I discovered this song about 6 years ago whilst in rehab for depression. I then played it every time I went to collect my thoughts in a quiet room. It helped me get through my darkest period. ;
First off I had no idea they sent people to rehab for depression. I thought they sent them to the funny farm. Anyway, as a man too full of pride to go to rehab for my rampant alcoholism a 3rd time, I found this song about 6 years ago as well. When I would be 9 days deep in my binge drinking 3 liters of bourbon a day. I would want to kill myself to make it end. This song helped keep the demons at bay for me as well. Sometimes I would have to play it 100 times in a row but it would eventually break through that wall and let me see the light.

When I got back to the office I told the guy. He said “Oh, he’s got another phase to go” and then told me his story. What made him stop was when he was at a clinic/hospital and after the x-ray or whatever the doctor pointed to teardrop sacs on his liver and said “If one of those bursts, you are dead!” As for the funny farm, well that’s the next step. 😜 I live in Germany and it appears the health system is very proactive for mental illness. I have just come off a 3rd rehab because in my 2nd rehab I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD. Like you I was too proud and ignored all the warning signs. The “black dog” came calling once, but I survived. Take care.
