axles on a Cherokee, so it would have been a great donor.

I'm surprised you didn't source that splined shaft from a wrecking yard. The outer CV joint housing would make a great axle for the drive unit.

Using truck air brakes slack adjuster as a worm gear drive is the best idea I’ve seen . It’s compact , cheap and easy to do .

I wasn't aware these things even existed. They're definitely a better solution!
How did you mount the engine? Do you have a video showing an engine mounted to it?

It’s heavy, but far not duty ! It’s in the same time heavily over and under engineered !
you should have welded the handle to the hub
Could have used an axle.
Would have been easier, for sure. But I didn't have one.
@@YoshimoshiGarage , I would have hit the junkyard, but I don't have your skill of fabrication.

So how does the engine mount to this?
It's only for Chris.
Totally
👍💪
What no hydraulic master cylinder, lol?
Fuckin awesomeness bro
Loot at my engine stand on my chanel
to many items and tools ,bey it easyer and cheeber
Waste of time. Lol
Totally, but more productive than sitting on TH-cam commenting of videos.
